In Batman #599, it says that Bruce Wayne's parents were murdered when Bruce was nine, nearly 25 years ago. That would make Bruce 34, in the comics at least.

We've known that Batman was 32-34 for a while now. But at least now, maybe some people will stop insisting he's 40.

So if Bruce is approx. 34, how old does that make Dick? I mean, he's got to be something around 21, right? So then, if he was 11'ish when his parents died and Bruce took him...then there's about a ten year difference between them?

I think Dick is 22.

I think Dick is 22.

Really? I don't know why, but I alwaus thought he was like 24 or 25. Maybe because he's so mature? ;)

I think of it this way. Bruce became Batman when he was 22 or 23. It allows him years to train, and is within the parameters of Year One. Dick became Robin at age 13 and was for five or six years, then became Nightwing at age 19. Dick is about 21 or 22 now. Barbara is about the same, a little older (23)

If Dick was Robin until he was 19, it gives Batman 6 years of being active from age 26 to 30. He took on Jason Todd at age 30 and Tim at age 31 or so. That makes it about two years since Tim has been Robin, which jives with what the comics say.

The problem with having Dick become Robin at 11 is that by the timeline, he would have become Nightwing at 17 or 18...which to me makes no sense because he seemed older right before he became Nightwing.

Hate to nitpick, but in Batman-Year One it states that Bruce is 25. Dick has to be at least 21-He worked in a bar for a while. In JLA-Secret Files (after the tower of babel thing) Dick states that he's trusted Batman with his life "since he was eight years old". However, in the current Mother Grim storyline going on in Legends of the Dark Knight, Dick states that he is eleven at the time of the story , and that his parents had only been dead two or three months.(sigh) So, who knows.

batman: legends of the dark knight is not necesarily tied into continuity. look in the letters section of batman#599

Actually, isn't Babs older than Dick? I thought that there was at least a 3-5 year difference between them. Geesh, the Batman world can be so confusing!

So if Legends doesn't count, that makes him eight when his parents died? That doesn't make any sense. I mean, eleven fits better.
