SmackDown! is the last stop before the Rumble this Sunday, and will follow RAW and ECW with their own Over-the-Top Challenge as a warm-up to the official start of the Road to WrestleMania. In addition to the Rumble match, SmackDown! will feature Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy for the World Championship and Matt Hardy and Joey Mercury will compete in a tag match as the Hardys face MNM on Sunday.

The prediction thread will be posted later this evening or tomorrow morning. Enjoy the show!

General Manager Theodore Long has announced next week on SmackDown the 6-Man Over-the-Top Challenge will take place just two days away from the Royal Rumble.

Superstars MVP, Kane, United States Champion Chris Benoit, Finlay, The Miz and former World Heavyweight Champion King Booker will participate in the precursor to the 30-man Royal Rumble, but how will the 6-Man Over-the-Top Challenge affect their chances heading into the Royal Rumble?

Mr. Kennedy ensured that he alone would face Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble when he bated The Animal into interfering in his match with Undertaker - causing the disqualification. What will happen next week as Kennedy prepares for his first opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship?

Not the best Smackdown. But still good enough to garner Show of the Week.

Once again, MNM have defied the laws of the brand extenstion by appearing as a team on tonight's show. Something has to be done about this. At least make a logical explanation or something.

They seem to be hyping Batista/Taker more than Batista/Mr Kennedy. Kennedy. As if the outcome for sunday's world title match isn't set in stone already.

Not much else can be said. Nothing standoutish at all.

That had to be the show of the week. Sure, nothing awesome happened, but atleast it had some freaking wrestling. Something the three other shows of the week seem to lack.

And I liked the fact that MNM showed up on Smackdown!. They're a good tag team and they put on a great match with London & Kendrick. Since they're having an interpromotional feud with the Hardys, that's a good enough explanation for me.

Miz held his own against Benoit. It seems as if they're semipushing him.

MVP vs. Kane for the 50th time was surprisingly good. I never expected a standing dropkick from the Big Red Machine. Was that actual pus and blood?

I wondered why Kane was eliminated before the Miz until Taker showed up. Both he and Shawn have momentem going into the Royal Rumble.

This was an ok smackdown.

Well, they built up the Rumble pretty well. Not much else, besides hinting at Taker/Batista more. Honestly, I don't care who takes the title off Bore-tista, I just want a champion with a little more charisma.

I'm disappointed that Londrick and Regal/Taylor aren't in the Royal Rumble Match nor do they have a match scheduled. I hope they somehow make it into a last minute match or something.

And of Course Deuce and Domino continue to impress.

Unfortunately, most of the charismatic wrestlers are on Raw.

Here are my lone thoughts from watching Smackdown:

-After watching Michaels clean house at the end of Raw, and seeing Taker blow do the same on Smackdown its plainly obvious to me that its going to either one of these two who are going to win the Rumble. The other 28 guys have not a chance.

-I don't know about you, but I wish that someway somehow, that Chris Benoit could somehow beatdown those metrosexual clowns from MNM  (and I wouldn't be too angry if Melina got a flying headbutt). I know its fake, but in storyline it still would make me proud to see the crippler just destroy these pr*cks.

Smackdown was a little down this week. Oh well, at least they still give the most airtime to the actual wrestling.

Batista of course ran over Gregory Helms, but it was great to see the Cruiserweight Champion first cut a promo and then get some decent offense in against the Animal.

Poor Miz just isn't having that great of a time since his first loss. He got fed to Undertaker in the SmackDown! Sprint and this week he had to go against Benoit. I don't think I'd want to "be the Miz" right now.

Maryse es muy caliente. ...Wait, that's not right. I can't think straight. :o

Deuce & Domino continue to impress despite their pulled from the 1980s gimmick. at JBL saying he couldn't tell them apart once they took their jackets off.

I groaned at getting Booker and Finlay again, but the two veterans delivered a strong match and the involvement of the queen and leprechaun added to the contest.

Great tag match with the rematch we never saw between London & Kendrick and MNM (plus their women). I'm a fan of Nitro as a singles wrestler, but the two are an excellent tag team.

If Ken Kennedy is never World Champion, wrestling fans will have been done a great disservice. After another good promo, he does the smart move and gets out of the way, giving the Champion another man to be consider about going into the PPV.

Vladimir Kozlov continues to scare me. If there's one thing WWE loves more than big guys, it's menacing, foreign big guys. Kozlov will be a contender for his brand's Championship early unless he crashes and burns quickly like Nathan Jones.

I don't understand what Kristal is doing with Teddy Long, but it seems this will eventually be another attempt to take down the fan favorite general manager.

I bought the 2001 Royal Rumble on video back in the day, so it was neat seeing the flashback of Kane's dominate performance.

Kane and MVP sure got the short of the stick having their match right before the top rope challenge. Porter fought his hardest and the Big Red Machine seemed to enjoy being able to beat on MVP's back. MVP made the best move he could by grabbing that chair to end it.

The Over-the-Top Challenge didn't feel very special after the RAW and ECW versions. SmackDown! had the most hype behind theirs, but was hurt by the two that came before it. Undertaker just taking everyone out (- Kane) reeked of what Khali did and what HBK did in the pretend version on Monday. It did build the Dead Man's desire to win, the best he's ever done is second.
