I was thinking over this, since of the new release of C&C 3 Tiberium Wars, in the final cut scenes of the Nod Campaign when CABAL is next to Kane in the Cryo Tube and then says "We must reassess our directives". Does that mean that after Kane was impaled by Colonel McNeil in Tiberian Sun, that he ordered CABAL to go renegade and possible knock off Kane's NOD rivals so that Kane could revive from his injuries? Thus forming the Fire Storm story?
