No DQ

The bitter rivalry between Chavo Guerrero and Chris Benoit will see a new battle as the two men square off in a No Disqualification Match for the United States Championship as announced by General Manager Theodore Long.

After securing the fastest time in the Beat the Clock Sprint by screwing Undertaker, what will Mr. Kennedy do now that he is the No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship?

Redemption for Mercury?

Joey Mercury has vowed to attack Matt Hardy “again and again” until he gets what he wants from SmackDown’s General Manager. He has blamed Hardy for his injured face, and Hardy was victim to Mercury’s first attack last week. On Friday, Mercury will finally get the chance to extract "revenge" for Hardy's actions when the two meet in singles action.

Long's announcement

WWE.com has learned that SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long has a major announcement to make on Friday night. Sources report that the announcement could have an impact on one the main events for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

I don't think Ashley has done 1 iota of help for her boys ever since she hooked up with them. Or at least not recently. All she does is stand at ringside. Its very rare for a valet/manager to do nothing to help their tag-team win. Not a good hook-up at all.

Interesting debut by deuce and Domino. They've been rumored to debut for many months and they might be alright. Not wrestling-wise.

Not wrestling-wise.

You're kidding me? I thought they were very impressive on their debut. They have the look, talent and a hot valet. I think they'll be fine. Londrick is my favorite tag-team of all-time, and I wouldn't mind them taking the belts off them.

I've been waiting for The Untouchables to be brought up ever since I first heard of their gimmick. It's a great gimmick for sure. The music was great too. Deuce stiffly kicking the crap out of people was freakin' awesome. OOOW~!

ALSO: Cherry inspired such a great burn from JBL: "Is she had a skateboard and a half a brain she could be head of talent relations!"

Batista's sounds so BORED. He's said absolutely NOTHING interesting. He's the only one on this show who isn't entertaining in some way. He's not anti-entertaining like Lashley is, but he's getting there.

I loved that finish. It was just so smart of Kennedy to get intentionally DQed like that.

Besides the Johnny Ace reference, JBL had some more great lines. referring to Michael Cole ans Nancy Pelosi. http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Calling Michael Cole a 1970's PBP guy. http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://209.85.12.231/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Once again, JBL continues to prove why he's the best at commentating.

After listening to Batista's GOD-AWFUL commentary, which was the worst commentary I've ever heard in my life. And I watched a game with Dan Beerdorf commentating last week. I think they should screw it and turn Batista heel. Since it's a formality that Taker and Batista will be the Mania main-event and you KNOW the crowd would cheer Taker and boo Batista. Have them turn Batista heel soon, and make him a threat to end Taker's Mania streak. Hopefully not end it but make him be the dominant one in the Road to Mania. THey sort of started it tonight with Batista accidnetally costing Taker the match.

Overall, decent Smackdown making it the Show of the week yet again.

After that build up, I really hope this whole Guerrero thing is finished.

Mercury needs to get a less revealing nose guard. I looks like his face isn't as bad as it was anymore.

I like the 50's gimmick from Duece and Domino.

To bad about the squash match. Going up against Kane would have been the perfect way to get Miz over.

Taker may not be in the title match but he's still in the Rumble and is the only obvious pick for a winner from Smackdown. I mean WrestleMania is closing in and he doesn't have a match. I wonder if this is going to turn Batista heel.

ALSO: Cherry inspired such a great burn from JBL: "Is she had a skateboard and a half a brain she could be head of talent relations!" Personally, I was ROTFL at JBL's comment about Cherry being a kidnapped Sonic drive-through girl. :anime:

Regarding Batista. It occurred to me that he was far better booked on Raw. Then it occurred to me the difference between him and the (most of) the rest of the Smackdown roster: he doesn't have a cartoon character personality. I guess the Smackdown writers don't know how to book a normal person.

Ken Kennedy thinks he's so smart, he could teach Wile E. Coyote how to catch the Road Runner.:D It's all going to come a'cropper at the Rumble, though. He is SO jobbing.

Will the Hardy-Team Poser (MNM) feud ever end? Let's just trade Matt to Raw for Nitro & Melina, end the tag team feud, and be done with it! Hardys vs. Rated RKO would be money.

Montel Porter actually used a wrestling hold to win a match. That's the good news. The bad news is, he cribbed it from Finlay (Celtic Cross). Good 6-man match, and it's about time Porter actually showed some skillz.

Yo, Deuce & Domino. Bowzer from Sha Na Na called. He wants his gimmick back.:D So does Da Fonz.:D :D Too bad these kids aren't on Raw. They could be used to cross over with "Grease: You're the One That I Want!". Problem is, the producers might actually hire one of them or Cherry away, they're so convincing.;) :D :)

Chavo-Benoit was the match of the night (of course). Now, let's have Chavo challenge Greg Helms for the cruiser title.

Miz has completed a rare trifecta. He's fought all three of WWE's supernatural characters (Kane, UT, Boogeyman). The only other ones who can say that are King Booker & JBL.

JBL had the line of the night, not to mention the month, getting in a dig on Johnny Space Ace when referring to Cherry (he called her Sherrie), he said that if she had half a brain and a skateboard, she'd be head of Talent Relations. ROTFLMAO!! Space Ace must've pissed JBL off by cutting a friend of his.

All the cuts that have been made, and I see now that the list has swelled to 16, counting a writer, and has stretched to OVW, have to do with Vince needing to have a significant amount of coin on hand to coax Donald Trump to appear on Raw and give their corporate masters at NBC-Universal the crossovers they want. I'd rather they send Jonathan Coachman over to "The Apprentice" and he's never seen again.

Adopted son, it should probably be mentioned. But he does have the same name as his dad: James Reiher and James Reiher Jr. He did wrestle in the indies as Jimmy Snuka Jr. Shame if they never acknowledge it, and have Piper come whack him with a coconut.

The "we're people from the '50s" gimmick is going to wear thin very very fast (it's the kind of gimmick I'd expect from one of those indie federations who isn't really even trying to make good gimmicks), but the wrestlers themselves look like they have potential.

So what happened between Kristal and Vickie anyway? She said she had something very personal to discuss with her and then we never heard anything more about it. Surely that can't really be a private conversation!

Kennedy was his usual self at the open of the show and I’m excited to see him take his first PPV shot at the Championship. Then Teddy Long had to go and make the whole thing more complicated.

Joey Mercury and his buddy Johnny Nitro clearly had a plan to extract some revenge on Matt Hardy. Nitro obviously got to SmackDown! without Jeff knowing, otherwise the odds would have been even. The crossover betweens these two tag teams seems to be far from over.

Vickie, take off the damn neck brace!!! I can’t even remember when you got pushed around anymore and it doesn’t compliment your figure at all.

I liked the six-man tag team match. It was full of good athletes and a guy in a dress. I loved bringing things up another notch by calling Vito “she”.

Benoit and Chavo have brought it each and every time they’ve stepped in the ring. This feud manages to keep most of its fire despite the dominance Benoit has had in wins and losses.

Not quite sure why Kennedy would be talking to Jillian. I’m guessing he just needed someone to talk to, but we’ll see.

I just have to wonder when one minute we see Sylvester Terkay and Tatanka released and the next minute we see a tag team like Deuce and Domino. They were impressive in the ring against their jobber opponents, but this is the best they could come up with for gimmick?

I figured Kane running the Miz off when he was trying to brag to the uninterested Divas (which was great), but WWE’s favorite reality star had to do a lot more than run away. Miz hasn’t been doing so hot since having to feud with Boogeyman.

Wow, Batista was just a ball of fire on commentary wasn’t he? *yawn*

I was afraid I was going to miss the rest of the main event after the last commercial break because I sound, but no picture. Fortunately it all came back on and I was able to see the genius that is Ken Kennedy.

I dug Mercury-Hardy (even though they should probably wait a bit before doing this match), Benoit-Chavo, the 6-man, the debut of Deuce and Domino, and Kennedy-Taker. Plus, JBL (and Cole) were at their best tonight.

"He's going after Matt with the two feet God gave him - like a man!"
"You wouldn't come here if you had a hurt knee to a show in England, let alone get in the ring!"
"So I understand you went to the Clinton library... Yeah, they've got a whole room for fat chicks."
"All I'm looking for is a little unbiased announcing, Mr. Announcer from the 1970s'."
"Nitro's from Raw on Mondays, John! WHO CARES!?".

"It's a mixed tag match! He grabbed him by the girdle!"
"Regal with a half nelson suplex to Vito... That's what they do to women in England, they should do it to Camilla Parker Bowles.".
"They're choking her! No, he's the toughest man to ever wear a dress!".
"What are you complaining about, you MEALY MOUTHED MORON!?".
"If you wanna be a bear, be a grizzly, THIS IS WHAT I LIKE!".
"Imagine if Chavo beats Benoit with the crossface. WOW, I HADN'T THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE! I'm the color man, that's my job.".

"If she knew how to skateboard and had half a brain, she could be head of talent relations!" "I am enjoying Cherry, it's just Deuce and Domino I don't like. She's on wheels." "They're like all the other great greasers, Elvis and James Dean... THEY'RE ALL DEAD!".
"I'm at a loss for words. That's what happens when you're dyslexic.".
"Mr. Untouchable?! We've got Elliott Ness in a black leather jacket!".
"IS THIS THE BEST ARKANSAS HAS TO OFFER!? No, it's the dope from Hope.". "They're from the decade when the Freebirds were around. No, that was the '70s.".
"She's good, but not nearly big enough for the former President to hit on her.".
"They're gonna make a statement... with combs, skates, and leather jackets. Then we'll see if Cherry has anymore outfits that are more revealing.".

"PARLEYVU FRENCH MAID!". "OH MY GOD! GO WORK ON THE VIEW. Go work with Rosie.". "So he's lying to women? WHO HASN'T DONE THAT! I haven't. You're an idiot. I'm an investment banker. Miz is in another dilemna, and I personally hope he gets destroyed.".
"Did you really ask if I'd put myself into Miz's shoes? I wear Burno Macci, not clown shoes.".
"At one point in his career, Miz was undefeated. Now he's a pinata. WELCOME TO KANE'S WORLD!"
"Kevin Sullivan used to do that tree of woe... of course he had to do it with the middle rope.".
"I lasted 48 minutes once in the Rumble and thought I was going to die from oxygen deprivation.".
"THROW HIM THROUGH THE RING, KANE! FOR THE GOOD OF THE BUSINESS!".

"I'm not your partner, I'm not your pal, and I'm damn sure not a friend or partner of Batista TURN OFF THE DAMN FIREWORKS WHEN I'M TALKING!" "Batista, it's our pleasure... NO IT ISN'T, IT ISN'T MY PLEASURE! Fine then, it's my pleasure... that's good enough for me.".
Cole - "If Undertaker gets added to this match, it'll get real interesting, real CURIOUS!".

I believe Batista's situation has more to do with his poor workrate and average mic skills . He's a hoss nothing more, nothing less.

Batista's muscles are what gets him the championship, but he was better at the mic when he was with Evolution.

For all of these reasons, Smackdown beats out Impact as the top show for this week.

Hey look! When did Lenny and Squiggy go into wrestling? :D

And once again: JBL is a mic God!
