View Full Version : A perhaps silly question on UK customs

I often have stuff coming from Japan. A recent delivery was larger than usual and so customs have gotten involved. After the item didn't show up for nearly a month, I used the tracking number and this is where I found it had been sitting for 3 weeks waiting for customs review. I sent a polite but annoyed e-mail and funnily enough the next day it started moving. However a customs charge was applied and now it's sitting at the Milton Keynes depot waiting to be paid. Last I was told some years back, post for Bedford passes through there. However, all contact with Royal Mail makes it sound like it won't be allowed to leave Milton Keynes till the customs are paid. I e-mailed them and asked if it would at least be sent on to the main Bedford depot so I (or my family) could go pay for and collect it....all I got back was a useless reply about how I'm not allowed access to it due to the customs cost.

So can anyone here be more helpful? Thanks.

All I know is that they usually charge for anything over £20 going by my experience.. have they sent details on how to maybe pay by cheque? Probably not or you'd have it by now.. :) forget I asked.

How much of a help am I?? :)
