I don't like to think about death too much, but it's something that's been on my mind lately.
Do you think Fox has any replacement vocal artists for the main voices on The Simpsons if, heaven forbid, one of the main cast members dies or retires?
I know it's not anything people want to think about, but if the unforunate does occur, how would Fox react? Unlike the characters voiced by Phil Hartman and Doris Grau, they can't just write off Mr. Burns, Moe, or any member of the Simpsons clan from the series.
So, my question is do you think they have a plan to replace them, or will The Simpsons end with the death of a major cast member?

I have a feeling that if that were to happen, the show would en--

Knowing Fox they may have a backup actor to make sure it doesn't happen.
But to me Al Jean, the Simpsons production crew, and Fox itself may be arrogant SOBs in so much that they can run this show towards eternity and nothing ill will ever happen to their beloved cast.

They replaced Mel Blanc... why wouldn't they replace the voices on the Simpsons if they could? @_@

They DID replace Grau's character. It just had to happen over a decade since Doris' passing. She's voiced by Tress MacNeille now.

Didn't that long-ago gag try to cover this issue? ("Plus, they can replace the actors and nobody can tell the diddily-ifference.") Somehow, I think it'll be done.

I shudder to think what this should would be like after 18 seasons of the same voices.
Well, hopefully they'll make it to Season 20 before any major catastrophe's strike with the show.

Because the people who make "The Simpsons" aren't the same people who are trying to wring every last ounce of profitability out of the Looney Tunes, and thus, they have different standards. When Doris Grau died, they reduced Lunchlady Doris to nonspeaking roles. When Phil Hartman died, they retired his characters altogether. The crew of "The Simpsons" has the utmost respect for their voice cast, and would never think of replacing them. If one of the principal actors died (Dan, Julie, Nancy, Yeardley, Hank, or Harry), that'd almost certainly be the end of the show.

Wrong. Yardly Smith (is that right? the voice of Lisa) Only does 1 character while everyone else does many. If she quit the show could go on.

Lisa is a core character

The show wouldn't survive without Yeardley or Harry in my opinion.
