I'm glad you mentioned the inter-scene cross-dissolves. Those drive me nuts. Ideally, they're supposed to show the passage of time, but if that passage of time is instantaneous, what's the point? It's almost a miracle when a regular cut is seen during an episode.

As much as I enjoy this show (and I enjoy it greatly), I can't help but get the feeling that this is one of those cases where the dub actually elevates the material. And I don't mean that the English VAs are better than the Japanese (I haven't actually heard the Japanese), but I just get the idea that I wouldn't enjoy the show in general nearly as much without the dub. It's kind of like when Anthony Hopkins shows up in a Jerry Bruckhiemer movie, just his presence alone makes the movie better than average.

The voices are just spectacular, and I'm glad you made specific mention of Coleen Clinkenbeard and Aaron Dismuke, Duke. Everything Coleen does is great, but this performance is truly special, and Aaron is just as great. The scenes between them, especially in recent episodes, have to be some of the best VA-ing I've heard.
