Niiiice. Even though I haven't really seen much of the series apart from the first episode.
Anybody suggest I go farther in that regard?

Holy crap, that is SOOOOO much better looking than the artbox for volume 1. Kudos on fixing your mistake, Bandai. :)
Also, I'm not particularly interested in the live action Cutey Honey movie, but if someone brings Re: Cutie Honey to America, I'll be all over that like... [insert witty hyperbole here]
Ditto on Re: Cutie Honey. That's the most brilliantly hillarious OVA I've seen in a long time.

Now THAT is 200 times better than that flimsy excuse of a collector's box they released with Volume 1.

How flimsy was the first cover box anyway?
Shouldn't Bandai have some kind of rule that fansites can't post release dates until Bandai themselves post the damn things?

Well, it wasn't abnormally flimsy. It certainly wasn't sturdy, but it was similar to normal flimsy boxes.
It was similar to the boxes for Mezzo, Aquarian Age: Sign for Evolution, and Argentosoma.

How flimsy was the first cover box anyway? Pretty flimsy. You could bend it just by picking it up. Imagine an artbox made of thin construction paper, and you get an idea (albeit a bit of an exaggeration). And the artwork was the same on both sides. It was definitely the only art box I bought that I would consider "bad".
Shouldn't Bandai have some kind of rule that fansites can't post release dates until Bandai themselves post the damn things? Why is this a problem?

Press release, so its officially official.
Also a little thing I missed: First Volume of Otome in June

I was wondering if they were going to pick up Mai-Otome given I hadn't heard any news sales-wise of Mai-Hime since the first volume. Also, now I've got a dilemma regarding whether to buy the new better box with Volume 7 or not. On that note... about time they solicited the last volume, too.
(And this coming from someone who hasn't watched V4 and V5 yet and still has to pick up V6.)

I wonder how this will work out, considering the majority of the voices from My-HiME's English dub do NOT fit the Otome counterparts of their respective characters at all, perhaps even moreso than how some of them don't even fit the characters in HiME. It's expecially such a case with Mashiro. Midori's voice in the HiME English dub, however, may fit her Otome counterpart even though it didn't fit her in HiME, it justs needs to be slightly deeper.
Why is this a problem?
Partially because I believe the official company's website should be more up-to-date than any fansite, and partially because of my seething annoyance of anything related to AnimeOnDVD.

Now lunchtime can be fun with a touch of honey. :)
Nice that the live action movie is finally solicited but I'm still hoping that the other Cutie Honey anime (70s series, Flash, and Shin) will get licensed.

Now I want to buy Cutie Honey LA even more. That Lunch Box is a great packaging gimmick.

Good work, Bandai! Good work! Is this on pre-order anywhere?

How do you think AoD found out? :p

One word- Toei.

No. If Toei was the problem, I doubt we would have the movie or the Devilman movie.

Nice artbox. Too bad the series' discs are so glitched up to the point of being unwatchable. I mean, has anyone been able to watch the Jp version WITHOUT the subs turning off on them every episode?
I do not care for Otome, it was no where near being even remotely as enjoyable as HiME.
I might rent Cutie Honey, but that is it as it is just one step away from porn.

Actually, the LA movie is the most kid friendly adaption to date. While the other series were all aimed towards children, the LA movie is insanely family-friendly. No boobs, lesbians or violence here.
That's even more of a reason for them to get RE: ;)

Aren't metal lunch boxes banned from most places these days anyway?

Toei shouldn't have any say in Re: Cutey Honey as IIRC it was Gainax/Warner Bros if not just Gainax.

The live-action version, yes.
But the animated version was co-produced by Gainax and Toei, with Toei Video getting distribution rights, according to ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=3455).

Then yeah, we're boned, as Bender might say. Unless Toei's finally realized they are leaving money on the table here in the US by being so, well, stupid.

What are you saying Toei is doing?

What are you saying Toei is doing?
By continuously screwing around in the US market (poorly trying to be their own localizer in the US, working with horrible companies like 4kids, pulling shows from licensors before they're complete, demanding that shows be brought over in a certain fashion, etc,) they've basically failed at making as much money as they should be in the US, IE: they've left money out on the table here. Any US otaku with 2 brain cells to rub together could tell Toei how they should run their business dealings in the US for maximum profit, but instead of talking to US fans, they've screwed up time after time, since they first started in with Sailor Moon in the US. The only Toei series that's been brought over to the US that's lived up to it's profit potential was DBZ, and that's only because Funimation was able to handle that how they saw fit. Everything else has ended up being unprofitable (or atleast not nearly as successful as should have been) because Toei doesn't get how the anime business in America works.

Toei seem to take the "Mine's bigger" approach to their US business deals. As long as the current board is on power in Japan we are pretty much boned.
The Cutie Honey LA movie is suprisingly good, and hilarious. Family friendly might be puching it a bit far, unless you parents don't have a problem with watching a fairly...rounded Japanese lady in her underwear for long periods of time.
Hopefully those losses they took this quarter are a wake up call in regards to western products.

Just had a theory: If the LA Cutey Honey movie sells well, do you guys think Toei will be more open to bringing Re: to the U.S.? I mean, it's all part of a franchise, right?
If that's possible, I'd definitely consider buying LA Cutey Honey.

I can't wait for the Cutie Honey toku, and maybe Re: Cutie Honey sometime. But I'd be more interested in getting the 70's show and Flash. Because we already have New Cutie Honey (altho, misspelled) here in the US.

Even so, it's alot tamer than the other series. No head cutting, nudity, or incest in the LA. :P

Um... isn't the box for My-HiME a bit too long? I assume it's going to be like the Kodocha boxes, in that you put the DVDs in horizontally as opposed to vertically.

AnimeOnDVD.com mentions that the live action movie will be bilingual. I guess this is good news for dub fans but live action dubs are just incredibly silly. However, that's a moot point considering that the live action Cutey Honey movie is silly to begin with.

They're definitely much more difficult to do than dubbing animation; thus, they're more prone to faults, but I've seen some really impressive live action dubs before.

I wish Devilman was in the US in the first place... i hear Amon is just pure awsomeness! Still gotta finish my chinese subbed Devilman series...
And from what i reserched, Cutey Honey series is not too bad, other than New Cutey Honey (Because of naugty bits and boobies) which you can find in the dirty hentai section of your local anime dvd rack...
Re's got a lot of lewd jokes and nude transformations making it unsafe for network TV.

Just out of curiousity--any chance at all that "Mai" will end up on TV?

Personally, "Flash" is the series I've been waiting for years to see (c.f. Sistah Umino's avatar).
