View Full Version : Help with the Banned June Bugs cartoons please?
I need a list of the 12 Bugs Bunny cartoons that were banned from this years airing of June Bugs and just what content they were banned for.
Its kind of important so if anyone could post them under hee, I'd be greatly appreciative ^___^

The 11 ("What's Cookin' Doc" did, in fact, air) were basically banned for their use of racial stereotypes:
All This & Rabbit Stew: African-American
Any Bonds Today: Japanese and/or German, I assume (can't remember)
Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips: Japanese
Bushy Hare: Aborigine
Feather in His Hare: American Indian
Frigid Hare: Eskimo
Herr Meets Hare: German
Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt: American Indian
Horse Hare: American Indian
Mississippi Hare: African-American
Which is Witch: African

Actually Any Bonds Today has also been banned because of Bugs Bunny's blackfaced Al Jolsen scene.
Yeah, but what's cookin' Doc?" never airs elsewhere, eccept the BC show, I believe, and an episode of Toonheads, so I still count it.

1. All This and Rabbit Stew. Contains a black character with big lips who likes to gamble.
2. Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips. World War II cartoon with Japanese stereotpyes with buck teeth and thick glasses, whom Bugs calls "slanty eyes" and "monkey face."
3. Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt. Contains a dopey Indian.
4. What's Cookin Doc? Contains a clip from Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt. (Cartoon Network changed its mind and aired this cartoon on June Bugs).
5. Frigid Hare. Contains an eskimo whom Bugs calls a "big baboon."
6. Mississippi Hare. Contains black workers picking cotton and singing "I Wish I Was in Dixie." An exploding cigar turns a white man's face black. Has the song "Clampdown Ladies." Has a take on the title "Uncle Tom's Cabin" as "Uncle Tom's Cabinet."
7. Horse Hare. Lots of Indians in this one. One of them is referred to as being a "half breed."
8. A Feather in His Hare. Has an Indian.
9. Which is Witch. Has an African witch doctor, and two native Zulus.
10. Bushy Hare. Has an Australian aborigine.
11. Any Bonds Today. Bugs does a blackface Al Jolson impression.
12. Herr Meets Hare. This cartoon makes fun of Nazis.
13. My Bunny Lies Over the Sea. Contains a stereotpye Scottish guy with red hair, wearing a kilt, playing the bagpipes, and speaking in a very stereotype Scottish accent. This cartoon was banned because it is very offensive to people of Scottish ancenstry. Oh, wait. They didn't ban this one. On the contrary, they promoted this one. What a contradiction for them to treat this one so differently than the other 12.
14. Pubic Hare. Bugs and Elmer have some wild, crazy, kinky fun. Oh, wait. This cartoon doesn't exist.
I don't view the situation as "The cartoons were banned because of their content." Instead, I view it as "The corporate bosses are a bunch of politically correct wackos with no sense of humor."

If it did exist, then it would have to only be part of a lost gag/fake blooper reel or something.

I saw it about 3 months ago on either a Saturday or Sunday morning airing of either "Bugs and Daffy" or "The Looney Tunes Show."

Here's something that I recently learned from your website: Fast Buck Duck was the only cartoon that aired twice during Mi-looney-um.
