Did anyone read the Gambit series? It was really good. Why did it get canceled?

I thought the issues with Steve Skroce as the artists were the best....after he left the series seemed to go downhill slightly. It was still good....but not quite AS good (in my opinion anyway)

I'm not sure why it was cancelled....just one of those Marvel things I guess....

Well, Fabian Nicieza got fired from the book, and it was handed to Scott Lobdell. They probably cancelled the book as soon as they got the first script from Lobdell.

I personally thought it was a really good book, and I'm not even a Gambit fan. I thought the writing was great (until issue #24, where a whole year's worth of story had to be done in, oh, and issue) and issue #25, while it had good art, was horrendus. Argh.

It's too bad the book got canceled, it had a lot of potential.

The first 12 issues rocked! It wa sone of Marvel's most enjoyable titles and thought it would actually last, a la WOLVEIRNE. It was cancelled when Quesada inplimented the 'X-Title implosion' and cancelled titles he thought were useless. Then again, with Lobdell on the title - he wasn't really wrong there. Issues #1 - 24 was very well done.
