Just saw a trailer for this. Basically, UK network ITV2 have a show where Kelly Osbourne goes to Japan and has a limited amount of time to try and master part of this culture. The trailer for the next episode (which was running amongst regular ads, before you ask) showed that one of her tasks this week will be cosplay. Specifically, she dresses up as Lacus Clyne. From the looks of it, she encounters some pervy Lacus fanboys and calls it a 'weird Japanese fantasy'. It airs this Thursday at 9pm.

Thanks to Beta-Waffle (http://www.beta-waffle.com/blog/) for the pic.
Oh gawd... This is just bad. REALLY BAD. Pervy Lacus fanboys should be ashamed of themselves. If you like the character, don't hit on the ugly cosplayers!

Hellcat, you scared the bejeesus out of me. I thought the title of your thread was a casting announcement. I had to read your post twice before my fingers would unclench from the breech lock of my rifle.

Ohh, that show.

That show is weird, and the people they run into in Japan are even more bizzare.

Well, she doesn't look half bad for someone who's probably never cosplayed before :).

As for the show, I'm sure it's scripted like most "reality" TV is (they even have a writing catagory for Reality TV writing at the Emmys). This type of show doesn't don't just run into people - they make sure those people are in town, have a script, and are paid for being on the show.

Personally, I think good question here is did Kelly Osborne even know who Lacus Clyne was before they told her she was dressing up as her? .

Put me into the category of people who were scared stiff when I first read the title.

Now that I know what's going on...it's kinda hilarious. It'd be more hilarious if I actually cared about Kelly Osbourne one way or the other.

Hopefully someone else will capture it and bung it on YouTube. If I'm not busy with more important stuff I'll probably watch.

And the inuyasha UK boxset just got punted back to april (which will probably be punted back to god knows when)...

What the frink did we do to piss off the japanese gods off so badly to have two of the biggest witches of thier mediums come together in some smushy paste of evil and to delay someone that is cool but the fandom sucks?

I managed to see the trailer on youtube. Ms Osbourne looks really pissed off at something :(. The trailer is cut to make it seem like it is because she's dressed up as Lacus but I think something else may have triggered what we're seeing (she was on a elevator and I'm thinking something happened there that didn't have squat to do with cosplay but the show is trying to make it look like that).

Supposedly, the fanboys make some pervy demands.

Supposedly, the fanboys make some pervy demands.Well the first thought I had about your comment was "you sure this wasn't a U.S. convention, then? ;). Actually the guy in the elevator looked a like a buisnessman to me but that may have been the way the scene was filmed.

So has this episode shown in its entirety yet?

It was the first segment. Basically she went to a bookstore and picked a character. She was shown looking over several SEED girl figurines (she very nearly went with Lunamaria). She went with a Captain Lacus costume. Worth pointing out she had the hair clip on the wrong side. They never named Lacus (they did say Gundam SEED). They also seemed to have no idea what the show was about- the camera man asked her if she felt like a superhero o_O Various Destiny cosplayers were shown, including the Minerva crew, more Lacus and a few Meers. She generally enjoyed it but threw a hissy fit when she was asked to pose. Her final statment was that she felt cosplay was great for fan expression but was too linked to fetish stuff (she said she felt like she'd just done a cartoon porn film).

Glad Lunamaria was passed up. Her good name shouldn't be dragged down.

This whole thing sounds like a terrible existence anyways.

I...can't tell, is this a positive or a blow to our "Gundam on tv" agenda?

Well, your average Big Brother watching dolt is probably going to think we all force girls to dress up as animated heroines for our sexual desires...

Ladies, who's squeezing into this Miriallia Haw dress I imported?

Honestly.

The Miri is good, the Miri is great! We surrendur sharp objects as of this date! Look, between you and me, there's only one Knife wielding maniac I support.

And unless Miri can stop time and fling Steam Rollers, she's not all that.

Visiting home, got a bit of a shock. My mum saw the programme and it made her think this is what all Gundam fans get up to...Luckily I was able to set her straight.
