View Full Version : Where Can I Buy...? (a test of concept)

For a while now, I thought it could be a useful resource to create a list for users of this forum looking for anime/manga merchandise. In theory, it would list various sellers both online and offline who members have had good experiences with and which sell a range of merchandise. Everything from books and DVDs to keyrings and pencil boards.
For this to work I need to state this is NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD. The idea would be members leave examples of good stores and explain why. These would then be added into the master list in this first post. From this we can build up a useful database.
So,let's get this test underway...

Most everything...DVDs, Manga, tchochkes, etc.
www.RightStuf.com (http://www.RightStuf.com) They really do have almost eveything from the major distributors of merch in stock. More limited things that were only sold in Japan they don't have so much of, but if it was made for the USA and is not sold out nationwide, they have it.

Region 2 DVDs
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/ - has a large selection of region 2 dvds, from anime to Japanese movies. It also has a large selection of Japanese CDs as well. There is also a smaller selection of figures.
Play-Asia.com (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-71-9-49-en.html) - This site is a good source for Anime DVDs and Asian live action DVDs. It's also a great source for Japanese video games.
*Link removed* has a great selection of anime and japanese/chinese/korean films which have yet to be released in the US. All region free, with good subtitles, and sometimes shockingly cheap. Most movies are about $8 each. I've gotten all my One Piece from them, and even got a copy of Cashern for only $8. I was about to pick up Cutey Honey too, but Media Blasters finally announced that it'll be out soon.
That site is all bootlegs as well...

Why not stick with the simple...www.amazon.com
They have DVDs, and their usually cheaper than your average store or website, especially during the holiday season where AS DVDs were 10 dollars each. Good well-known website.

Yeah, but Amazon doesn't have everything. It's good for stuff in the US, but not so much for imports and the like.

I don't really buy that kind of stuff. Do you mean imported music like The Pillows or something, or do you mean imported anime, do they have subtitles on Japanese anime DVDs, and would they even work with a US formated DVD player? Or are you just giving me a hard time again KTM ;)?

May I point out the point of this thread isn't just where to buy localised merchandise, but official merchandise from across the world.

Not DVDs for me, but I do like getting some models and figures from Japan, stuff you can't really find in America.

There's also DeepDiscount.com (http://forums.toonzone.net/www.deepdiscount.com), which has a good selection of Anime on DVD; however, the titles as well as prices often vary, so it's not always the best choice.
Other than that, AnimeNation (http://forums.toonzone.net/www.animenation.com) has some good deals every once in a while, especially on pre-orders. They sell a lot of imported materials as well.

I've actually just ordered something from CDJapan. I'll be interested to see how they do, they got the item out within a few days.
I think the DVD list will probably need greater clasification.

Ok, lets see what you guys can come up with here
www.DBZStore.com has some really neat Club Shirts I've brought in the past.
I've been looking long and hard whenever the mod hits to find some new club shirts and have had a hell of a time finding some of the newer series club shirts (EG Yu Yu, Bleach, Naurto, etc).
Anyone stumble across a site that has those?

As I said, this isn't a discussion topic. That means more work for me as I have to wade through posts that don't add to the aim of this thread looking for those that do. If you want to ask for a specific item, please make another thread. The idea here is to build up a list so hopefully people won't have to worry about needing to make such threads and more easily find what they want.
