This is the talkback thread for CN Upfront: "Ben 10" Live Action and Animated Movies In Production (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=15127).
Not a fan of Ben 10, but part of me says that they're going to horribly rush the live-action movie and it will have some of the worst CG you've ever seen in any movie ever. Also, it seems like a pointless and rather expensive idea.

Yup. It will most likely blow. Big time.
Don't know what CN is trying to do here...

Animated TV movie, sounds good. Live action... uh... well...
Actually I don't dread it. There's no reason why it has to suck. Ben 10 is a franchise that features human beings as the main characters and those aliens could be recreated quite well with CGI. The only problem is when it's a cartoon it can get away with a bit more cheese... when it's LA then it's a lot more unbearable when it's cheesy IMO. Hopefully they put some good talent behind it. But as I said, it shouldn't have to suck. They should be able to make it a great movie.
I'm pretty sure this is CN's answer to Nick's annoucement of the Avatar movie/s.

This is a theatrical movie right? Cause if it is only a tv movie, then this will be ****
Hoesntly, never really cared for Ben 10, but talk about really whoring out Ben 10 in a way. 2 Movies and 52+ Episodes in a span of less than 2 years probably.

An animated TV movie is understandable, but a live action movie sounds awful. The series isn't even good in the first place, and it doesn't seem like it would translate well to live-action. It'll probably end up being and looking rushed, as mentioned by Matt.
Although, if we're all lucky, this will end up like the Johnny Bravo and KND live action movies (i.e. dead).

No cartoon network show should be turned into live action(Except Johnny, that might be a reasonable fit for live action)

Well gotta say I'm not impressed by the director choice... But maybe he'll surprise me.

Oka,y so we still have no idea if this is a theatrical thing, and casting hasn't even finished, and this is suppossed to come out in December? I smell failure

I wouldn't bet on a theatrical if they plan it for December, but I would bet on a delay because December is far too soon for them to pull off an action movie. So yeah... if they do make it by December it does smell like failure.

The animated Ben 10 movie doesn't surprise me. Ben 10 still is one of their highest rated shows, hence why it's on Miguzi, and new episodes return this Saturday, but a live-action Ben 10 doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I can only imagine how CGI is going to affect the aliens in this movie.

Wow, dual announcements of animated and live-action Ben 10 movies.
I bet this'll be as great as the time CN announced animated and live-action Samurai Jack movies. Those turned out great, didn't they?

Live action? That's a pretty dumb idea...

I'm interested in the Ben 10 animated tv movie but I shudder at the idea of a Ben 10 live action. When will CN stop with all of the Live Action junk?

Ben 10 has never been any more than "watchable" to me. SO the animated movie doesn't do anything for me. The live action movie makes me want to put a bullet through my head though. When will Cartoon Network start acting like its name again?

Gee I see all the naysayers in the joint smelling up the works..
Time to get out the air freshener...
Frankly I feel personally that a Ben 10 Live action might work, but then again the Naysayers might be right about this one..(after all I've seen similar ideas placed forth for for even Disney shows Like a Live action American Dragon or (*Shudders at this thought) A Live action Kim Possible. (I'll even admit I saw a rather cheesy KP done by amateurs and I have to say this.. Don't quit your day jobs.) But the idea of Using CGI of the aliens might be the only thing that saves the idea.. Add to that a fun director and you never know you might have a hit on your hands..(Hate to say this but I take a "Wait and See" Attitude on this one..(After all A lot of folks thought Kim Possible Jumped the shark this season.. Sorry, she hasn't jumped at all.. at least not yet!)
But as for the animated side of the story... I think this animated Ben 10 Movie might just work.. why? Because of the fact that this builds on the story of the original series.. in fact I applaude CN for that positive decision. As long as they keep the idea and the designs relatively the same, I say They should have a good one here..
So as I would say.. Don't slam the animated Wildmutt, He might come back to bite a few people in the tush... but as for the Live action? My attitude is wait till they show us a few clips/teasers then decide.. but until then.. it's wait and see.

First things first! Why is CN trying so hard to bring Live Action to it's network?
Bill & Ted = Never gets old, extremly funny.
Saul of the Mole Men = What were they smoking when they made that? This isn't an atempt to be funny or insulting, I'm dead serious.

CN is trying to appeal to a broader audiences.
I hope Ben 10 live action movie isn't like Re-Animated. :(

I don't know how the live action movie will turn out, but I was impressed with Alex Winter's enthusiasm for the project. He seemed to be coming at it from the perspective of a sci-fi fan, eager to make something that would satisfy the Ben 10 fanbase. It sounds like the budget may be a little tight, as he talked about making the CG low quantity but high quality. He does have some background with CG so hopefully he can deliver there. Besides he said that if he failed to make a satisfying film his son, a Ben 10 fan, would kick him out of the house.

I think a live action movie can be good, HOWEVER...if you're skimping on the budget and the actors aren't 'real'....it's just gonna suck. Let's hope Cartoon Network can get their ducks in a row!

Congratulations. Hope you do well!
Just a quick comment. This is suppossed to air in September. Don't movies normally take about 6 months to shoot?, and another 3 months to edit?

Not for Cartoon Network original movies. Re-Animated was shot in a similar time frame.

Most movies take at least 3 years! But then agian this is a TV Movie so, it would take maybe around 4 months, I would assume. But there actually only shooting for 3 weeks!!! I just got cut from casting.

Sorry to hear you were cut. Do you know what they are doing about Ben Tennyson? Do they have someone in mind or are they doing casting for him?
