Wouldn't it be appropriate if Boomerang was broadcasting Filmation's animated TV series? I can only think of a number of Filmation programs that could be on Boomerang:

1. Tom & Jerry Comedy Show
2. Shazam!(with the Mighty Marvels)
3. Any DC Comics program produced by Filmation
4. Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids
5. Archies
6. Groovy Goolies
7. Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle
8. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
9. She-Ra, Princess of Power
10. New Adventures of Gilligan

If anyone else can think of other Filmation programs that could be broadcast by Boomerang, please post now.

Warner Bros. only owns the Filmation shows based on their characters, such as the DC superheroes. Boomerang does currently air the DC Filmation cartoons (Batman, Superman, Superboy, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Atom, Flash, Teen Titans, Justice League of America) in-between action shows, mostly around "Super Friends."

"The New Adventures of Batman" (the one with Bat-Mite) currently airs on AOL's In2TV. I'm pretty sure Warner also owns the live action and animated "Shazam!" shows and the two Gilligan shows ("The New Adventures of Gilligan" and "Gilligan's Planet"), so they could show these.

Otherwise, Paramount owns the animated "Star Trek" and I'm not sure exactly which company owns the rest of the Filmation library.

Entertainment Rights owns the majority of the Filmation library. They also recently acquired Classic Media, making them the holders of quite a bit of "classic" animation.

I know they don't have the rights but they seem Boomerang appropriet.

I know they don't have the rights but they seem Boomerang appropriet.I agree with you 100%. I would love to see shows like "The Groovie Goolies," "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," and "Flash Gordon" on Boomerang, as well as all of the other Filmation shows.

If Warner wanted to add more classics to Boomerang instead of adding Cartoon Network rejects, they could try and push to get the television rights to these Filmation shows and air them on Boomerang.

I wish WB would just buy out ER or BCI or whoever. They are so into takeovers now; why not. It would give Boomerang a fresh start, and they could even go back to the year by year format. Again, TBS and TNT should be opened back up with small cartoon blocks for all this newer stuff being dumped on Boomerang.

Their sets always seem to have more episodes, more special features, nicer packaging, no double-sided discs, wonderful disc art, and yet their cheaper than most of WB's DVD sets.

What does Saturday Supercade have to do with Filmation? It was done by Ruby-Spears Productions.

I know I'm hoping they'll put out the DC heroes on dvd UNEDITED. I really hate
that Boomerang is showing the original USA edits of the Flash/GL/Atom/etc.
and it'd be nice to see the original openings these cartoons had when originally shown (even on channel 5 in NY when I was a lad). I've heard they may start with the '67 Superman & Batman sometimes this year but a DC heroes dvd set would be great.

I want the animated Shazam back on TV. Ever since I saw the opening titles on "That Video Site That I Can't Mention", I've been all fired up. Maybe there should be a classic Filmation channel where all the rights holders could band together under some kind of co-op partnership thingie and air the old Filmation and Sid & Marty Krofft shows back on TV.

Actually, I think TV Land did that for a short time during a late night block or two. It was good to see Shazam back on TV, if only the live action.

What's the point in a channel when a lot of the Krofft and Filmation shows is out or in the process of coming out? It'd be great if Boomerang could mix these shows in.

I had been told that TVLand yanked off the Krofft stuff cause it wasn't pulling in the same numbers as Differ'nt Strokes. Which is a shame.

That's definitely Boomerang material-Warner Brothers, I believe, still owns the rights to Filmation's Shazam! animated program, which was broadcast on NBC Saturday mornings, back in the early 80s.

São Paulo - SP, Brazil, March 24, 2005 (Here I am, in the Brazilian Autumn/Fall!).

Hello, Kolbar, Zumbido Metal and friends who enjoy the Filmation series!

Here in Brazil (and also in Latin America), Boomerang (http://www.boomerangla.com/english or http://www.cartoonnetworkla.com/english/boomerang) aired (and still airs) various animated series produced by Filmation (http://www.louscheimer.com). And here are them (by choronological order):

- The Archie Show (1968), which also includes its respective spin-offs: The Archie's Funhouse (1970 [which's being aired this month]), Archie's TV Funnies (1971), The U.S. of Archie (1974) and The Archie & Sabrina Surprise Package (1977). The Archie-Sabrina Show (1969) and Everthing's Archie (1973) still weren't shown by the channel. The Archie franchise was produced in association with Archie Comics (http://www.archiecomics.com).
- Flash Gordon (1979-81). Produced in association with King Features Syndicate (http://www.kingfeatures.com).
- That ugly version from Tom & Jerry (which was produced in 1980), produced in association with MGM (http://www.mgm.com).
- He-Man and The Masters of Universe (1983-85). Produced in association with Mattel (http://www.mattel.com).
- The Adventures of Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids (the 80s version, produced in 1984), hosted by Bill Cosby.
- She-Ra: The Princess of Power (1985-87). Produced in association with Mattel.
- Filmation's Ghostbusters (1986), which's the animated version from the honomymous live-action series produced by the same studio (with Forrest Whitaker and Larry Storch in the cast).
- Bravestarr (1987)

As you can see, these are some of the Filmation series which were aired by Boomerang here in Brazil and on Latin America.
Well, that's it!
Ciao!

Cheers from this faithful friend who always writes 4 U,

I wouldn't want to see that happen BCI is doing a fine job with the dvd sets they are releasing I wouldn't want to see Sony, Warner or any other company buy them out.

As for seeing Filmation shows on Boomerang why not.
