One of my favorite things to read when I feel nostalgic:
You're a 90's kid if:
You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"
You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"
You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.
You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"
You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.
You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.
You remember reading "Goosebumps"
You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"
You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.
You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.
You danced to "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls, Females: had a new motto, Males: got a whole lot gay-er. (so tell me what you want, what you really really want.)
You remember the craze, then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.
You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...
Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? was both a game and a TV game show.
Captain Planet.
You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green Ranger were meant to be together.
When playing power rangers with friends you fought over who got to be who............and still all ended up being Tommy.
You remember when super nintendo's became popular.
You remember watching home alone 1, 2 , and 3........and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders"
"I've fallen and I can't get up"
You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates
Two words... Trapper Keeper.
You never got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide
You wore socks over leggings scrunched down
"Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back" SHE ASKED HER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER FOR FIFTY CENTS CENTS CENTS TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS PHANTS PHANTS JUMP OVER THE FENCE THE FENCE THE FENCE

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players
You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool
You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"
You played and/or collected "Pogs"
You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere
You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles
NANCY DREW AND THE HARDY BOYS WERE THE BEST MYSTERY BOOKS
Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff!
All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.(pencils.notebooks.binders.etc.)
You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out.
You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes.
You remember a time before the WB.
You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"
You know the Macarena by heart.
"Talk to the hand" ... enough said
You thought Brain woud finally take over the world
You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"
You remember when everyone went slinky crazy.
You remember when razor scooters were cool.
When we were younger:
Before the MySpace frenzy...
Before the Internet & text messaging...
Before Sidekicks & iPods...
Before MIKE JONES...
Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX...
...Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night.
When light up sneakers were cool.
When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.
When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.
When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie.
When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

Well, the 90s was more like my teenager-hood (I was born in the early 80s), bit I do miss it so. Back when I actually cared about the latest music groups and TV shows.
I do actually know all the words to the Fresh Prince rap :D Is that bad? It was pretty popular when I was in middle school. And I did have tons of Lisa Frank stuff.

I was the only person I knew who had one. It was pretty cool seeing my friends with these colorless Gameboys while I was playing with the full color goodness of the Game Gear. It's still my favorite videogame system.
One of my favorite things to read when I feel nostalgic:This is really dumb. You grew up in the 90's if... you remember these things that were exclusively made in the 90's for you! There seems to be something very wrong with this generation, that we can't accept that we've grown up and are constantly looking back to our childhoods. I'm not going to pretend I don't fall in line here; I still watch the cartoons I grew up with and the TV shows.
While there were a few true gems (as there are now) most things we grew up with were ridiculously dumb. Ever seen an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark in recent years? The show is quite possibly the worst written program to have ever existed, and yet it's a staple of "oh man do you remember how great X was...?"

Very true, I can't even watch a full episode of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and not laugh at how terrible it was despite how much I loved the show back then.

tv shows like home improvement,Bruce Timm's dCAU at the time (especially TNBA),Steven Speilbergs toons, simpsons and other stuff.
Movies:All disney movies,rush hour,godzilla,batman movies etc.
Comics :Batman comics were an important part of my life.

These things were important to me in the 90s and they still are now.

The point isn't whether it was a quality show or not (I watch MMPR today and just get a kick out of the cheesiness as opposed to thinking it was so wonderful as a kid), but what kind of impact it had on you. I like looking back at lists like this and remember how much fun I had as a kid. That's hardly stopping me from moving forward with life (I am 2,000 miles away from home and on my own at this point, after all), so I don't see what the problem is.

Well, the 90's is nice only if you look into the entertainment side of it. It was rough for the rest of us who had to deal with 90's issues at a young age. Drugs in the family and in communities, Seperation, Divorce, Rasism, STDs/Hiv/Aids, rampid crime in large cities, riots, unemployment, the raise of the latchkey genration, Columbine and the No Tolerance rule, ect, ect, ect, and ect.

Well, it also came with a rechargable battery pack AND an adaptor. I never figured out how to use the battery pacl though and so just used the adaptor whenever possible. Then one day the adaptor shorted out and I was back to using batteries until sometime in 2000-01, I believe. It just wasn't fun anymore going through all those batteries.

Some of my favorite things from the 90s are...
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System
The Sega Genesis
Apple Cinnamon Rice Krispies cereal
Disney Channel from the 90s (it had a lot of variety back then)
Beast Wars
The Ren and Stimpy Show
Rocko's Modern Life
Ruby-Spears' Mega Man cartoon series
Earthworm Jim (video game and cartoon series)
I also think that 1995 had to be the best year for video games, since a lot of cool video games were released in that year, such as Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Mega Man 7, Earthworm Jim 2, and Vector Man.

My childhood was pure 1990s, as I was born in 1986 and I hardly have any decent memories before age four. I remember...
- reading "Outland" in my local Sunday paper
- watching "Bill Nye the Science Guy" every weekday afternoon on PBS
- being riveted with anticipation when "Rocko's Modern Life" premiered, then not understanding more than half the jokes
- when the Disney Channel was still a premium cable channel, and actually showed the classic Disney cartoons
- going to see Aladdin in theaters - twice (and repeating the same action three years later with Toy Story)
- my earliest, earliest memories of watching "The Simpsons" with my older relatives (I saw "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" back when it was a new episode)
- that night in 1994 that my dad let me stay up late enough to watch the first 45 minutes of Jurassic Park on HBO
- watching the Bob Saget version of "America's Funniest Home Videos" and wishing he'd just shut up already
- not having any idea who OJ Simpson was or why everyone was so worked up about him
- falling in love with R. L. Stine's "Goosebumps" books, and always waking up early enough to watch the TV show on Fox Kids
- catching my first glimpse of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" in December 1995
- actually thinking that "Macarena" by Los Del Rio was a good song
- feeling my first pangs of attraction to the opposite sex while watching swimmer Amy Van Dyken in the 1996 Summer Olympics
- the heavy sadness I experienced when I learned that "Animaniacs" wasn't coming back
- realizing that "Hey Arnold" was like no other Nicktoon I'd seen before - it was a lot deeper than it seemed
- seeing Batman and Robin in theaters and being sorely disappointed
- developing a brief phase of Star Wars mania when I saw the remastered editions in theaters
- having Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" stuck in my head for days at a time
- hearing my mom laughing at "South Park" every night and wondering why I couldn't watch it with her
- being bombarded with the music of N*Sync and the Backstreet Boys no matter where I went
- seeing Armageddon in theaters and being sorely disappointed
- feeling my second pangs of attraction to the opposite sex when Britney Spears became popular
- my first n00bish experiences with the wide world of Internet forums
- becoming hopelessly addicted to "Pokémon"
- seeing Godzilla in theaters and being sorely disappointed
- discovering that "FoxTrot" wasn't anywhere near as bad as the "Calvin and Hobbes" fans said it was
- seeing Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in theaters...and actually liking it for some reason
In the immortal words of Archie Bunker, "those were the days..."

I was born in '82, but the 90's were quite the interesting time. The cartoons and TV shows were more entertaining, food tasted better, popular music was cool rather than annoying, Christmas lasted longer, I didn't have this arthritis. But I'm sure everyone looks back on their younger years with those kinds of thoughts.
- falling in love with R. L. Stine's "Goosebumps" books, and always waking up early enough to watch the TV show on Fox Kids
Goosebumps was a really cool book series. Despite the Fox show, it didn't reach Harry Potter levels of popularity, but it was the thing to read back then.

Only thing I miss about the 90s was Pantera. They're pretty much the only reason heavy metal survived the end of that decade.
Oh yea also Rocko's Modern Life.

Allow me to list them:
1.Animation shorts, these were on everywhere and they were actually creative, now its rare you'll find any let alone a none 3D one.
2."Televisions point", TV had a point back then as it was entertaining, now TV is praticly useless.
3.Creativity, its seems like everthing dulled down at some point.
4.Plane crashes, you could have these in cartoons without major citisism.
5.The fact that anime didn't bombard most of CN's line-up.
6.Legends of the hidden temple.
7.Creative children shows like "Shining time station".
8.Odd ball animation, now a days you only really see it in toddler toons.
9.Decent movies, alot of them now are either crummy remakes or Shrek wannabes.
10.Technology was less common than now.
11.The news was more interesting rather than mostly useless Iraq junk.
Need I list more?

Amen! I'm 27 now, but I remember Christmas from the earlier part of the decade to be so magical. It's amazing so much changes. Now I wish I could skip right over it so I wouldnt have to deal with it.

Probably the biggest thing that made life great in the 90's was, I didn't have Internet. Imagine, having nothing to do but watch cartoons, play outside and doodle on notebook paper all day! Looking up information in a 28-volume encyclopedia that took up two entire shelves in the living room bookcase. Not having ANY advance knowledge of ANY movie or show you were watching.
Those were really the days. :)

Things I remember about the 90's.
*Two of Michael Jordon's three retirments (the good ones where he went out on top.)
*The Genesis and the SNES.
*When people were shelling out hundreds of dollars for pogs.
*When various types of Troll dolls were popular (even with boys.)
*When the N64 came out.
*Tickles me Elmo and Furbies turning reasonable adults into violent savages.
*The OJ case. Everything from the chase interupting the NBA finals, to listening to the verdict of "not guilty" in my 5th grade class.
*Poor Jaleal White and all of the Urkel madness (I remember the Urkel doll.)
*When lots of people were into comic cards.
*When Jurrasic park came out and satisfied all my Dinosaur loving needs (I was a huge Paleo geek.)
*When Disney was whoopin tale with their animated movies and television shows.
*When Cartoon Network started.
*When the Oklahoma city bombing happened.
*When Titanic was the biggest thing since sliced bread.
*A girl I like being to into N'sync and the Backstreet boys to notice me :( .
*The Clinton scandals, and all the horrible jokes that went with them.
*And finally the Apocolyptic Y2K scares of 1999 (because of course the computers would think it was 1900 not 2000.)

I was born in the 70's, so my teen years were in the early 90's, but do recall enjoying going off to college (and finishing college), along with seeing things like grunge, the rise of cartoons on cable, modern cartoons like the Simpsons and Animaniacs coming along, the Internet becoming popular, etc. That, and was interesting to see world events like the fall of the Soviet Union (the "no good communist Russkies" as we were constantly told in the 80's), and the first Democrat president I can actively recall (Clinton; was starting kindergarden during the last year of Carter's presidency).

In a positive, nostalgic way like the 60s, or with a shuddered, "what were we thinking?" reaction like the 80s (not that either decade really deserves those blanket generalisations)? Only time will tell, I suppose, but some things that stick out in my 90s childhood/teen years:
The Sega Megadrive. Man, we had an awesome collection of games (I'll probably regret saying that, as it was probably puny compared to some other posters' here).
Great toonage - the Simpsons running right through the decade. B:TAS igniting a passion for animation in me. Animaniacs' frantic genius. Lots and lots of great, short-lived personal favourites - the Critic, Downtown, the Maxx, Earthworm Jim, Stressed Eric, AoStH, Tintin cartoons, Beavis and Butthead, the Dreamstone, King Arthur and the Knights of Justice... I know some of these weren't exactly short-lived, but it still feels like I was watching them an eternity ago.
My two favourite shows, Daria and Hey Arnold, which I discovered towards the end of the decade - they lit up that rather grim period for me.
Lots of great music - I got involved in the various scenes throughout the early - mid 90s: early rave and house, the grunge scene, "Madchester", trip-hop, industrial and finally Britpop. Exciting times, and great music that still stands up.
The X-Files - oh lordy, my obsession with this programme scaled truly frightening heights. Everyone at school knew me as the X-Files boy. I regret nothing! Loved ST:TNG and Quantum Leap too.
Of course there was lots of lousy stuff too. The last couple of years were rather dull, and lots of unappealing things in popular culture that are prevailant now started to develop back then. Kurt Cobain's suicide, and at around the same time the death of Ayrton Senna, a Formula 1 driver - very depressing.
Can't remember anything else right now.

What do I miss about my 90's childhood?
Blowing on the Nintendo cartridge to get it to work.
.....and the Spice Girls.

Oh, how could I have forgotten - Final Fantasy VII! Besides the X-Files that was my other big obsession. Totally consumed me for months.

Dont forget about all the great PC games of the 90s as well: Wolfenstein 3d, DOOM, Myst, Dark Forces, Redneck Rampage, Jazz Jackrabbit, Full Throttle, Day of the tentacle, Sam and Max, Duke Nukem 3D, Half-Life (i think that came out in 98 or 99 but im not sure), etc.
The '90s were the best. I remember Oasis and Blur's row over their singles being released the same day. I remember a nation being comforted after Princess Diana's death by "The Drugs Don't Work" by The Verve. Cartoon Network aired the classics, and MTV aired music videos. The BBC still had (for most of the '90s) their slanty boxes logo, which I adored.

ITV aired exciting game shows and class sitcoms on Saturday nights. They had their best lineups in the '90s. Since then, it's degenerated into Popstars/Come Dancing ripoffs and hour-long sob stories. I also remember the new millenium and the fear of the Y2K bug.
Let's hope the 2010's are just as awesome as the '90s. I think of the noughties as the second coming of the eighties: The Age of Excess II, if you will.

Another thing.
Princess Diana's death: All the coverage was crazy. I can only imagine what UK residents went through in regardas to the media.

I don't know how many people remember that sega had a channel and you could subscribe through your cable company. You then could play all these games through your TV and the Sega Genesis. I thought that was cool back then. Unfortunately it didn't last long though.
