If this is the original, I can tell this sequel is going to be an instant classic. He looks like a robot waspman.

That's more than half of the Go Nagai library of robos being remade.

It's cool we're suddenly getting a burst of giant robot remakes, but the choices sure are puzzling. This has to be one of the most obscure series. I can't say I'm a big fan of the design.

He's building up once again. Everybody sing along: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UQX8B72IMo

Hopefully it's not as moody as the remake of Reideen.

They're basicly remaking every 70's entrent in the Super Robot Wars libary, arn't they?

Yay! Another new Go Nagai series! So is this a sequel, or a remake? Is this being done by Toei, like the original series? Ethier way I'm looking forward to this, hopefully it won't dissappoint like Kikoushi Enma.

Oh and, WHEN IS GRENDIZER GETTING A REMAKE?!

Shin Jeeg's design is everything I want in an upgrade.

You mean when is Mazinkaizer going to obliterate the vegan empire?

Eep. The promoart is kind of a turnoff. It looks along the lines of Getter Robo Go, and the new Daiking series. Not good.

Haha. :P

(I'm still waiting for Mazinkaiser vs. The Great General of Darkness ADV!!)

My question is will today's little Japanese kids watch this stuff, or is it just nostalgia for ex-kids?

Shin Jeeg's design is everything I want in an upgrade. Well, at least it doesn't stray that far from the original design, unlike the new Reideen.

Just as long as he builds up and uses his Mach Drills for justice.

Strangely enough though, the Gaiking in its new series doesn't actually stray too far from its original design, unless of course its mask no longer bursts open revealing its rather charming face.

If these actually turn out well, maybe i could clamor for some new Daitarn 3.

I'd say it didn't change too much from the original concept because it's a Go Nagai creation, and those seem immune from having remakes that are far removed from the original source material.

I just hope they make it good, if only for their sake: the surprisingly large Italian fan-base will have their eye on this, I guarantee. :p

What's wrong with the new Gaiking series?

Judging by fansites, Italy seems to be a big market for anime. Lupin also gets a lot of attention.

This question and more can be answered by reading the article! (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=14542)

Is this being done by Toei, like the original series?

No, that animation is begin produced by Actus, whose only other show ever has been Tales of Phantasia.

Ah, sorry. I didn't see the link at first. Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like it's gonna be a "New Cutey Honey"-ish sequel.

What's wrong with the new Gaiking series?

Honestly, I don't have a clue. But by the pictures and clips -- It looks like a completely different series with "Gaiking" written on it. Kind of like that Bishonen-filled remake of Reideen.

Gentlemen, we have clip. (http://stage6.divx.com/members/236117/videos/1107138) Looks awesome to me.

Ok, that clip, while high quality, is a little vague. Here's the original. Key kids, it's Go Nagai! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=c2AGoLLWdMI)

Nostalgia. It's airing late night in Japan, not the ideal hour for kids.
