From what I read, even worse.

The reviews are mostly poor, but a few people over at Box Office Mojo are saying it's not bad as long as you don't take it seriously.

I haven't watched any of those movies since Scary Movie 2, but a friend of mine said Epic Movie is pretty bad and he actually liked Date Movie and Scary Movie 4.
Anybody know anything about Hannibal Rising? I've been wanting the story of Lecter's rise to infamy since I read Silence of the Lambs, but honestly the movie doesn't look that good.

If you went to see Epic Movie this weekend, you should be ashamed of yourself.
The reviews for it were considerably worse than the past Scary Movies, and apparently, even worse than the dreaded Date Movie. It's got a ZERO percent at Rotten Tomatoes right now. That means not one good review. At least Date Movie managed to get a ranking on the Tomatometer (7%).
I know stuff like The Queen isn't meant for everyone, but Smokin' Aces (which also got poor reviews, but I'd actually like to give it a chance) sounds considerably better than anything Epic Movie has to offer.
As for me, I saw Pursuit of Happyness a couple of days ago and cried my eyes out. At first I thought I was just being a dumb girl, but then I saw that most of the men in the theater were carefully trying to conceal their sniffling noses and watering eyes, and I felt better. Even my boyfriend, a super-stoic Korean man (if you know Korean men then you know what I mean), actually let some tears out during the scene in the bathroom.

Smokin' Aces is pretty decent, really. Not amazing, but better than the critics let on.

I really liked The Queen. At first I thought it would just be a portrait of the queen, but it has more of a story than that. And its more modern day than it sounds. Very well acted and very engaging.

I wish they'd stop doing these spoof movies. They're not funny, and haven't been since 'Hot Shots Part Deux'.
These spoof movies think it's funny enough to just copy and paste scenes directly from the movies they're making fun of without really adding anything new outside of dirty humor.
I miss the days of 'The Naked Gun', 'Airplane', 'Top Secret', and 'Hot Shots' because at least those movies could spoof films and t.v. shows without actually copying and pasting entire portions of movies. Those films went for the ENTIRE genre (disaster films, police dramas, spy movies, etc) without directly copying other films (Except for Hot Shot's take on Top Gun).
Having said that, I'm staying as far away from Epic Movie, the upcoming Superhero! and whatever so called 'spoof' movies that are coming. Bring on Ghost Rider and Reno 911.

Yeah I'd have to agree. There hasn't really been a strong parody/spoof movie for a while now. In fact, I never really liked the Scary Movie series either. They had a few funny bits but overall didn't make me laugh very much at all. I know they're spoof movies and the point of them is to parody things, but some of them don't even do that; they basically just regurgitate famous scenes, and if they DO parody them, it's usually an obvious joke.
Though I'd include Spy Hard and the first half of Wrongfully Accused in the "good spoofs". They were pretty much the last spoof movies I truly enjoyed. Agent WD40=win.

Smokin' Aces was trounced by Epic Movie.
Mike Judge, you son of a gun. (Rent Idiocracy if you're confused by this statement.)
Stylistically, Smokin' Aces resembles Crank and Running Scared. I can't imagine less people liking this than some cut-and-paste spoof thing. Even Catch and Release (which was decent, if not my kind of film) deserved better.

Yeah, there was a trailer for it attached to Borat.
I don't even watch the show, but I was laughing through the whole preview.

Why does your sortasmiley look so reluctant? It was one of the funniest trailers I've certainly seen (and screened before the funniest film I've seen) so I will be checking that out ASAP.

I don't find Reno 911 funny. However, I would love to see a Mind of Mencia movie. Speaking of which, when is Season 3 going to air? I know that is a little off topic though, oh well.
300 looks to be another amazing movie as well, and I might see Grindhouse, but I haven't decided yet.
