In more recent episodes of ATHF, Meatwad has started to mature. He's not so innocent anymore, he's friends with Shake, he's not quite as dumb, and we haven't seen him play with his dolls for some time.

What do you think of this change in his character? Approve? Disapprove? Discuss.

Well he was mature in season one.
This was after season 2, I approve of it.

In some ways I'm okay with the Meatwad character progession. I mean he's still pretty funny and there was only so much regular innonence you could have with him before he became as underused and pointless to his own show like Brak became in the Brak Show. I do not however like his recent relationship with Shake. IMHO the show is a lot funnier when Shake has at least some obvious dislike for Meatwad and little concern for his well being. I mean there have been moments in earlier episodes where they hung out and did projects together (like "Interfection" and "Kidney Car") but Shake still had his incredible dislike of Meatwad. Or at the very least was so self centered he didn't really care either way for the little sack of meat. That dynamic still could of been played with a lot and I don't like them kind of changing up the dynamic in season 5. IMHO episodes like "Antenna" and "Ezekiel" of Season 5 are better if only for Shake acting like more of a jerk and more of his old persona then earlier eps of the season. Yeah change is good but you don't mess with a good thing espically when you can get more out of it.

It basically comes off as Frylock has to be the bad cop while Shake and Meatwad screw up constantly.

I see Meatwad's character development as similar to the development of Stewie Griffin. I personally like his current slacker buddy relationship with Shake. I mean with the way cynicism is growing in cartoons, it's a nice change.

The guys at ATHF don't know the meaning of character development. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a show about a wad of meat, a giant shake, and floating french fries...how much character development can there be there?

LOL Wow!

Surprisingly, Carl has remained the same fat, lazy, pissed off, drunk, horny, unemployed, pool owning charactor since season 1... so its nices to see his charactor devopment hasnt changed one bit. Well the only change is, i dont think he has that car anymore.

We saw it in a very recent episode where Shake and Meatwad stole it. Though the episode was a dream/hallucination brought on by a BB bullet... .... I still think the car is there.

By the way, I love ATHF for its asinine-ness, don't get me wrong.

You can't tell me Meatwad hasn't changed and developed over the series. Watch "Balloonenstein" and then "Moonajuana". Totally different.

I don't think the episode was a hallucination, I think Bart Oates appeared to Shake after Carl refused to kill Linda Hamilton and put him up to shooting Carl, hence the BB gun thing.

I could be wrong. It wasn't really very clear. It just seems to me that if it was all a hallucination after Shake shot Carl, then Bart Oates wouldn't have been floating there next to Shake when he shot Carl.

Without character development, Shows would be boring, Forever.

Carl has changed a bit. I said before he tolerates the Aqua Teens more in recent episodes. In the first season, he wanted absolutely nothing to do with them.

He's not unemployed. He works from home. At least, that's what he says.

But that episode where Dusty Gongzaliz was outside his house and said:

"My mother sent me 80 Dollors, can i write you out a check".

I wouldnt want my parents to send me money if i live on my own, affording what i need, i mean, unless his mom makes more money than he does and fells bad that he spends it on porn and hookers. But, it is a show after all.

I live at home now, so thats a different story there.

I think it was really the first 5 or so episodes tops that meatwad was any different. (And you can blame that more so on the creators still figuring out the character.)

I mean by season 2? Meatwad was tricking shake into becoming a plastic surgery freak and later a bulemic. Meatwad still cries too when Shake kills his garden hose friend with his mind (so I don't think he's completely matured:))

Well he laughed at Frylock for thinking Jeffy was real later on when Frylock took him to see Jeffy.

His character has fleshed out i'll give you that, and it does work out in his favor.

However, it may be me but I believe Season 4 had what was probably the worst characterization of Meatwad.
