Who is Star Saphire?

All I know about Star Saphire is that she will be in the Injustice Gang and that in the comics, she was an enemy of the Green Lanterns. But other than that, who knows who she is? What's her backstory?

Any information would be appreciated.

Her comics back story is as follows:

The Zamarons (the female counterparts of the Guardians of the Universe who are in charge of the Green Lantern Corps) were looking for someone to be their new queen. The only problem is that according to their rules, their new queen has to look just like she always has. So, they scour the universe looking for someone to be their new queen.

They find Carol Ferris (girlfriend and/or boss of Green Lantern Hal Jordan). The Zamarons give her a purple gem (and a pink and white costume which goes with it), turning her into the evil Star Sapphire. She commits various crimes as Star Sapphire until GL stops her. Without the gem, she forgets that she ever was Star Sapphire and returns to her nice personality.

Over the years, she comes in contact with the gem every now and then, causing her to become Star Sapphire occasionally.

Then, other complicated stuff happens that you're probably not interested in, such as the second Star Sapphire, who was in the Secret Society of Super-Villains, or the later plots tying Star Sapphire to the Predator (another GL villain) or the Golden Age Star Sapphire, or the plot in which Star Sapphire kills Green Lantern John Stewart's wife Katma Tui (another Green Lantern).

For some reason, I had recently been thinking Sinestro killed her... Dunno why, I know SS did, but I had been confused major time! I'll stop ranting now!

What kind of abilities does she have? Is she like sinestro (as in green lanternish powers but evil)?

Sort of, except that she almost always limits herself to flying and firing purple energy blasts. If you scour all of her dozens of appearances, you might find one or two occasions in which she creates an GL-type object, but that's the exception not the rule.

I'd like to know how they're going to reconcile Sapphire's origin, especially since it's rather Hal Jordan-oriented. I know in advance that her origin won't be covered in Injustice For All, but it's bound to come up in the series sometime.
