View Full Version : Alternate JL Audio Intro

Does anyone remember back when Cartoon Network first launched their JL website, and the theme song was downloadable? I remember that it was a different take of the same theme used in the opening...the only difference being it built in speed somewhat. I might have been imagining it, but the music that plays over the intro always maintains the same exact (roughly) tempo, whereas this version sped up ever so slightly.

Am I crazy?

EDIT: Anyone who immediately answers "yes" to that question gets no points. It's too easy...

I'll be honest. I have no idea what you're talking about.

It wasn't those...

It was the Justice League opening theme, just as you hear it in the intro, only the music seemed to build towards a faster tempo ever so slightly at the part when Superman does his big punch in the visuals.

Basically, it was available online back when Secret Origins premiered, and even before. I remember downloading it around the time of the premiere and listening to it over and over. I think it was a different take of the opening theme.

The only thing I can think it might be is a rip from the early "Secret Origins" screeners, which had a 2D intro instead of the 3D intro. Music could have been different as well, not sure--it's been incredibly since I've even seen it.

I've been trying to locate a copy of one, I'll post it if it ever surfaces...

I wouldn't mind having the JL theme they played during Weird Western Tales, without all the talking over the end...that, and a copy of the Starcrossed theme from the DVD...I recorded it with a microphone once but it sounds all quiet and only plays out of the left speaker.

Karkull's watchtower site has the "JL Animatic Intro", the first link in the videos section...is that what you're referring to?

If that ain't it, the only other version I can think of is Starcrossed one, from the DVD that treated it like an actual movie.

What's that music from the animatic opening? It bears more than a passing resemblance to what the producers went with, but it's orchestral. Score from an epic movie?

It's the opening score from an old horror movie I think, as mentioned in a post by one of our insiders years ago. The JL theme is a rearrangement of that music.

Don't suppose you have that quote archived, Karkull?

Found it: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=99670

The music's from Twins of Evil (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069427/), a Hammer horror.

Oy fudge...I don't have real media player and can't upload it. Could anyone transfer it into Quicktime or Windows Media Player so I can finally get some sleep at night?

The link is above on the Watchtower site...I'm not sure if it's just an audio or a video track...cause I can't open it :anime:

Sorry man, I tried. I couldn't convert myself. Don't worry though, there are others that can help you.

The file is in RealMedia format; I'm not even sure it can be converted to another file type.

That said, here's a clean, helpful and otherwise handy program that'll let you play RealMedia files without having to introduce the ravenous beast known as RealPlayer into the jungles of your computer:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

I can't imagine how this might be against the rules; fundamentally, it's no different than downloading the free version of RealPlayer (downloadable here (http://forms.real.com/netzip/getrde601.html?h=software-dl.real.com&dc=327326325&f=windows/mrkt/RN31TRD/RealPlayer10-5GOLD_rs.exe&p=RealOne+Player&oem=rp10_dlp_1&tagtype=ie&type=rp10_dlp_1), in the interest of equal opportunity), so I don't think there's anything against me posting it here.

I'm giving it a go...

EDIT: Gaah! Our comps have an administrator, so running new programs isn't allow to me! I will never succeed in hearing this!

I found programs to convert the RM video to an MP3 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/8w6qae) (995 KB) and an AVI (http://www.sendspace.com/file/biophx) (8.14 MB). :)

I used Jodix RM to MP3 Converter (http://www.rm-mp3.org) and Real7ime Converter (http://r7cproj.euro.ru/indexe.htm) for the AVI. Both are free programs.

Do I have to have Realplayer for those to work? Because mine didn't go through.

I'm not sure, but I would assume that yes, you need to have it installed. I'm using Real Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm) on my computer.

Okay...so I listened to that Mp3 file, and it's...not the same JL intro song. It's similar, but different notes - I'm guessing they used the Hammer Horror song over the animatic? And that's what that sound file is?

...hate to say it again...but that's not what I meant. Maybe it doesn't exist, then, and maybe my comp was just playing it too quickly or something back in the day. But it was the exact same song that is the JL intro, only a different recording than the one used in the television show. Like if Joh Lennon was recording Imagine in a studio, and did a second take. It's the exact same song. It's just a different take, one where the orchestra speeds up slightly during the middle section, in comparison to the cut used in the intro, where the beat is constant and doesn't speed up.

Am I making sense here? Gah. I hate feeling like y'all are trying to figure this out with me, and we're not getting the answer...

..that Hammer Horror song is cool though...spooky!
