This eppy was interesting to say the least, but nothing big happened to me. The invisible guy kinda surprised me at the end as I had thought he was the same magma guy from the desert, but guess not...And dear god they need to do something about the Nikki/Jessica storyline cuz it's going nowhere fast.

Claire is probably the best character on the show. At least, I find I pay more attention and are most impacted by her actress while on screen. In this episode, her scene with Mysterious-black-dude was touching and believable.
Now if you contrast that with Nikki's scenes...while I don't nessisarily have a problem with them, they're not nearly as well acted or believable.
Good stuff, if not only for getting us back into the swing of things, and hey! Dr. Who!

Again, Hiro continues to be my favorite character by him super adorable. That said, Peter stating he absorbed some guy's power to explode ruined my theory: I thought he only ended up blowing up after he absorbed too much powers for him to bare. Heh.

That website that was on the card (http://www.primatechpaper.com/career.shtml), is there anyway we can figure out what the code is? I don’t know nothing about technical things, though apparently, what you put into the box needs to meet the set primac, whatever that is. I’m just trying to interpret the source code, though I know nothing about websites, so maybe somebody else will have better luck.

Poor Matt. I really hope that this isn't the last we see of Audrey. I like her, and we already lost Eden.
Speaking of Eden, I'm glad we learned a little more about her and saw Mohinder's reaction to her death. I'm mad that Sylar didn't escape though, because then her death scene really served no purpose.
HIRRROOOOO. I'm glad "the search for the sword" will be an ongoing arc. And I'm not one for spin-offs usually, but if NBC ever wants to make the "Nathan and Hiro Comedy Hour" I will totally watch.
I think Claire will regret involving Zach in her life again. As much as I disagree with the actual mindwipe, I think Daddy McCreepyglasses was right about the danger surrounding Claire and anyone who knows her secret--just look at Jackie.
Also, I hate it in shows or books when a character who's been comatose for a period of time suddenly wakes up and walks out of the hospital. Comas do a lot of damage, and even if it lasts for one day the patient is going to have to go through some sort of rehabilitation. Grah.
CLAAAAAAUUUDE. He's the one I was really waiting for. Even if Nine wasn't my favorite doctor, Christopher Eccleston is a great actor and an awesome fit for this show. And he looks good in a beard. I was disappointed that he was saved until the very end.

yay for more Zack. I was happy to see Claire follow my thoughts (just repeat every again) for getting him back to being her friend.
Loved the bit where Hiro pulled out the sword. I'm assuming Linderman is going to be the Lex Luthor/Big Baddy for the show. Can't wait to find out who he is (season finale perhaps?)
And why is Peter going to Area 51? :p To find Nuke Boy? In which case, how did he know he was there?

You know, Heroes is broadcast in HD. In this episode we see a business card that we're treated to a big old closeup of. Twice. And not only does it look really non-professional, you can even see a bit of a guide line on the edges where someone clearly didn't even cut it out straight. And this is supposed to be the card of someone who works at a paper company?
OK, that was just a little meaningless rant. Pretty good episode.

I read a forum discussion somewhere where they discussed how it seems when the show started they seemed to portray Zach's character as being gay. And now they have been pulling back from that portrayal. Has anyone noticed it or is it even true?
Also, WTF is Peter doing?!? He has visions of himself blowing up New York..And he knows he absorbs powers...So why would he go anywhere near the guy who has that power...thus guaranteeing your absorbing his powers??

Cause he doesn't know?
He's trying to get AWAY from NY so if he does go kablooie, it'll be in the desert (where they've done tests before) vs. in the middle of the city. He and Ted are doing the same thing: isolating themselves so they don't hurt anyone else

Yes, it's true. There's even a thread here about it.
Zach's character was originally conceived as gay, and there were several hints about it in early episodes (such as when he declined Claire's offer to be her Homecoming date, saying that there were "reasons" why he wouldn't go out with her). Tim Kring "outed" Zach in an interview, but admitted that he hadn't even told the actor yet.
Then there was a press release that stated that Zach was straight and would be written as such. It's likely tied into the fact that Thomas Dekker is slated to play John Conner in the Sarah Conner Chronicles, and there's the old double standard that actors who play gay characters must be gay themselves (and of course action heroes must be 100% heterosexual). :rolleyes2:
I really hope that the writers don't go the romance route with Zach and Claire to "prove" his heterosexuality.

Great episode as usual. Hiro and Claire continue to be my favorite characters. In fact, I think Claire has pasted Smallville's Chloe as my favorite TV character. The character is only getting better now that she's got confidence. Hiro interacting with Nathan again is also a plus.
I know Niki/Jessica's story isn't exactly popular, but I still like it. The problem is that Heroes is an A+ show and the Sanders' storyline is only B+/A-. It's good, just not as great as the rest. At least we got some development this time. Niki used her powers for the first time when she snapped the club in half. That wasn't Jessica as usual.
Based on that, it seems we can conclude she doesn't have an Incredible Hulk type of situation where the strength is only available to one personality. I foresee three possible revelations regarding Jessica:
1. Having multiple personalities is a second "power" Niki has.
2. Jessica had a power and before dying transferred herself into Niki's body.
3. The whole multiple personality thing is not supernatural and just good old abnormal psychology stuff.
From the latest interviews I've seen, it looks like the writers are really focusing on season-based story arcs. Which is good in my opinion. I don't watch the show, but I've heard that Lost has had a problem maintaining a continuing plot for longer than that. Of course, I have more faith in Heroes, so that doesn't mean they couldn't make it work.
Oh, and I loved how Nathan makes the comment about everything can't be related just before Hiro shows up talking about Linderman and Flying-Man. Of course, I doubt anything will beat the "great scott" line.

How much time off did he and Ando take?I'm of the mind that they truely think what they're doing will save the world - and so to them being fired or not having a job isn't extremely high on their list of things to worry about. Perhaps Ando is just assuming that Hiro will be able to take them back to when they left when it's all said and done.

Note to self, Hiro, you can do slow motion once you master your powers.
The amount of connections people have to Linderman is mind boggling. The statement that he buys all of Isaac's work that he can reminds me of Samuel Jackson's character from that M Night movie, Unbreakable (I think that was the title). I have this closet theory that Linderman has powers, too, shape shifting. To protect himself from rivals he assumes the identity of Sakimoto, his second. Kinda out there, but...
Thought it was cool that the reoccuring symbol is also a combination of kanji characters for godsend. Why not?
It feels like they are playing up Claire to be a sacrifice. That'd be the ironic approach, Peter had to save her just so that she could sacrifice herself to save the world.
It seems obvious now that Nikki has a demon in her that is posing as her dead twin. The one from the comic book her son has. Kinda waiting to see it in the flesh. That'd be the only thing to get me interested in her sub-plot.
The Haitian talking about God...hmm.
Thought it was mildly funny that Peter didn't even realize that he turned invisible, which turns out to be a nifty power for a bum.
Enjoyed the 300 trailer, can't believe it's coming out in a month and a half.

I seriously doubt that there's anything supernatural about Niki's powers. If anything, the demon in the comic book is a metaphor for Niki's inner demons, i.e. Jessica and her repressed memories about her abusive father.
Has anyone seen the Brian DePalma movie Sisters?
The movie is about a young woman who takes on her twin sister's personality after her death. However, the dead sister's personality is deranged and homicidal. I think Niki's plotline is going in the same direction, with the added bonus of super-strength. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the best.

What's....wrong with Niki? Am I missing something? I want to see where this goes. Every time Jessica shows up again, they keep having to contain her more thoroughly. How far will this go? I want to see. IT'S INTERESTING TO ME.
In fact, it's more interesting than Claire crying for an entire episode.
Where was Stacy ("Lana Lang from the terrible Superboy syndicated series") Haiduk located in this episode? Her name was in the credits but I didn't recognize her anywhere....

Yes, it's true. There's even a thread here about it.

I really hope that the writers don't go the romance route with Zach and Claire to "prove" his heterosexuality.
I went through the first few episodes thinking he was straight, and while I didn't think they'd end up as love interests, I thought Zach may have had a small crush on Claire, (maybe because I identified with Zach, I don't know)...that was up until the prom night episode where Zach mentioned he couldn't go with Claire to the prom, and the way they were phrasing it, I was like, "Ooooh, I see...they're hinting he's gay." And suddenly, I couldn't identify with Zach as easily. Don't get me wrong, I still like the character, but I really thought they were friends with feelings towards one another that they didn't understand, (thus, developing a strong bond of friendship, and maybe a touch of attraction, but nothing more).
At this point, I don't want his sexauality addressed one way or the other. They started to lead towards him being gay, and so be it, but I don't want them to turn around and make the two of them a love interest either. I don't think the creators of this show can win either way at this point (they're going to ruin the great chemistry between the two characters if they're not careful). Better to just leave his sexuality out of it.
Moving on, WHY THE HELL DIDN'T SYLER ESCAPE?!?! I thought that's what happened...how did his powers work last episode anyway? He was able to blow out the window and grab Eden by the neck, yet he couldn't escape?!?! Dammit, this show needs to do a better job of filling in the blanks...

Should we really have to rely on online comics to tell a TV show's story? It's not essential, it just elaborates more. Like the comic told us Eden's origin story and how she discovered her powers. Is it essential to know that to enjoy the show? Nope, but for people who'd like to know more about it, they can read the comic. As for the Sylar escaping, they mentioned they tranq'd him with enough to kill an elephant (which is what happened in the comic)

You know, it's weird but I thought the same thing. My theory is that Linderman is a shapeshifter, but he poses as more than just his second in command. I think he was the man that met with DL to collect the money too.
If they play the story out this way, we can have Linderman constantly being involved with the meta-humans without anyone knowing. He can keep posing as different people that all "work for Linderman", so he can see any Hero he wants in pretty much any setting imaginable.
**crazy theory ahead**
An alternate idea, that's really out there (and would probably upset the fans) is that Linderman is Hiro from the future. Current Hiro's powers went wonky when he traveled far back in time and tried to alter history. Maybe using his powers this way has negative repercussions?
Maybe he tried to travel back in time and got stuck here. He can use his powers to stop time and teleport, but he can't move forward/back in time anymore. If he got stuck 10 years before the start of the series, that would give him enough time to build a criminal empire (he has knowledge of the past after all).

I must've missed the line about tranqing him with enough to kill an elephant. I'm not going to sit down and read all of those comics online because I dont' have time right now, but I read the current one, (about the nuclear guy) and that is basically my complaint: This online comic reveals that the nuclear guy escaped from FBI custody...I don't believe we had ANY reference to that occuring in the series, and it would be even nicer if they had bothered to SHOW such an event...instead of having to learn about it from an online comic. On the show, we saw him practising his powers in the Arizona desert, but for a casual viewer of the show, the last thing that happened with the nuclear guy was that he was in custody!

Given the show's popularity though, I'd wager that we can expect a release anytime between July and December. Also, I suspect it will be the full season on six discs for around $60 MSPR (about $35-$40 in stores).
