The series hadn't been picked up last anyone heard, and at this points, chances are probably slim.

The show really had some promise, as a series could've gone a lot of routes.

That show was awesome! It was great at balancing lots of blood and gore with humor.

I personally think Korgoth could have been a great series Personally. After all you had a mix of Blood, Gore and the naughty bits, mixed in with cheap shots of Dungeons and Dragons with Conan The Barbarian, and Heavy Metal's Den..
I too saw a lot of potential Here and I think The folks at AS should reconsider..
but knowing Williams Street, their attitude is, if it is costly animation, we don't want it...
Just a thought..

For the record, it was actually called Korgoth of Barbaria.

I dont get it either, if you want ratings you have to spend. Cheaply made shows (Tom goes to the Mayor) (12 oz mouse) fanbase, never could bring in crowds like the quality shows (metalocalypse) (family guy) (futurama) fanbase. Grant it some series already had a fanbase before they were on AS. They didnt keep Korgoth running long enough to even be given a decent chance. I think they should at least put the series back on again for short time to see if it has a decent fan base and see if its worthwhile to keep the series running. But you probably right AS must be too economical minded to want to spend money when a series is a gamble.

You have to spend on ADVERTISING. South Park is huge and it's cheap, but Father of the Pride cost over $2 million an episode and it was a bomb for NBC. Game Over was another expensive primetime show that bombed badly.

The way I see it though, CN never spent a lot of money on a product that bombed unless it was due to asinine scheduling (IE Yuyu and Kenshin).
Saving up for quality shows is one thing but never forking out money to increase ratings is another.

What's so difficult about the title of this show? I only very rarely see anyone spell it right. It's not that hard to remember, is it? Korgoth Of Barbaria.

Concidering it had a budget more than $10 and a coherent story, there was no way in hell it was ever going to get the thumbs up.

It suffered the same fate as "Kitty Bobo" and "The Eltingville Club".

People keep confusing it with Conan the Barbarian.

And acquisitions don't cost much so they get a free pass.
Cartoon Network has never really had anything too expensive that was a bomb, but IGPX did cost a decent amount and it wasn't as successful as they had hoped since they moved it to Friday nights. I don't know how much Fantastic Four cost them, but that show certainly didn't last.

Metalocalypse? It may have gotten great ratings for the first few episodes, but they trickled down after that. You certainly can't compare it to Family Guy and Futurama.

metalocalypse has only had one season, FG and Fut and plenty of seasons

Personally-(Warning this is just me speculating i have no proof of any of this to back it up)
I think AS viewed it as either a Boondocks or Venture Brothers 2. I think they viewed it as well-made, everyone involved having great credentials, but ultimately expensive. When VB and Boondocks both have performed good but not great, I don't think they wanted to commit that kind of money to a show that would at best produce an average audience.
Even if true I'm not supporting this decision at all. I just think they didn't want to pay for a show like that unless they knew it would produce good to great ratings consistently. (And Kogarth was at best a gamble, it could catch on it could have been a total bomb).

Speaking of expenses, another developing pilot has been turned down.

on the topic of AH being too cheap, AH should buy old series that people grew up with (80's, 90's action cartoons). Ive said this while back, but when you think about it, it cant be that expensive to bring back the Centurions, or pirates of dark water and since people who aged 18+years remember these from this network, it would be nice IMO to see a retro action series on the air if not for just a brief period and see how well it does.

I'd love to see the cost quotes against Awesome Show and Saul. Cost is a factor yes, but how much is it a factor?
I was wondering about that show as well they could have dump tim and eric and saul maybe they would have a budget to keep it well not really considering both shows like cheap as hell.

I don't know about Saul (it certainly looked like alot of $$$ went into the premiere). I just know T&E were doing almost the exact same sctick on their website even before Tom got picked up. (It's alot of very amateur video editing tricks.)

"The Eltingville Club".
That show has trimendious potential...
That is today, one of my favorite pilots ever!:D
I thought it was going to be made into a series, but it looks like it will never get there at all. I mean AS showed it twice since it was made.
Korgoth would be an awsome series to make, and it would be one of my faves on AS.

Wasn't there some pilot once with Jack Black? I read about it in the archives on this site. It was from when AS had just premiered in early 2002. What was it called?

Well, they do have voltron on the graveyard shift, and before that they had karate kommandoes and Mr. T.
