So I'm wondering if those guys were two members of the Bluetooth Group.
And Tom .... there's really nothing more to be said about him ... except maybe hopefully he'll get what's coming to him (probably wont die, but for someone of his "status" getting put down really hard is good enough)
And now you see how the Feds work when something is sloppily put together. And here I was thinking Sandra would get him killed, but I guess I should have known better than that.
and I wonder if Karen has any plans to help out the situation by deciding to go to CTU and Bill, other than maybe the obvious that it's the next best place for her (prior work there, and Bill's "connection")

"Trust you? After what you did to me at the house all I trust in is your sadistic tendencies."
JAMES FREAKING CROMWELL!
Nadia's storyline is interesting. Glad to see her character finally getting something so that we can learn more about her character. It's kind of a stupid plotline, but it flows with the day's activities and will probably play out nicely.
Unfortunately one plot DIDN'T play out nicely. What's with the response times on those detainment facility guards? How did the FBI agent and Ms. Palmer arrive BEFORE ANY OF THE GUARDS ORDERED TO EXTRACT HIM? Backing up a bit, it's pretty neat how the writers decided not to let this thread pan out and make these guys simple posers. Add this to the smuggled cell phone, and it makes the detention centers a complete mockery.
Graem (oooh, fancy spelling!) is totally going to own. His complacency throughout the episode should have raised a red flag but I didn't think about it. What a dubious little weasel he is. Jack's father (ZEPHRAM FREAKING COCHRANE) looks to be a legitimate businessman just trying to cover his and his son's butts. So Jack's father (MARCEL FREAKING CASSETTE) probably not the next Henderson, but Graem's emergence as the conspiratorial element is just as interesting. (Is he working with the terrorists or did he really just make a mistake? Tune in next week!) Overall, Jack's father (FORMER PRESIDENT D. WIRE FREAKING NEWMAN) should be an interesting character to watch as he and Jack are held hostage.
Karen's resignation was a surprise. I expected her to fight this, but I guess it's better to take the hit and continue serving in some sort of capacity instead of risk being completely outcast. So she's on a plane to LA and Hassad is on a plane to DC. Interesting shifting they're doing this season.
That's about it. The pace picked up in this ep and it's only going to keep building until the next nuke goes off...and I'm pretty sure it might.

I was expecting her to fight it too, and was rather disappointed that she didn't. Yes Tom could bring up the whole fiasco after the matter, but isn't maintaining liberties for the whole population more important? At any rate, it seems implausible that they would stop everything and publicly make her tender her resignation amidst the current affairs, despite the population's easily distracted attention. Either way, it'd still be a few hours before that could be set in motion.
Oh! And the least she could have done before she left was mention to the President that he should take notice of the "security" measures that Tom is "preparing" ....
On another note, how come there are so few people with the President's ear? Maybe I'm too hazy about US politics but it seems rather strange that it's really just those two who the President keeps talking to.
I was rather disappointed with how the Walid plot panned out. I'm very glad it ended, I was getting rather bored with it. Mid-ep I wanted them to either hurry up and beat Walid up or move on. Though, it kind of seemed rushed, as if they knew it was getting boring and they had to end it fast. I'm not really sure how I would have liked this particular plot line to play in the whole picture, but at least it was better than some of the other small plot lines we've seen ::coughkimcough:: Oh and I do agree that the response time on part of the security guards was rather slow. What happened to all of those guards we saw in the earlier eps? Lunch break?

That was a very, very red post there.
Who's "Nadia" again?
Karen, you coward....I can't believe you ran! Now that guy can do anything. Wishful thinking, but maybe Nancy Pelosi will jump through a window into the offices and take her position.
Graem was such a wimp for the first 45 minutes that I wondered how he could be the same man that was behind everything for the last couple seasons. Nah, he was playing possum.....
I agree, those guards were slow......maybe TOO slow, hmm....
Kind of a "meh" episode -- not as many laugh out loud funny moments as usual, probably because Chloe barely had any screen time (after the revelation about Jack's sinister brother, am I the only one who suspects that Chloe is actually behind everything that's ever happened on 24?). The only really fun bit was with the hooker who was more worried about ending up in Palm Springs than being in a hotel room within sight of the mushroom cloud, not to mention hanging out with a moron who's about as covert as a parade float blatantly wheeling and dealing with terrorists and weapons dealers while driving around miraculously empty post-nuke LA roadways.
Either Cromwell is reeeally tall, or Kiefer is tinier than I thought he was, like sub-Tom Cruise, almost Mini-Me sized.
A little of both, Sutherland is like 5'8 meanwhile, Cromwell looks like a giant in comparison over 6.5 feet tall.
I definetly noticed that as well.
The last 2 episodes have been setting up storylines for the rest of the season, but I was still very interested. Although I didnt like Karen Hayes giving in to Weasel Tom, or the ending of the Walid/Detention Center story. On the one hand, I'm happy it's over but I'm also disappointed it took the guards so long to respond. Especially since they noted the guards had his back in case anything happened.

This episode was better than last weeks for me, because it actually showed some relationship between Jack and Graem. You can see the fear ni Graem's eyes when he's one-on-one with Jack, but you can also see his manipulative ways when he is with others. While I do feel sorry for Graem's family, let's hope he gets what he deserves in the near future.
As far as Jack and his father go, it'll be interesting to see the chemistry those two generate over the next on to few episodes. At least dad seems like an honest man.

Well Graem (what a name!) has finally shown his last season colors and taken the role of this season's first sub-villain (with I assume many more to follow). I sense a sort of weird Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade style vibe between Jack and Dad, we'll see how that unfolds as the season continues. Good stuff ****.

It was definately slower than the rest of the season so far, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Last week, I felt bad for Jack's brother being tortured, but then I remembered what a ******bag he is. As mentioned by PeterFries, I didn't know Keifer was short until now.

Don't ever say that 24 doesn't have fillers. This was one of them. All the excitment was in the preview.Well last week my point was that there's no "filler episodes." There are certainly filler plotlines, and it turns out this detainment facility was the first of this season which fits the bill. :: Glances over to season five, which had no significant filler whatsoever. :: I still stand by my like of the storyline. Not every lead can pan out, and during the phone stealing I was pretty interested in the story (since this is really the best "action" we got this week). Wayne's sister was still annoying, though, and this attack is just going to make her that much more vocal. The only thing worse than an annoying nagger is an annoying nagger who turns out to be right.
Who's "Nadia" again? [CYBERNETIC GHOST]Wouldn't you like to know? Probably your momma.[/CYBERNETIC GHOST]
Yeah. Sorry. (http://www.fox.com/24/profiles/ny.htm)
Oh! And the least she could have done before she left was mention to the President that he should take notice of the "security" measures that Tom is "preparing" ....That's one thing I really disliked about her resignation scene. She had the great line about telling Wayne he's always been his best council, but then she didn't even warn him about the racial profiling and the other crap that Tom's putting into place. I understand Karen probably preferred to go out with whatever dignity she had left, but POINT THE FINGER AT THE JERK ALREADY. Regardless, though, I hope that Wayne understands the circumstances behind her resignation enough to come after Tom next episode to find out what he's up to.

Thank God you didn't make a typo.
This was indeed a slow episode, even slower than last week's relatively slow episode. I guess Jack's had a lot of driving to do. Things should get really interesting now, though. And I'm still waiting for him to find out about Graem's other misdeeds...
I was also disappointed about the guards in the detention facility. What the heck happened?

24 leeched a few viewers off Heroes this week. It came in first for the timeslot in terms of total viewers (15.3 mil), although Heroes got more viewers from the 18-49 target demographic. I'm not about to start handing out party favors, since the low-key nature of the last two weeks of 24 could possibly lose some viewers, but it's really a nice surprise to see the show doing so well against last fall's ratings juggernaut. (Though considering who showed up on Heroes Monday night I'm surprised the ratings didn't go up.)

So Tom and Karen butt heads again, and this time, Tom wins the war. I agree, too... I was expecting Karen to try and fight back with some 'dirty laundry' of her own. I think she gave up too easily. But even though she resigns, she does leave the President with one piece of advice. To make his own decisions.
Sandra oughta be ticked off after Walid got exposed. I thought the guards were supposed to be watching the 'inmates.' No one heard the noise or saw the disturbance and decide to do something until Sandra and that annoying agent got onto the scene? Man, the security there sucks!
Meanwhile... I guess I should've seen Graem doing what he did coming. Jack's father apparently has nothing to do with this other than associated by circumstances beyond his control. And looky at the end... another pair of no-name CTU agents dead. Whoopdee do.

As I seem to tend to do, I want to check in before tonight's episode, don't let me confuse you now. ;)
Temple has fully covered the excitement, but it's great having James Cromwell as Jack's dad. I'm a big fan of the guy. It is interesting that Jack's family has never really been mentioned before. I guess it's just one of the signs that while you can learn a lot about a character during the course of the day, you still don't know it all. Graem being in control of it all was a surprise, but I guess based on what he was doing last time it shouldn't really be a surprise.
I was really upset to see Tom make Karen resign. He is just a slime and even with his experience I don't quite understand why Wayne Palmer brought him in with the way his brother seemed to feel about him. Now Mike Novik on the other hand... Well okay, I guess David lost trust in him too, but he's less of a slimeball than Lennox, he's just pragmatic.
I thought it was pretty cool the way Milo stuck up for Nadia in a manner of speaking with the extra hoops she was being made to go through. I hope it doesn't come back to bit either of them. With Tom Lennox about to take more control, I think it might though.
Agent Samuels sure had egg on his face when Salim and company didn't know anything at all when it come to the bombs. Really it started with what Walid thought he heard, but it's just frustrating that none of it worked out. I hope he's okay.
