Tom and Jerry Writers

Why is it that in the Tom and Jerry cartoons, during the opening credits, they never list who wrote the story? They list the story writer in the other MGM cartoons, so why not the T&J cartoons?

I thought H&B wrote them. Barbera wrote a lot of the gags, or so I've heard.

According to Barbera (from an interview), HE worked on the stories and Hanna worked more on the production of the shorts.

Barbera did write most of the T&Js. According to Maltin, Homer Brightman later became the first person to get on screen credit for writing on a T&J cartoon. I'm not sure which was the first one, but it was around the time of the duck's first appearances.
