I was reading up on DC VS Marvel on Wikipedia (Yes, a toon zoner's greatest adversary). It list various DC/Marvel Crossover before 1996, including this:

Aquaman #56 (1971) and Sub-Mariner #72 (1974) - An unofficial crossover in which the Sub-Mariner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sub-Mariner) tidies up some loose ends from an Aquaman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquaman) adventure. Both issues are the last in their series and are written by Steve Skeates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Skeates).

Anymore detail on this "crossover"?

Thanks

Further digging via Wikipedia (a scant two clicks away from the Wiki entry you referenced, I might add) yields this:

Dial B for BLOG (http://dialbforblog.com/archives/162/).

In reading, it appears that the writer (Steve Skeates) used elements from an Aquaman story he intended to continue prior to that title's cancellation in a later issue of Sub-Mariner. Obviously, Aquaman did not and could not appear named in the "continuation" in the pages of Sub-Mariner. An unofficial crossover in the utmost.

Sounds a lot to me like what Steve Gerber tried to do with Destroyer Duck and Howard the Duck (http://www.toonopedia.com/destroyd.htm).
