Doh! Read it and weep:

While I have to admit that some of his more recent works have not been my cup of tea, I'm a big fan of the Dark Tower series. I'm going to be really ticked if he never finishes it up! Hopefully this will be a Michael Jordan retirement, and not a true one.

You hear that, Elizabeth? I'm coming to join you, honey!
It's ironic, because in the opening notes to Skeleton Crew King says that though he no longer needs the money the stories bring in--he's no doubt wealthy enough to retire ten times over--to not write is like slow suicide...so he does. Of course, his mishap with the truck coupled with macular degeneration may lead him to rethink that position.
Of course, if he does retire, he'll need a successor. I will be proud to fill the role.
I love the way King does cameos in his works-turned-movies--The Stand, The Langoliers, Sleepwalkers, Rose Red. Sort of a nod to his spiritual father, Hitchcock....

King retiring is nothing like Michael Jordan retiring, its more like Muhammad Ali. King is the greatest, and no one will ever be like him again. It's too bad cause I'll have nothing good to read anymore.
Also, King has said once before that if he retired, it would be with the final Dark Tower novel. I think he has something big planned for his entire universe to end with DT 7.

I just meant that Jordon's "retirements" never really were retirements - he kept coming back. I'm hoping that's what will happen with King as well. He's gonna have any angry mob at his door if he doesn't finish up the Dark Tower series.

You hafta admit, his recents *weren't* so good....that online book "The Plant"....even though he quit in the middle, from what my father read, it was extremely boring.
Speaking of my father, I'd better go comfort him...knowing him and Stephan King, he won't be eating for days... ;)

Hopefully he'll finish the "Dark Tower" series before he goes. I really want to see how he finishes it out.

Doesn't matter. If he does finish the towers, we'll all scream. Screams of terror or joy is yet to be determined.
