Looking at the ones on TV today, I've noticed that Abe Levitow (the director of Surf Bored Cat, among others) drew perhaps the ugliest version of Tom I'v ever seen. These shorts, and the whole Chuck Jones series of T&J shorts, while funny, lack the charm of the original series.

I just had a scary thought. What if the last few Saturday night Tom and Jerry airings are being reserved for the Gene Dietch cartoons?

I'd rather see those than sit through another hour of Chuck Jones/Abe Levitow shorts. These are fun in small doses, but one after the other, they start to drag. Who knows, they could show Hanna-Barbera's "Tom and Jerry Show" or Filmation's "Tom and Jerry Comedy Show" next!
