This is the talkback thread for Shin-chan Returns to Adult Swim, DVD in August (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=15266).

Glad to know the show is coming back sooner rather than later at least. Wish they had a firm airdate though.

Shin-chan is the perfect anime comedy for Adult Swim. We've all known that for years. And now at last it's happening. Hurrah!

Great effin' news, as far as I'm concerned.

If anyone's wondering about a Japanese track with subtitles, FUNimation's PR guy's stance on it is "I don't see why we wouldn't do that." In other words, they do a Japanese w/subs track for all their DVDs, so anyone assuming anything different for this shouldn't.

Excellent news. I can't wait to see more Shin-chan hijinks. And I'll definitely be buying the DVDs. :D

Some fans probably thought that because the English dub is rewritten for adult audiences, FUNi wouldn't put the Japanese track on there to see the differences. Which doesn't make sense since FUNi always put the Japanese track on their releases.

Anyway, good news on Shin-Chan coming back to AS. That's two adult shows they've picked up KuwabaraTheMan and Sketch.;)

Awesome news! This series just had to come back. Kudos to FUNimation for trying to get more than just action-oriented anime series on Adult Swim. I can't wait!

Heh glad to have Shin Chan back (and yeah even if it's not a solid air date, late spring/early summer isn't too far away. And most what 5-6 months before Shin Chain airs?). Hope it's a decent size episode order too. I mean last time we had 6. Hope we at least get 26 with this next batch.

For years? Most people said this would be horrible for AS before they saw it in action.

Eureka Seven is ending mid to late April so I guess that means will be seeing Crayon Shin Chan by then.

Awesome! This, and the new Venture Bros. season, will be an incentive for me to start watching AS again!

Woohoo!!!

I like the fact that it's a season DVD which means at least thirteen episodes

My only problem I have with the DVD release is FUNimation isn't releasing them in order.

Well, anywho. This is good news regardless.

Great news even though we knew this was coming.

I'm hoping AS actually gives this a chance to succeed. That is: they market it, order a enough of episodes, and give it a decent time slot on Sunday.

I officially forgive them for their talking butt cop show.

Now let's hope they don't cancel it prematurely as they did Lupin and Case Closed.

Why Sunday?

Why Sunday?

Because it's a comedy and also because no one will watch it if it's on Saturday.

Though now that you mention it, I would not mind if it were on weekdays. I doubt they are making enough episodes for that though. And if they did, it may result in lower quality.

Blood+.

Blood+ is Shounen, so they're only at 1 Adult anime so far.

No, I'm merely pointing out it isn't adult.

No, I'm merely pointing out it isn't adult.

Things can be mismarketed, KTM. Blood+ is based off an adult movie, appeals to adults, and honestly shouldn't be viewed by the same younger kids who watch Naruto or even Fullmetal Alchemist as far as I'm concerned. It may not be a mature social commentary like Paranoia Agent, but last time I checked adults tend to highly enjoy gory action-centered popcorn flicks with some heavy themes that are there to think about if you wish but aren't vital to the overall experience. So do teenagers, but also the last time I checked Adult Swim had no problem with teen viewers as long as the college-age crowd tuned in as well (which I'm pretty sure they will assuming this show gets good promotion).

Just for a challenge, can you name 5 anime you actually consider "adult" (and hentais don't count).

My point was merely that the manga runs in Shounen Ace, thus it is shounen. This doesns't mean it's a poor fit for AS, I can't say that without having seen the show, and from what I've heard, it would fit AS more than Toonami.

Paranoia Agent
Crayon Shin-chan
Lupin the 3rd
Monster
Berserk

Just the first 5 that came to my mind.

I don't see how Shin-chan can be considered adult. It has adult themes, yeah, but no more than the average Adult Swim 11 minute comedy show and I wouldn't really call any of them mature, adult comedies.

Well, the Shin-Chan manga runs in a seinen magazine and those are targetted towards adults.

Those are 'adult' though. Not 'mature', but still targeted at adult viewers.

I know I didn't. I said it looked like crap.

I still think it looks like crap. It's just really, really funny.

If "Adult" swim can have a show about a talking butt, why can't they air Goddannar UNCUT?

yeah... so i'm just gonna guess that you've never seen this show:shrug:

i'm afraid i'm gonna have to eat crow. i was 100% sure Shin Chan would suck in America, and this turned out to be a huge surprise.

Boobies. The people that get anime for Adult Swim (not naming names this time) get offended when anime characters show them off.
