This debate was hard because i actually like Lex Luthor as Supes major pain in the butt. However, The Joker is just crazy and has that under current of evil that's so cool!!. My friend here of course goes with Lex because of what his money represents and the problems it causes Supes. He can buy or make better arsenals against Supes than Joker's able to do against Batman. I go with the Joker because I think the interchanges with him and Batman are way out there. Plus I feel that Joker respects Batman and truly feeds off of him to fuel his fire. Money doesn't have to be the bargaining chip with him. I don't know about this one. Again, Lex is a great foe for Supes though. But I've got to go with the Joker. Your thoughts??

Well, I gotta go with the Joker, after RotJ & Death in the Family. Luther's evil, but he's no Joker.

I agree. I think the Joker is a much more interesting, funny, wacky, and well-thought out villain. There's no limit to to his insanity, and that's what I like about him.

This is an interesting debate.
It's a tough choice, you can argue in favor for either of them really, but if pushed, I'd say the Joker.
Why? Well, Lex's mission is to stop/destroy/incapacitate, whatever you wanna call it, Superman. He has a tremendous amount of resrouces to help him move towards that goal. However, he's still first and foremost a [arguably] well respected citizen. He has to be a lot more careful in making sure that what he does looks like it stays in bounds of the law.
On the other hand, the Joker's a madman, he's insane, he's unpredictable, and he's an established criminal. Laws don't provide any sort of boundary in containing him. Half the time, I don't even think his mission is to kill Batman, rather to cause general mayhem. He's just too unpredictable to imagine what his next move might be. With Lex, I think it's a little easier to try to figure out what he can do next.

Joker is among the greatest and best known villains of all time. I don't think there is any compitition. Yeah: Lex is okay but the Joker is a brilliant character with a brilliant psyche when represented correctly, and I just think he is by far the best nemisis, and is up with the greatest villains ever.

joker all da way...
it'z kinda ironic how the supposedly most funny villain in the Batman universe is also the most psychotic and deadly one...

You ever notice what perfect foils these villians are?
Batman is a grim dark avenger, a stoic champion of the night. What better arch nemesis than a cheery clown that thinks life is one big joke, and wants to deliver the ultimate punchline.
Superman is quite possibly the strongest hero that has ever graced the printed page, he posseses near god-like powers. His nemesis? A normal human, with no discernable powers other than a shrewd business sense.
And after all that rant I will say Luthor, because it's really a tossup.

Generally I'd also say Joker, because no one else gives me the creeps like he does.
But Lex Luthor is the perfect villain for Superman. All of his superpowers are useless compared to Lex' influence, relations, control and power (not on a physical level).

is your friend my dad? cuz he's all pro-superman..lol
Uh..hmm...Joker..I Like joker better. Lex is OK, but Joker has too much wit.
Wit beats money...plus...Joker has a reason to be Batman's villian..he killed his parents (at least in some storylines he did.....). Lex..well..Lex is just a bad guy..

It depends on the hero: the Joker is the perfect nemesis for Batman, while Lex Luthor is the perfect nemesis for Superman.

Bird Boy, I don't think my friend is your dad, but he is a huge Supes mark. I guess we're equal cause I'm a huge Bats mark. Therefore, the constant debates between us. Actually both villains fit their heroes very well but I like what one poster said above that Joker is not bound to any laws which makes him more dangerous than Lex. Joker is so insane and so unpredictable that he to me is always more of a threat than Lex is.

I'm gonna have to go with Joker on the grounds that if Superman were to go up against Joker he would still pose a challenge, use of human sheilds, lots of dangerous traps and gizmos and that insane intellect; but if Lex and Batman face off, well Bruce has his own clout and money to throw about (End Game from NML for reference) and can face Luthor on his own turf (Lex's presidency aside). IMHO

my vote is with the Joker, simply because he looks like he has more fun with his job, hehe.
