I was wondering if anyone could identify an upbeat and VERY cathy tune that frequenly shows up in many classic cartoons.
The song in question is the one that the delivery man was whistling while delivering Hippety Hopper the kangaroo in Who's Kitten Who? (with Sylvester & Sylvester Jr.), until he notices the "Out to Lunch" sign on the zookeeper's office door. This song also turns up as background music in the Flip the Frog cartoon The Cuckoo Murder Case (when Flip drives off in his police car), and plays several times in Injun Trouble (1938). Also, the wolf (Droopy's nemesis) whistles the tune in the opening scene of Blackboard Jumble, and it seems like I remember hearing it on The Flintstones a couple of times.

If anyone knows the title of this song, please post here. I really would like to know! :bosko:

That was a tune called KINGDOM COMING (JUBLIO) by H.C. Work - Stalling used it frequently - you can hear it at the end of UNRULY HARE as Bugs is walking into the sunset

KINGDOM COMING can also be heard in the scenes in "Better Bait Than Never" (Paramount) where Buzzy is disguised as "Captain Billy".

While we are on the subject, what is the name of the song that you usually hear when something with chickens happens or when you see a chicken onscreen?

Dunno if I'm 100% sure on this, but i think it's "Do Your Ears Hang Low." Just listen to one of those ads that are selling kids songs cd's and you'll hear it if you listen closely.

It could be "Do Your ears Hang Low" or "Turkey In the Straw." Parts of that song are similar to "Do Your Ears Hang low."

It's called Chicken Reel - Leroy Andersen orchestrated it back in the thirties, I think.

One of my favorites is the song used as the theme for Elmo the hick mouse in "A Hick, A Slick and a Chick". I have seen it in several WB cartoons (most notably in the above film and as background fare in "Gold Diggers of '49". ) I asked Jerry Beck about it some time ago, it's called "Rural Rhythm".
