I'm fine with the way people feel about things, but it's not right to say that it sucks and that's that, no questions asked. The better way to say things would be, "It's not very popular, and I personally don't like it." Saying that it sucks and that's that could be offensive to fans such as myself.
Personally, I think The Batman is great, but I don't think it's a good thing to think that the show sucks like no other and that nobody should be able to watch it. The Batman fans, who's with me?

I agree. I enjoy it.
I initially had no interest because I thought the character designs were awful (except for Batman) and because it was something of a tie-in with Batman Begins. But needing a new animated Batman fix, I picked up the first two seasons earlier this year and, much to my surprise, I loved it. I thought the animation was great, the action was awesome, I like the cast, and now I love the designs. I'm looking forward to catching up with the series, though the news I've read about Season 5 has me a bit worried.

I think by now everyone has cooled down and given valid reasons why they don't like it. You have to understand, people, especially fans do not like change. So when "The Batman" came into the fray it was simply too different from B:TAS that everybody lambasted it left and right. I think by now, Season 4 in particular has proven to a lot of people that this show is actually quite good. Yes there are a select few who will hate the show for the sake of hating it but by now most fans will have either warmed up to it or give a good reason why they don't like it.

There's a lot of crap to sort through, but once you reach season 4, it gets pretty good. Although a handful of eps from season 2 were nicely done.

True, but some people, including myself, like the entire thing. Bruce and Ellen are cool. :)

That can be said about any show, really.
I'm in the group that didn't care for it up until Season 4. I'm not saying I hated it from seasons 1-3, I just didn't think it was a good cartoon.

I think people were just so outraged over the new designs, voices (Joker for instance) and with Justice League winding down, fans were just expecting a really high standard.
I do not watch every episode of The Batman, but I definately know it got ridiculed the first season, but as time went on, people are accepting it more and more-and next year when the story lines have really progress (with the current story line that i wont mention) it should only get even better.
Im sure on a smaller scale, people will be dissapointed when the show leaves and criticize the next show for coming on the air (Legion of Superheroes anyone...) because they are not used to it.
I'm among the few who have enjoyed all four seasons of this series. I will say season four is better than the previous three, but the other three are still enjoyable. There are a few bad episodes every now and then, but it's just a natural thing that TV shows have.

I agree that The Batman has been running smoothly all along. True, some episodes have been somewhat bad, but who cares? It's great to know that there are fans out there.

The beginning of season 1 and season 3 were shaky...but it haas gotten better. Batgirl used to irritate me, but better writing has made her and the rest of the show much more enjoyable.
The Batman is a good show in my opinion.

You have to understand, people, especially fans do not like change.
I remember when the show first came out--I got so sick of people saying this whenever someone didn't like the show. That we didn't like it because we don't like change. I love the Adam West Batman, I love Batman:TAS, I love Tim Burton's Batman movies and Joel Schumacher's first stab at the franchise, not to mention Batman Begins. All of these were very different interpretations, but most of the time, I loathe The Batman, so it obviously isn't because it's "different."

well, some people actually said they didnt like the batman because it was too much change. which can be a reason, just not a strong one

Maybe not all fans but I know for sure that most didn't like because it was so different. I mean look at the past DCAU shows. Why do you think that TNBA got criticisms for its redesign? How about BB with it's futuristic setting, a teenage Batman, and a old Bruce Wayne? Or maybe JLU, why did you think fans complained that it had a new song, too many obscure characters, and shorter episodes? Because it ALL changed! That's the point I'm getting at. Perhaps I was a little overboard when I said that all fans don't like change but there are a majority that don't. I was one of them. I hated "The Batman" simply because it wasn't too different from B:TAS. Now I'm a fan now because I have given it a chance and now it's a quality show on its own right IMO. But I do think it's a fair assessment to say that a lot of people did not like "The Batman" at first because it was so different.

I like The Batman because all the characters are younger and thus easier to like and relate to. It's like Ultimate Batman(Ultimate Marvel)they start at the beggining and twist things around. So cool.

Ive been a fan of The Batman since the beginning. I like all the redesigns, including Joker. I liked the fact that most of The Batman's villains could put up a fight. And while the writing and dialogue did tend to get really corny and bad sometimes, I was able to see past it.
I also think alot of people were overrating BTAS and other incarnations of Batman. There were some episodes of BTAS and other shows that were downright terrible. While it was a very good show, it was far from perfect.
While BTAS did do a really good job with most of its villains, I also feel that the Batman improved on many of them, that had otherwise seemed unimportant or overlooked. To me these improvements include:
Bane (BTAS south american pro wrestler just seemed like a joke to me.)
Hugo Strange (they actually made him awesome)
Firefly
I know it seems like a stretch but I liked The Batman's Clayface better too, if only for the animation style. (To me Clayface in BTAS tended to look like an orange semi-human shaped turd)
The Batman has improved over the past 4 years. It has had its ups and downs. But years from now I think Ill be happy to say I was a fan of the show.
(Ironically, I also kind of hope that when the next Bat-toon comes out there will be people saying that it sucks and that it is no where near as good as The Batman was.)

Chalk me up to one of those who initially didn't like it, and then fell in like with it in S4.
The problems for me are thus:
It is hard to compare this with Batman TAS, since I feel that was a huge step in animation. it was surely one of the most adult kid shows seen in a while. Why, it started to have a prime time run when it was on Fox. But then again, looking at some of the episodes produced for Kid's WB... But any new cartoon series has to deal with fans of the previous version compairing it.
The reimaginationing of some of the characters didn't sit too well with me. I liked how Penguin appeared, but the Joker needed some time to warm up to (changing him from an insane criminal to Criminally insane), and I wasn't too happy with the Marilyn Manson-esque Riddler either. I also wasn't too much a fan of the artwork, either. Especially since they gave Catwoman the Halle Berry Costume.
The introduction of Batgirl. This is why I don't like the third season. She seemed like they took Jade from jackie Chan adventures, turned her caucasian, and made her a teenager. The over eagerness really killed the plot half the time.
And of course, quite a few earlier plot lines were pretty lame. Especially the one where Bushroot tries to take over St. Canard by turinging everyone into plant zombies.... I mean Poison Ivy trying to take over Gotham.
But by Season 4 they took the hint, gave the show a little more depth, added some fan favorites, got Paul Dini to write an episode.... it really got it back on track. Though I'm not completely loving S5, since half of it seems to be just wanting to draw the Justice League in the Batman style. The Superman one was great, though... but most of them really feel that Batman is playing second in his own show.

Catwoman's design for The Batman was actually based on her at that time current comic book costume.

The only real difference and the only thing that it had in common with the Halle Berry Catwoman design are the way too big ears.

I don't mind change if it is an improvement. The Batman was not. While I do actually like some of the episodes; the problem with The Batman is it wasn't as good overall as BTAS, TNBA, and the rest of the DCAU. There are a few things that The Batman does better than the DCAU, but not many.

I guess it makes sense then. But somehow it looks better in that comic style than how they designed it in the show. It looks sort of like a conglomeration of both. Those big ears, however totally ruined the look for me.

That's my stand on the series, whilst it did actually have a few decent episodes, I, for the most part, considered it rubbish, and I'm saying good riddance, the animation style was okay yes, but I'm no fan of the villain redesigns...

Villan redesigns are noting new. Batman has been around for almost 70 years and has been redesigned a lot over the years. If redesigns were bad, then we would still be looking at the original Bob Kane Batman from 70 years ago.
