Tonight, Ken Kennedy gets another shot at Batista's World Heavyweight Championship. Kennedy lost at the Rumble but has beaten Batista before, will he change the face of WrestleMania and affect the No Way Out main event in more subtle ways tonight?

Royal Rumble Rematch

As ordered by General Manager Theodore Long, next week on SmackDown Mr. Kennedy will challenge Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship. Kennedy has complained to Long non-stop since his loss at the Royal Rumble, and he looks to defeat The Animal for the title.

Undertaker kicking off the show

WWE.com has learned that the Deadman will kick off the show in singles action this Friday on SmackDown. Who will Undertaker facing, and will that man be the next victim on the Phenom's road to WrestleMania?

Tag Team Blockbuster

The No Way Out pay-per-view is two weeks away, and Mr. McMahon has announced that at the event, World Tag Team Champions Shawn Michaels and John Cena [also the WWE Champion], will face the team of Undertaker and World Heavyweight Champion Batista.

I don't think I'm looking forward to the return of Rey-Rey. Mainly because of his awful promos, and the fact that Eddie's name will be dragged into whatever angle he gets involved in. http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/dry.gif

I have a feeling the tag title will change hands come NWO. perhaps an MNM/Hardys feud although that would defy brand logic.

Listening to davari's music makes me remember how much of a good heel Hassan was. davari is a rare case of someone who needs generic music instead of Hassan's theme.

A diva talent show. Based on Jillian's shower singing, that will not be a 5-star segment.

Overall, decent smackdown as per always.

I was really pulling for Kennedy to win. I'm really not looking forward to Batista vs. Taker at all.

Poor Miz just isn’t having any luck with the reality star finding himself in the ring with Undertaker again. It’s like JBL is booking his matches.

Well I guess Rey Mysterio is on his way back or is at least going to show up and tell us how he is doing. I just hope they can find a decent spot for him that isn’t at the top of the card. I consider his World Title reign a near disaster and I don’t want to see that again.

I respect JBL as a commentator immensely, but if you ask me the reason Deuce & Domino didn’t get a title shot after last week’s win is because other than that win they haven’t done anything!! The tag division on both WWE brands is about the worst offender for immediately elevating talent just because it is new and interesting. Hardly any singles star get the equivalent push a new tag team gets.

I love how Booker T and Sharmell get when they are rattled by Teddy Long or someone else. Their stuffy fake accents work so much better because they drop them the second things aren’t going their way. :D

Joey Mercury and Matt Hardy brought it old school style with a strong match that featured the classic ‘work on a body part’ strategy. Mercury really impressed me as a singles wrestler tonight if he hadn’t before. Right now he’s still running with his MNM personna (which I think belongs to Johnny Nitro now), but he seems more than capable of standing on his own.

I liked Kennedy’s promo for the most part. I did have an answer for his question as to why he wasn’t currently booked for WrestleMania though; because you didn’t win the title or the Royal Rumble!

The only thing that could have made Finlay-Boogeyman any better is if the Irishman has cracked Boogey in the skull with the shillelagh. Something about watching that big goof lose was very satisfying.

After they sent Khali off to RAW, it’s great to see Khosrow Daivari make his return to SmackDown! I really like him as a high-profile manager, but I’m excited to see what he can do as a full-time wrestler without some big back-up. Gregory Helms should probably watch out.

Something about the way Kristal and Theodore Long interact bothers me. It seems like she is flirting with him and he doesn’t seem to mind. With Long officially her boss, it just feels wrong and Teddy knows better than that.

The main event was pretty good as it usually is when it comes to SmackDown! (and about the only consistent one). Mr. Kennedy pulled out all the stops and nearly walked away with the belt. I didn’t think Kennedy would do it, but I was still surprised to see Batista kick out after that belt shot. I suspect we haven’t seen the last of Ken Kennedy in the title scene this year.

I really liked the staredown between Taker and Batista at the end of the show. The distance between them and the spotlight on Undertaker coupled with smoke billowing around him was epic-feeling.

Listening to davari's music makes me remember how much of a good heel Hassan was. davari is a rare case of someone who needs generic music instead of Hassan's theme.I couldn't disagree more, while it was mostly Hassan's, the theme was Daivari's too and it elicits an immediate reaction from the crowd. Shawn Daivari is actually Iranian (unlike Hassan who is Italian) so it also still fits him. Too many stars have generic rock music you have to get used to first. I like that with Daivari you know in an instant who is coming to the ring without it having to start with some clunky, unneeded voice over or a Superstar yelling a catch phrase. "Gregory Helms!" comes to mind as a strong offender (sorry, Shane).

What are they trying to do with Miz? One night they're having him win to Matt Hardy, the next they're feeding him to the Undertaker.

They pushed Deuce and Domino way to early for a tag title match.

This Hardyz/MNM feud doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

What is JBL doing pulling for Davari? That's just out of character.

All the wrestling kept this the show of the week.

Is it just me, or did Jillian's singing voice sound exactly like Brooke Hogan? And that's not a good thing .

The Untouchables win again and no title shot? They'll probally get a shot at Wrestlemania. Kennedy vs. Batista was ok but we knew Batista was going to win. So far the set up for No Way Out has been pretty bad.

Could there possibly be any better way to start the show than seeing The Miz get massacred? By The Undertaker no less. Me and JBL are in total agreement about this guy. If the wrestling gods do indeed love me, this will be the last we see of him! And The Boogeyman also lost to Finlay. These two things alone make Smackdown the show of the week! :D

Lenny and Squiggy win again! Where are they going with this? They sure are building them up into a credible threat rather quickly. Still, they are growing on me. You gotta love how they're billed as being from "the other side of the tracks." :anime:

Am I the only one who sees a face turn for Gregory Helms? He's not done with Davari yet. Do I even go so far as to suggest the return of The Hurricane?

Once again, Smackdown takes show-of-the week.....

Do I even go so far as to suggest the return of The Hurricane? Please no, I loved The Hurricane, but Gregory Helms has finally moved out of that green shadow and is doing really well for himself. It would be such a step backward for him to put on the mask and cape again.

I guarantee the second he puts that mask on he'll lose the Cruiserweight belt.

I guarantee the second he puts that mask on he'll lose the Cruiserweight belt.I don't know about that. I think Vince always liked the Hurricane character, unfortunately. He'd get a push for a few weeks until they realized the character had little heat, and then find himself as the designated squash boy.

While I respect Helm's ability, I've found him to be horribly boring since his heel turn... his mic abilities just don't translate well. He's the kind of guy who should have a Bobby Heenan or Jimmy Hart doing most of his talking for him. Or if they insist on him being solo, he would make a better face... not much better, but I think he would be able to pull off interviews better that way.

Unfortunately, WWE believes in eye candy, not managers. And the only eye candy-manager that's ever elevated anyone is Melina (actually, I could see Melina-Helms working)... but I think Helms could be in the US title scene if he had a good manager.

Miz getting squashed tells me his run on Smackdown is over. They took Vito's profile down (replaced by Daivari), and the next place Vito's likely to go is ECW, IMPO. He had a good run there before going to WCW, following the well-worn trail blazed by Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, et al. Miz? Raw's his likely next destination, but as we saw in the Diva Search last year, he's not ready to do live mic work. Needs to go back to OVW for more seasoning.

It's going to require a sudden angle to get Deuce & Domino into the 4-team tag title ladder match at No Way Out. They have already beaten London & Kendrick twice, cleanly, I might add, and have momentum. Regal & Taylor? They're playing up that the Brits are scared of heights. There's your angle right there. Regal & Taylor bow out in favor of Lenny & Squiggy (although Cliff Compton, nee Domino, looks like he's been to Don Johnson's hair stylist).

Boogeyman loses his first TV match, and no one makes as much of a fuss about it as when CM Punk's TV win streak ended last month on ECW. Boogey will get the win back from Finlay at No Way Out, and maybe we'll find a Mini-Me for Boogey so Little Bastard can finally wrestle.

Jillian's still trying to imitate Britney Spears. Unfortunately, it's from the "Baby One More Time" period, not the human trainwreck Brit's become since. The talent show will be Jill's golden ticket to Raw, IMPO.

Mercury-Hardy was match of the night, and Joey won clean, which was good, salvaging what otherwise was a bad week for Team Poser.

Kennedy's fate was sealed on Raw when Undertaker gave Batista the signal for the tombstone.

Daivari finally gets to showcase what he can do, now that Khali's over on Raw. He outcheated Helms to win, and the title match's likely for the PPV, unless they do it next Friday. If they don't take the lazy route for the finish, this could've stolen the show.

I found this episode of SmackDown to be highly predictable, which causes me to put ECW above it this week. All it was was set-up for the rest of the PPV next week. We now have the following:

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/3883682/4108118
Does anyone else find it strange that they don't have Cena and Michaels carrying aruond their tag team titles?

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/3883682/4108102
I fully expect Deuce and Domino to interfere with this match-up. While MNM vs. The Hardy's escalates to Wrestlemania, they'll have D & D cost Regal & Taylor the championship.

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/3883682/4119574
This has the potential to be the best match-up this PPV.

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/3883682/4119620
It'll be hard to pick the Diva Talent Invitational winner. xactly why is the WWE shoving this down out throats? The time would be better spent having MVP & Kennedy face each other.

Little Bastard gets no love folks. They won't even put his picture in the shot.

The difference between Boogeyman's loss and CM Punk's loss is that Boogeyman isn't the IWC's baby.

But simply the fact that Finlay was the one that gave him his first loss automatically makes this the show of the week.

And I'm actually looking forward to seeing Rey Mysterio return in two weeks. Mostly because he's the hometown hero, but there's also a chance we'll see what his next fued is. I would love to see him as world champ again, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards right now and hopefully he'd be better booked than jobbing to Mark Henry.

Also, there's been a lack of Chavo and MVP lately. What happened to them?

The most interesting thing would be a face vs face match with him vs Benoit for the US title. Maybe throw Chavo in to to a final blow off to the whole Chavo fued.

I've also supporting the idea for an interpromotional Money-in-the-Bank match for the second year in a row; that would be good for Misterio.

Oh, wait... Misterio vs Kennedy. That's GOTTA be it.

I think you mean Mysterio, not Misterio. I suppose it could be Kennedy or MVP, but frankly I could see all four you mentioned being in a money-in-the-bank match-up. Mysterio may not even be ready to come back yet. The show he'll be at is the one in his hometown after all, and they typically do bring back superstars for "Injury updates" in their hometowns.

Good show, as usual. Though Kennedy-Batista was so one-sided until the closing minutes, when Batista hit his Moves of Doom for the victory. The finish was lamer than a Cena match.

Also, I wish they'd bring Velocity back, 'cause I seriously want to see Regal, Taylor, Yang, and Noble doing things again. (though Noble isn't listed on WWE.com anymore. Has he been canned and we just haven't heard about it yet?)

Am I the only one who sees a face turn for Gregory Helms? He's not done with Davari yet. Do I even go so far as to suggest the return of The Hurricane?

I would be pleasantly surprised if WWE became socially responsible and had Daivari be the face in this relationship. All Daivari has to do is bust out his rug for the Magic Carpet Ride and he'll get instant face pops, I say.
