Does anyoen else here besides me think that the in episode advertisements are getting way out of hand.

I mean you watching your favorite show, when suddenly this large Red, Yellow and Black rectangle comes on screen and reminds you what your watching and whats coming up next. It's sooo obtrusive and anoying. It's also an bit condescending and insulting. It covers almost half the screen, I mean it's not ehough that they remind you at every single commercial break, they also have to invade your enjoyment of the show itself.

It really gets on my nerves. Cartoon Network has always had really annoying in episode ads. Remmember back when the Clone Wars cartoons were about to come out? They had this ad that played during the actrual shows where R2-D2 would show up on the bottom corner of the screen. His bleeps and whistles were sooo loud that you could not hear what the characters were saying durring the show you were watching.

I think that they should get rid of the red bars so it is just the black part

Ads during a program are simply the most abhorrent thing to happen to television, period. I can tolerate split-screen credits and network bugs, but lower-third ads just aren't acceptable, and Cartoon Network has some of the most intrusive ones out there (though Jetix takes the cake).

And yet, so many average viewers either don't notice them, or shrug them off, so it's not like any network will ever get the idea viewers don't like them. At this point, the networks likely think they're effective.

They are just sooo invasive. Someone needs to let them know just how annoying they are. This is one of the things I love about shows on DVD. No irritating in show ads, not even that little "C.N" Icon on the bottom corner, just clear picture.

I'm getting seriously agitated just thinking about those things!

For the record: I have NOT EVEN ONCE watched any show I saw advertised on one of those infernal banners! If anything, I've skipped them 'cause they've aquired such annoying associations.

Those tentacles that appear do have an annoying tendency to get in the way of the action.

I think the Miguzi one with the tentacles is the worst. It's like this whatever-it-is is trying to invade your TV screen!

I hate in episode ads because they take up like a quarter or more of the screen, so I can't see certain things. Networks only use them as a way to sneak in more advertising time during the given timeslot.

As much as everyone seems to hate them, they must be working on some portion of the audience, or else networks would stop using them (no sense wasting money on an ineffective ad).

^ I believe it.
And you can say the very same thing about spam.

Outside of Miguzi (those tentacles are just atrocious), CN's in-program ads really aren't that bad compared to many other cable networks. As you already said, Jetix is terrible. But also, try watching Spike TV or FX sometimes. They're easily the worst offenders. TNT and TBS are also pretty bad.

I remember once while watching TBS, it was getting close to the baseball season and they were advertising their telecasts of Atlanta Braves games. All of the sudden, in the middle of the Futurama, a baseball flies right at the screen from the lower left corner, and you hear a glass-smashing sound and the ENTIRE bottom half of the screen had a broken-glass effect overlayed on it. This was followed by the sound of a crowd cheering so loud that it was impossible to hear anything being said on the actual episode. As abhorrent as it was, at least it was being shown during a rerun episode. It's absolutely inexcusable when they do this during first-runs of new episodes.
