This is the talkback thread for Highlander: The Search for Vengeance trailer online (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=16002).
I was surprised by the quality of the animation having not really heard too much about this movie beforehand, but it looks really nice.

I'm hoping that this will have nothing to do with that awful awful series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highlander:_The_Animated_Series) a while back

It's a very very different and seperate issue.
Looks like someone crossed Fist of the North Star and Highlander. The fight scenes look nice enough.

Got a 404 error, but a youtube link is here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1dUZMpr0n0&mode=related&search=)-- assuming this is the same one.
Put simply, this looks really good and seems ready to deliver on the action. Definitely worth a serious look when it comes out.

Got a 404 error,
Just erase the last part of the link like this:

And you can right click/save from there. There seems to be another trailer on there, but I haven't looked at it yet
Animation's alright, a little stiff, but this will probably make up for the USA series. I really hate it when anime trailers have the narrator talk incessantly. It feels very 80s/early 90s.
Is this an original production made for America, or has it already been released in Japan?
Thar vaices sund sa Scott-ish!

It does have the feel of one of those super violent early 90s OVAs - lots of blood and not much substance. Still, I like Kawajiri so I'll check it out.

What's with all the sudden surges of Japanese companies making animes based on Western things all of a sudden?

This has been in planning for a while now actually. Besides, they owe us for that horrible American cartoon made a few years back.

Looks pretty decent, and I'm eagerly anticipating it. Especially since the new live action Highlander was easily the worst of the series.

That's been going on for decades.

Beatdigga,
Agreed. That was a pretty horrific piece of work, even by my "low" standards. Or evil standards if you prefer... In any case I am intrigued and hopeful this will prove to be a more entertaining piece. Certainly with Imagi involved, (their production of TMNT looks quite solid in my view), makes the prospect of this movie being worth while very probable.

Well, Madhouse is animating it, so that probably helps a lot too - they don't like to put their name on mediocre product. It was also written by David Abramowitz who was a writer on the live action TV series, which also helps as you have some one really familiar and interested in the Highlander universe writing it.
