View Full Version : Did Alfred Molina really voice King Gustav from "Maid of honour"?

If he did then that is really weird.I mean the guy said that himself in an interview with "Wizard" magazine that he hated DC comics (If I remember correctly he also added a word beginning with "F" before "Hated").He kept saying how Batman was so bleeding moral and Superman's identity was the stupidest thing ever (Hes kind of got a point there to be honest). How could he say that and actually have the gaul to work in the Justice league show?

The very credits of the episode in question state "ALFRED MOLINA" so yes, apparently he did indeed have the "gaul" to voice a DCAU character. I'm sure that whatever misguided hatred he has for DC characters was well remedied by a nice tidy paycheck for his voice work in Maid of Honor.
Did the question of whether an actor clearly listed in an episode's credits indeed voice a character in said episode really need its own thread?

Wow, I totally figured it was George Newburn doing his "rough hushed voice #4".

Its not about Proof whether he voiced him,Its about why? I don't care about the Paycheck.I hate "Sex and the city" and even if they payed me a million dollars to guest star I wouldn't do it.

??? I'm confused as to what you just said....
*EDIT*
Okay...I just read your first post, and okay...so he doesn't love comics. I take issue with them too, but that doesn't mean I'd turn down work in them. I'm just surprised they'd get such a big name actor to do such a small role. Just one of those nice parts about the DCAU and Andrea Romano.

I'm shocked he would do such a tiny role if they got him to do something at all...it's like paying Marlon Brando to be an extra.
OK, maybe not on that scale.
So, he doesn't like the comics? So what. I doubt he's every really read much...God knows why he said that. Something to do with the fact he was in a Marvel movie--a really good Marvel movie...
I don't like the mainstream comics much myself. Too much pretention and too many long-winded story arcs that try to rob you with crossing over into fifty books for two years.
Off-topic...Can't wait to see Alfred Molina in the play Howard Katz in a few weeks...

It's a play he's doing in New York for the Roundabout Theatre Company, which I subscribe to.

Oh...cool.Anyway I guess this thread was a waste of time.If Any MOD could close this thread,I would appreciate it.
Given that he had about six lines in the entire show, I doubt he'd get too worked up about working on the show. He says he doesn't like DC comics, but hell, he could be a massive fan of Batman Beyond for all we know.
Bare in mind, given his age and when he said he read comic books as a child, Batman was fast becoming a camp icon and Superman was fighting fat men in suits.
On the plus side though, he was utterly brilliant as Doc Ock. Wonder if he's thought about returning to voice acting. That's enough fanboyisms for today, Stu lad!

Money can sway just about anyone.
The legendary Orson Welles from the golden age of radio, the dude behind Citizen Kane, played his final role in "Transformers: The Movie." However, he despised the role, and couldn't even remember the name of the film. He told his biographer that he was "playing a toy" in "a film about a line of toys from Japan who do horrible things to each other."
However, that never stopped fanboys from gushing over his presence in the movie. I love Transformers, and I love Orson Welles. But knowing that Welles hated Transfomers pretty much kills the fanboy thrill of having Orsen in Transformers.

I don't really think they could pay Alfred Molina enough to interest him in doing something he hates.
Unless he REALLY needed the money... which I don't see as he's a pretty big name and has been in a number of successful films.
Orson REALLY needed the money. :P

Lots of actors from Orson's era tended to have trouble later in life, I don't know if that happened to him but if it did, then his role in Transformers makes sense. And although Molina may have hated DC comics back in the day maybe he really liked the Bruce Timm shows, lots of actors who've guest starred seem to be fans. The DCAU has plenty of differences than the comics.

Poor Orson Wells, he really fell on hard times. "Don't drink this wine before its time."
