Although, it is back to the "Monster of the Week". I still thought this was a great episode. The two relationship triangles (Clark-Lana-Whitney & then Lex, his dad & Victoria). Complete opposites of each other. Even Lex makes comment of it by saying what Clark did to help Whitney is something he admires(although, he wouldn't of). This episode showed that if you have good writing, you can have a new "monster" every week.

ps-Poor Chloe, She reminded me of the way Clark looks and feels for Lana.

pss- I liked Pete's little dig on Clark at the beginning. He said something to the effect as he could never see Clark being into flying.

I think chloe is the lois of the show . me and my wife think she and clark should go out but that's probably not gonna happen. Is victoria becoming a show regular she was in the little wb mini commercial.

I really liked the Ep. My question is..when will Lana find out about Clarks powers?? She does find out. But when? Will it be this season..or next..or not for a while??

I also liked how Clark was hit in the head with that mid evil weapon, and it just shattered. I am also REALLy looking forward to next weeks Ep. Clark gets shot, and Jonathan sells the farm.. AWESOME!

I think this episode was a cut above the villian of the week formula of the past. Tho it was a disappointing let down after the previous new episode that shattered the formula.

Anybody else noticing the constant use of the colors blue, red and yellow in this series? I noticed it in several places, but definately at the football field and the sun set sky was blue, red and yellow.

Also, that altar to Lex made me laugh. It looked so funny to me for some reason.

I really liked this episode. It wasnt great, bt the character interactions were really enjoyable. I didn't think the freak of the week was that bad, more enjoyable than before ones. I think it says something about the show, when I like the shows where the plots arent spectacular, but the character interactions can carry the show. Lana & Clark, Clark & Lex, and so on. They've really done a great job fleshing out the characters and making them likeable.

What would you have done if you were Clark with Lana in his loft? I'm not sure what I would do, I was hoping Clark would pull a Lex. I knew he wouldn't, but whew. Tough call.

It was nice to hear about Lex's mom. It sounded like he had a completely different relationship with her. I wonder if this version of Lex will have some of his mothers' characterstics.

btw, I doubt anybody else picked up on this, but the music Chloe was listening to in the scenes with her and Clark was by Vigilantes of Love, my personal favorite band. That really helped make Chloe my favorite character pretty quick! That is one band that deserves to be heard more.

Well, a really enjoyable episode! I feared that the villain would be exactly who it seemed to be but part of me hoped that the writers would throw a curveball. I even thought "Who else could it be" but the brother never came to mind!

The Lex alter was funny! No offense to bald people, but he looked like Mister Clean for Pete's sake!

I liked seeing the Lana/Whitney/Clark circle examined, but the way it was done really bothered me. In fact, I'd go as far to say that I'm starting not to like Tom Welling's Clark anymore. He may be all smiles when Lana's around, but he used his powers to pry into Whitney's personal life, and then threw it in his face. How was it his buisness that Whitney's Dad is sick? He abused his powers, which really bugged me. And what bothered me even more was how he just started pursuing Lana, even though she was only momentarily split with Whitney. Something was wrong from the get-go, and he should have made certain that they were over before going in for the kill. He really wasn't much a gentleman, to say nothing of his agression. He's always ready for a fight, which really disturbs me, especially since so many kids look up to Superman.

And what was with that shower scene? Smallville gets plented of viewers every Tuesday, so it's not like they need partial nudity to get attention. It made me feel like I was watching some cheap teen flick. Does everybody on the show have to look perfect? The only overweight person we saw (save that coach) ended up being locked away. Sure, the cast should look good, but do all "teen" shows have to star 24-year old ex-models? Whatever...

Oddly enough, I enjoyed Chloe, Lex and that shy girl the most this week. Allison Max used to have a series before this right? "The Secret World of Allison Max" right? Well, she's very good at being sincere. I feel for her. Lex almost looked like he was about to cry (eyes were reddish) when the family left the mansion. This guy can't be all bad! And whoever played the shy girl really gave her a different approach. She wasn't the typical shy girl, she seemed very innocent, secretive and hurt. Nice job. Hope we see her again! All this, and John Glover shows up too! Yay!

Much better with the villain of the week concept. Has anybody ever wondered what would happen if one man or woman possessed all of these teens' kryptonite-derived powers? They could eat a horse, be invisible, shake like a leaf, control fire, freeze anything they touch and have the metabolism of a bug! Look out Clark!!!

Was anyone else disturbed by the whole blood drive subplot? Suppose mutant blood got into the Red Cross supply and was delivered all over the country. There's no telling where the tainted Smallville blood could end up--creating an epidemic of mutancy that'd make AIDS look as mild as a head cold.

We get teased by a near-kiss from the Teen of Steel and Lana...and we have to wonder about Lex and Victoria. "You don't love her. She's going behind your back. Why do you keep her around?" "It's complicated." Of course, if I knew why men lust after women they know are poison, I wouldn't be single still. Mr. Luthor is a misogynist who could care less whether or not his son is in a healthy relationship, and wouldn't express concern about it at all if it didn't put his precious company at risk.

Note Pete's remark about Clark not being the type for flying, as well as Lana's line about Clark's double life...metahumor city....

Did the whole opening sequence remind anyone else of the second Batman Beyond ep with Willie Watt? Come to think of it, the ending was right out of Hollow Man...and Amy's brother was mopped up pretty fast. Lex's handling of the sevants is interesting--something between compassion and coldness, where he won't press charges but decides it'd be best to terminate them. Also interesting is Lex choosing Napoleon to emulate....

Is the medicine really for Whitney's father? I got the impression he was lying. It just seemed suspicious he'd be carrying it around in his backpack and bringing it to school (of course, I went to a public school where anything stronger than aspirin found on someone was grounds for expulsion), rather than taking it directly home. Plus wouldn't Lana be aware of something like that? Seems a guy could, if it's real love, tell his girlfriend that his dad's sick. Is there something he isn't telling Lana? A possible congenital heart defect, exacerbated by Smallville's decidedly unhealthy green and glowing climate?

Loved the look on Chloe's face when she saw her fingertips were missing--and Clark's alarmed expression when he thought she'd cut herself on the broken mirror. Could it be--? heh, heh, beh.

Fianlly, note the title of the second song on the soundtrack--"Superkara". An oblique ref to Supergirl!

Good episode with good character interaction.
Damn, Clark must be made of steel....to have Lana looking at you like that and change the subject. Did he do the right thing...Yes! In that situation, I would have done the same thing. In situations like that there are many guys/friends that would gut you like a pig to get the girl....but that's another story.
Clark has to be more careful about using his powers, especially in Lex's house. "Clark, not much goes on in here, that I am not aware of"
In the episode of Rogue when Clark doged the bullet...was that just his reaction? I am sure by now he is aware that he is impervious to damage. In the occasions that we has been directly attacked he seems shocked, ie. the knife shattering scene.
What season do you think we will have Clark experiencing flying & heat vision? Correct me if I am wrong, wasn't he floating above his bed at the beginning of one episode?

Yup he was. I was a mix of fantasy and horror...

In his dream, he was above Lana's bed looking down upon her, and then she said "It's all your fault" namely, the death of her parents...

This was one of my fav eps so far. The point where Nell walks in when they were about to kiss was hiralious. I kinda suspected the girl was the villian, but somehow i knew it was the brother.

Well, this was a better way to have the super-powered-teen-of-the-week theme. But i knew it was the brother ;)

Also, yeah, i think Clark did the right thing w/ Lana. And yeah, unfortunately i would do the same thing. But in the scene on Lana's porch, i kept thinking "No! If he succeeds, then i can't relate to him anymore!" :p But then at the end, i've been where he was.

It was nice how we hear about Lex's mom for the first time. Heck, everything about Lex was perfect in this ep.

I'm looking forward to next week's edition!

Yeah, next week looks like it's gonna be a great one. After Lex shoots up Clark, I wonder how he's not gonna figure out Clark's secret. Amnesia maybe?

Hey guys, if you go to www.smallvilletorch.com then click on a Lex corp ad, then go to intranet, there's the same password login thing Victoria was looking through. The password is for us to figure out... stupid WB website admins... -_-

First off, I'm surprised at the difference between this thread and another Smallville forum I visit. The other one is not this calm.

When Jeff stood up to the jock in the bleachers at the beginning, I knew he was The Invisible Kid. It never crossed my mind that it could be the sister. I knew it was the brother...and that actually annoyed me. I was hoping it was the sister so I could give the writers some bonus points.

Though, they get major bonus points for trying to drown Victoria and lots of Lex/Clark interaction.

All in all, it was enjoyable...but just because of Lex. I want to see next week's...bullet holes, anyone?

Okay. Do you guys really believe that Jonathan sells the farm and Lex shoots Clark next week? Another villain of the week. Actually, it's probably the morphing girl that tried to take over Lana's life.

Loved this eppy! When will Chloe find out Clark's secret? She needs to know! I, for one, was surprised that Jeff was the Invisible Menace...

Comic Reference

Lex and Victoria kept looking at Cadmus Labs files on the computer!

Pete said, "C'mon Clark, selflessly giving yourself up to save others? Chicks dig that!" (exact words may vary)

Actually next week's ep is:

called Hug. Don't ask me about all the details, but I know there's this man with the power of persuasion, hence Johnathan selling the farm.

Oh. hey, cool. So maybe he has Lex under some mojo when he shoots Clark.

I really REALLY like the way they are handling Lex's charecter. He is absolutely my favorite guy on the show, especially after this ep. I just can't wait to see where he's going to end up (as a villian?) I'm on the edge of my seat, and completely rooting for him to come out on top! Before this show I would have said there wasn't a way for me to like Lex Luthor, he's such an evil prick everywhere else but here. Man, what a great idea. Make people sympathize with the monster. (speaking metaphoricly)

grrrrrrrrr....and he's cute, too.

Another winner! Lex probably knows about Clark, because Jeff says "Lex thinks you're special... I'm special too."

But the two best lines in the episode go to Clark:

"You really wanna thank me? Don't talk about Whitney."

(looking at Lana)

"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

You know that sunrise scene seemed weird to me. I think it was because the sun and sky looked so fake, I swore it was some kind of dream sequence at first, but when it didn't end...

I wonder if it will touched on again what Clark did for Lana & Whitney? I mean does both Lana & Whitney know that Clark is the reason they are still together.

Same here. I think it was hard to create the perfect background with nothing but real life stuff, so they add in that crap.

Adding some other things:

I thought that Lana's line "we missed it" was nice. It was a nice line about the sunset and their first chance to really be together.

Also, i really didn't like Clark's "we're finally friends and i don't want to ruin that" speech. I understand why he said it, but, i don't know... i just didn't like it. The rest of his spiel was perfect, but, that just seemed... out of place, or something.

I knew it was the brother the whole time...twas very formulatic...

I gotta say...the whole relashonship stuph with Clark/Lana/What's his face...doesn't do much for me. It's not really adding to any of the characters...=\

"That crap" was to keep the look of the show consistent. While I agree that the sunset looked off, anything other than yellow, blue, and red in the background would throw the color scheme off for the show.

Also noticed that the paint that fell on the invisible boy was also red and yellow? There was probably blue in there, also, but I am not sure.
