I really wanted to do this thread lately. My favourite would have to be "Resident Evil".I think it was really closer to the video game.

as much unfaithfull as it it is, i quite enjoy the Mario bros. movie, tho it would have been better as a stand alone movie (i mean, removing the mario elements and just having an strange dystopic world intead of the mushroom kingdom).

Also: Silent Hill.

I voted for Mortal Kombat, but then I remembered Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. I think that one seriously owns all other video game-based movies.

But I also like MK, Wing Commander (yes), and Super Mario Bros. (in a way). Everything else I saw I thought sucked.

Mortal Kombat. It captured the essence of the video games extremely well, and had a hard-hitting soundtrack. Many times video games adapted to live action take tremendous liberties that make it rather difficult to enjoy for fans of the series (Street Fighter! Super Mario Bros.!), but MK kept most things from the series intact and offered some good fight scenes.

Mortal Kombat's a no-brainer; since the game itself is nothing so much as an interactive tribute to cheesy kung fu movies, all they had to do was make the cheesiest, silliest kung fu movie they possibly could. And man, it delivered in spades.

I'm the odd ball who actually likes the Super Mario Bros. movie. Just like I like the SMB cartoon. I know they're pretty badm but that's why I love them so much. They're just so fun to laugh at!

Maybe I'm just easy to please, but I've enjoyed all of them I've seen to varying degrees except House of the Dead. Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are probably at the top of my list.

Mortal Kombat is the only live-action video game adaptation I own, and unless things change, it's the only one for the forseeable future.

Mortal Kombat was the only one on that list worth a damn.

The animated Street Fighter II movie that was mentioned here was excellent though.

Mortal Kombat is the Citizen Kane of video game movies.

... which isn't saying much but at least its watchable.

I'd have go with Mortal Kombat as well. At least out of the ones I've seen, it's definitely the best.

Sequel sucked though.

They are all absolutely awful movies. Even Mortal Kombat is terrible, but I'll vote for it since it's the only one I can have fun watching.

Another vote for Mortal Kombat. Pretty much what everyone else has said.

I remember seeing Super Mario Bros. when it first came out. These days, it's a supreme guilty pleasure, but I liked it in '93.

I liked both MK and Mario, but went for Mario since I'm a bigger Mario fan than MK. And I was thinking that the Mario movie life would have been better if they went ahead with a sequel since the ending made you think the Turtle's were going to be involved that time

I haven't seen most of those (although I need to see Mortal Kombat), but I feel the need to defend Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. It wasn't that bad. It was merely mediocre-but-entertaining, not some horrible disease.

The original Resident Evil was great. I loved the fact that they did an original story while still keeping it in the same universe as the games.

The RE sequel was okay but I thought some of the fight scenes were a little ridiculous and drawn out. I also preferred the alternate ending because theatrical ending didn't make good sense.

I liked the first Mortal Kombat movie but the story was not very original. I think the game told of a much more interesting story than we got in the movie, too. I didn't care for the second movie much.

I've only seen the first Tomb Raider film. I seem to recall thinking it was okay but apparently it wasn't good enough to make me really remember much. I do remember that they wasted Chris Barrie's talent in this film.

I've never been able to force myself to watch the entire Super Mario or Streetfighter movies. And that's saying a lot because I've sat through many "Sci Fi Channel originals" that were total crap. But these two movies just make my head hurt every time that I've tried.

I haven't seen Doom or Bloodrayne. Does anyone recommend them? I've played through Doom and enjoyed it but I don't see how they could make a movie out of it.

Bloodrayne is awful. I saw it on Sci-Fi Channel and still felt like I was robbed of money. Doom has some decent visuals and a couple okay scenes, but mostly sucks. The Rock is cool, but wasted. The best part is the First-Person Shooter sequence.

Bloodrayne is awful. I saw it on Sci-Fi Channel and still felt like I was robbed of money.

I feel like a dope even attempting to defend Bloodrayne, but here goes. Your first problem is you watched it on Sci-Fi. Watching a movie, especially an R-rated one, on TV is never good. The only ones I like are when I've watched the DVD 500 times (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction) and can laugh at the edits, both the necessary ones and especially the needless ones. Bloodrayne also gets far more hate than it deserves just because of Uwe Boll. I'd never say its anything great, but it's really not that bad and plus it's got Ben Kingsley and Micheal Madsen in it.

Between edited on Sci-Fi and unedited on DVD, I can't imagine there's enough differences to make it any better. (And I certainly won't waste my money to find out.) The film even just looks like trash. And yeah, the film gets beat down because of Uwe Boll, but it's because he made a crappy movie. Another director would have made the film a different way. Perhaps better, perhaps not. But Uwe Boll made a terrible movie. (The guy's a hack and should just spare us all by disappearing back to Germany, or wherever he comes from.) Michael Madsen and Ben Kingsley make the movie all the more bewildering because you sit there going, "Guys, why are you wasting such gifted talents on this piece of trash?"

I'd rather watch a Martin Scorcese or Spike Lee movie than a Uwe Boll one. :D

I haven't seen most of those (although I need to see Mortal Kombat), but I feel the need to defend Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. It wasn't that bad. It was merely mediocre-but-entertaining, not some horrible disease. The Tomb Raider films were all right. I definitely liked The Cradle of Life more than the original, though. I liked the plot better, the old flame as her partner was a nice touch, and in many places it felt more true to the games than the original movie did. I liked its orchestral soundtrack a lot better, too (thank you, Alan Silvestri!).
