While I'm still not a huge fan of Starscream's design, me likey footage. I don't care what any Transfans say, this looks like a blast. Pure, unadulterated giant robot action. Next to Spidey 3 and POTC: At World's End, this is easily my most anticipated movie of the summer.

"Drivers don't choose their cars... cars choose their drivers!"
This line could only possibly be in a Michael Bay movie involving sentient automobiles.

I have to say, from what we saw, Starscream and BB both look more...proportional than anything we've seen on them thus far. Not that I'm complaining.

i realize it's more realistic to have the whole country running for they're lives...i mean, even with the 'in disguise' feature it's really hard to keep giant robots under the rug for so long...still, i just hate how much it looks like independance day and war of the worlds- substituting the tri-pods and aliens for robots....great looking effects and the voice cast should be really good, but my expectations have dropped considrerably for this movie.

Though I'm nowhere near the Transformers fan I was as a kid back in the '80s, I can't wait to see this movie. The effects look amazing! I'm definitely seeing it within the first week.
(But not before I see Live Free or Die Hard first. Should be an interesting weekend. John McClane vs. Transformers at the box office. :D )

FF2 also changed its release date to June 15.
My big question is...where's the color? They're all just silver streaks of metal crashing into things. I hope for the final film, they make Optimus' red redder, and BB's yellow more vibrant. I want to be able to tell which robot is which.
Otherwise, I'm pretty unenthused about all this, but I'm trying to be optimistic. I doubt it'll hold a torch to this summers Pirates.

Blame the fact their making a transformer movie on the success of genre franchise movies like x-men and harry potter, 80s kids growing up and the internet.
Every studio wants a successful franchise will it's own marketable elements.
And transformers has been kept alive mostly by an internet fanbase.

Well, Bumblebee will have some kind of an overhaul to a less beat-up version of his car, so his yellow will be more vibrant. Prime's is pretty red and blue, in the stills, just that the times he's been shown in these spots and trailers, he's been in dark lighting, mostly, so he looks less saturated. Ratchet's emergency yellow/green. Ironhide is black and silver, and we haven't really seen much of Jazz..
The 'Cons are neutral colors, I guess, to make them seem more cold and alien. Besides, they're out to play up the disguise thing in this movie a lot more.

The older fanbase from G1 isn't what's keeping it alive. Hasbro has said it at BotCon before that the older fandom is at most, a fifth of the income made by toy sales. The kids, and kids' parents are what's keeping it alive, the older fans are just along for the ride.

I'm sure that's true with toy sales but this movie is being marketed for the teenage and 20 something movie goers.
Incidently, does anyone know what the movie is rated. I would guess just from some of the footage that it has to be pg-13.

I was reading at Wikipedia that the first cut of the film earned an R rating for the intensity of the action sequences, but that Spielberg later got it downgraded to a PG-13. Here's (http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=3&id=40510) a SciFi.com article about that.

The cool thing about that is there wern't any edit's needed to drop it to a PG-13. Spielberg just went to the MPAA, told them "it's not R-rated material", their tails went right between their legs, and BAM! It's PG13. Woop!

Well he is in another movie coming out soon...and he's in another animated movie that comes out before Transformers, so he's probably on the run for those above Transformers.
What I've been a bit perplexed about is the amount of Transformers promos on TV considering we've got a little under 4 months before the film actually comes out...I'm hoping Paramount doesn't go the route running the film into the ground before it's even released.

I must be watching the wrong channels (or just not enough), but I haven't seen a single ad for Transformers anywhere on TV. Which I figured was just normal, since the release is still three months away.

I may have spotted a few on Comedy Central as well - but the amount of times I've seen them on whatever channel they've been airing seems oddly disproportionate to the amount of time the movie comes out.

Oh, puh-leeze. Bay initially turned down the offer to make Transformers because he thought it would just be a stupid movie made to sell toy robots to kids (paraphrasing). If all he cared about was money, he would have done the film anyway. It was only after he was given a closer look at the story and realized there was more to it than "selling toys" that he agreed to direct it. You'd have to be crazy to make a movie just for cash because films (especially nowadays) are such huge gambles you risk losing more than making it.

How awkward. They keep saying their design teams were "required to be fans to get hired" but...I don't buy it for a damn second. The transformation's are too complicated to work as toy's, the designs themselves say nothing of the classic or modern TF models, and now Optimus has bird lips. To be honest, when I heard he would have lips I was actually expecting better. Jeeze...guess that showed me what happens when I have expectations.
I've been a tad worried that FF2 would be the geek movie of the summer to make me cry, but now I'm nearly certain TF will have my inner geek pull a gun on itself. I've already come to a decision about July 4th weekend. I'm gonna see Die Hard on Friday, Transformers on Saturday. Despite 22 years of being a loyal Transfan, I'm going to entrust the enjoyment of my July 4th to John McClane.

This movie, the way I see it, is just a really huge leap in the Transformers franchise and how it is done.
I honestly don't care about the designs, Spielburg is on the watch so I'm sure this'll be a fun movie.
