I've since being ruined with the series after being subjected to FFVII's jacked up ending (http://pub26.ezboard.com/fcnxtoonamirevolutionfrm9.showMessageRange?topicID=4145.topic&start=41&stop=58) and FFVIII painful pacing.

In any case, look forward to when my roommate gets FFX. Looks damn good!

They didn't say anything out right, but there was stuff you could imply from his tone and choice of words.

Kinda hinting at him not digging on the past installments.

I think it was the basic FF complaints.... game goes more for flash, flair and "big-ness" than depth of gameplay and substance.

I know. Tony Hawk is a great game, but not better than FFX, in my opinion. Aeons > Skateboards

The fact that he may imply that the previous FF's weren't good is not right (I say this for lack of a better phrase? ^^; ). I have yet to meet an FF fan (an Final Fantasy fan who played OLDER Final Fantasies as well as the newer ones) who didn't like FFIX. Everyone says that it was most like the Nintendo Final Fantasies, which is a good thing apparently.

Dang nabbit! Now I'll have to watch Dragonball just to see the review for it! But I can't imagine seeing it without the cool FFX music though. And I swear, if they recycled an old Toonami beat for it, I will scream. :mad:

I wish TDA put the game reviews on their site too. That way I could just go there and see it, instead of having to watch Dragonball or Z or which ever show it is that has that time slot.

Toonami style, they made the game look really cool.

I think Toonami said THPS3 got a perfect ten, because for what it was it did it perfectly. Online play, tweeked up gameplay and a game you completely and utterly play and fills up all you need in that area.

FFX... RPG's lately can feel more like watching than playing. I'm making assumptions based on past experiences and from what little I saw in a demo.

Skies of Arcadia now...... now there's a game you can set your watch to!

I just saw the commercial a few minutes ago. It's got some awsome graphics but when Tom said 8 out of 10, my reaction was like, whaaaaat! At least they could have said why they deducted the two points.

I think the review lost a point because of how short TOM said the game was. Only 70 hours (that's short? It's at least as long as Xenogears was)! I've noticed that RPG gamers like their games really long. I also heard that the game is very linear, going from point A to B with little time or ability to go off on your own to do a minigame aside from specific times.

But the in game animation looks stunning. I may have to get a PS2 before long. Just a question, what other FF game have they reviewed on Toonami?

This is more of a general comment about the Toonami game ratings than about this particular rating but... doesn't it seem like they've given out a few too many 10's? I would think that a 10 would be nearly unattainable. Eventually the ratings will have to go to 11 to show that a new game is just so much better than games that rated a 10 (unless they just make 10 louder / better)

When Toonami reviews a game..it'll get a good rating. I've never seen them give a game a bad rating.

I was expecting TOM to give the game an 8 or 9, just because of his review. You can tell he wasn't that excited about the game. Now, the Tony Hawk review he gave was great. He gave poetic terms to the review like "Soul Skating". That was beatiful. That review got a 10. The more poetic the review, the better rating it gets. But that's only my opinion...

gee, you say that like one would say that the sky is blue..

the fact is, games are based on personal preference. FFX & TH3 are two VASTLY diffrent games.

Here's why TH3 could be considered better.
It's available on multiple platforms, FFX isn't.
TH3 acuratly portrays a real "sport", FFX is completely made up.
TH3 is easy to learn. (ok, I don't know how true that is, cause I've played neither game)

My point is, it's like comparing BB:ROTJ to Titanic....I think it's a better movie, but I'm sure I could find someone to disagree with me.

Personally, when I play a video game, I prefer to play games that are made up, and involve fantasy. I thought the whole reason for video games was to escape reality.

I am not saying Tony Hawk is a bad video game, personally I don't like it because 1: I don't like sports video games and 2: I really can't stand Tony Hawk--- or most celebrities for that matter.

That arguement right there is not even an arguement. It doesn't make either game better, or worse than the other.

Anyone ever notice that toonami tends to rate sportsy type games at a 10 than most othr games? Take a look at that Fifa game for the PS2. TOM was really into that review and he gave the game a 10. The last Square game they rated (Front Mission 3) received an 8 as well. If you ask me, someone is paying Toonami to rate their games well for a promotional sorta thing.

Here's an even bigger shocker for you people. Now sometimes it seems like game mags rate certain games higher than they should for promotional or they were "nudged" to do it. Ever since FF7 came out, Gamepro has given every FF all 5's but when FFX came out, they gave the graphics a 4.5 due to some inconsistencies and a little clipping. Somehow I think the world is almost against that game and its franchise. :(

Yeah they gave Lunar a slightly bad rating but then again Xenogears got a poor rating as well. Course thats more of the reviewer's part than Gamepro's since a lot of people there really did like Xenogears but Bobba Fat didn't. Course I think Lunar is a little overrated but I have yet to play it.

I saw their review for it just now. It was cool, and I did get excited by all the screen shots and stuff, and they did go pretty in depth on things like blitzball and the summons.

I am just glad they used the actual FFX music! The music is too great to just use a recycled old Toonami beat! And they even switched between music! First it was the suspense music that often plays in the game, then they went to the Blitzball theme music. And it was so cool how they use the victory music at the end and Tidus does his thing where he throws his sword int he air and catches it and does his little pose afterwards!

And they showed a CACTUAR!!!! XD

I saw it it rocked! I can't believe it got an 8 though. Those sports games don't even deserve their 10s (well maybe THPS3). FFX is a great game. People who hate it probably just don't get it's genius. :p

BTW, Lunar and Xenogears are also cool games. Play 'em if you haven't already. And Gamepro sucks. PSM, now there's a goood gaming magazine.

I'm liking FFX so far. It's a great game, not the BEST game EVER. I am enjoying it alot though. BTW, I liked FFVIII. It wasn't horrid, I liked it. Not one of best FFs, but it was a decent game.

Yeah I saw it a couple days ago. Very cool. I was also shocked when TOM gave it a 8. He was giving all praise, except for the part about the game maxing out at 70+ hours (Maxing out meaning you won't play the game for a long time since you have done absolutely everything).

I think TOM (The VA for TOM anyway) likes Sports games, then RPGs.
