Anything goes
January 23, 2007

As announced on ECW.com, following Test's post-match assault on Lashley with the champion's own ECW World Title, both Extremists will meet for the gold at the Royal Rumble. Last week, after Lashley pinned Rob Van Dam in the Triple Threat main event, Test buried him with the title, leaving the champ struggling to see straight. How far will Test go to gain what he thinks is rightfully his? What will transpire this week between these competitors, just days before the Rumble?

Also, Kelly Kelly promised the return of Kelly’s Exposé next week. Of course, shortly afterward, Matt Striker filled Knox’s former role when he interrupted the sneak preview in order to educate her on the distraction she is. She got even though, when she diverted Striker’s attention by taking off her top during his match, allowing CM Punk to cover him up. Will Kelly be able to bring the ECW audience the first full edition of Kelly’s Exposé?

“The Alpha Male” Marquis Cor Von roared into ECW on Sci Fi in dominating fashion. What does he have in store as he moves from the Animal Kingdom to the chaotic Land of the Extreme? According to Cor Von, anything he wants.

Don’t miss ECW on Sci Fi as it kicks into high gear on Tuesday night in preparation for the brand’s first Royal Rumble. It all happens at 10/9 CT.

That was very funny. I wonder if Layla is now ECW full-time. They didn't mention her Smackdown role at all.

According to WWE Fantasy, Layla is still SmackDown!, and last week Kelly Kelly had said she'd have someone from another show on, so it seems to be a one-time deal.

Punk/Burke was much better than I feared. That was a 4-minute match with a run-in/russo finish. Luckily the match went long and it was very good. Hopefully that's not the last Punk/Burke match as they had great chemistry together.

I don't understand why lashley/Test was the main event tonight when they face each other 5 days from now. What illogical booking. http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/huh.gif http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/huh.gif

So with the exception of Punk/Burke, typical blah ECW show.

Good for you pal, because the rest was absolute garbage from my view, especially with the main event swap.

Burke vs Punk was better then expected.
The 5 man battle royal was okay except for the fact that Dreamer looked like an idiot in his elimination.
Main Event wasnt that great, but hey, Test vs Lashely doesnt exactly scream hardcore.
Monty Brown's match was a basic job match.
Kelly's Expose was...ehhh....kinda hot is the best way i can put it

3 out of 5 stars.

As of right now Leyla is a part of ECW:

This does not bode well for Leyla. We all know what happened to that other diva search winner who was "demoted" to a new brand. Ashley better be a little nervous as well too.

I don't see anywhere in there were it says Layla has been moved to ECW. All it says was she was part of the Extreme Exopuse, and it says there might be another one in the future, but no where does it say shes now part of ECW. Since ECW and SmackDown! are filmed together anyway, it really doesn't matter which show they put her on though.

The opening battle royal wasn't very exciting, but how could it be? Only five people were in it and nothing was on the line. Rob Van Dam won this time, but like all of the other ECW wrestlers, he has no chance of winning the Royal Rumble.

So Monty Brown's name has now changed from Marquis to Marcus. That's not too bad, but his new hometown is pretty lame. The Serengeti > The Animal Kingdom > Detroit, MI. Other than those two changes, he had the exact same match this week as he did last week. Nobody's going to care about some new guy who's just beating guys who aren't even on the roster.

So somehow Test got himself into the match against Bobby Lashley instead of Hardcore Holly. Who's making these matches now that Paul Heyman is gone?

Kelly’s Exposé was just a pointless segment with a confusing ending.

CM Punk versus Elijah Burke was decent at best. It looks like Burke has potential, but he needs to learn a few new restholds. Matt Striker didn't add much of anything on commentary. At least he was better than Brad Armstrong.

I'm still trying to figure out the main event. Why would you have the face champion pin the heel challenger cleanly right before their pay-per-view match? I guess it doesn't matter since nobody was going to pay to see any match between Lashley and Test anyway, but it's still lousy booking. Lashley showed some good intensity, but it was still your basic Lashley match. WWE needs to suck it up and push RVD or move another top star onto the show, because this brand is dying.

There's the official proof.

When you look at the ECW Extremist page now, there are only 27 profiles. 5 are Divas, 2 are announcers, and 1 is Terry Funk. That means they only have 19 wrestlers listed. If they did away with the dumb expouse, we'd see almost every person on the roster every Tuesday night.

I guess those top rope challenges are supposed to offer a Rumble preview, but they don't get too exciting. RVD wins in a match that I guess gives him "momentum."

Well I know if I call the new guy "The Alpha Male" I'll be safe. I guess he won again.

Hardcore Holly wasn't too happy with Test. I know the real reason Test got the nod, some moron realized they had booked Mobile, Alabama native Bob Holly in his hometown against the weak Champion.

Wow, so to pump up ECW, someone said "let's do the Nitro Girls only crappy"?! Great move.

Tazz, Michael Cole and everyone else, the saying "somebody called" called and it's friggin tired and worn out, leave it be.

Punk beat Burke. And?

Having Test face Lashley was a terrible move, they should have at least done the traditional tag match or something.
