Those who browse DeviantArt daily probably saw this pic, a manga-style drawing of The Simpsons:

Well, it turns out that the picture got so popular over the Internet that it's going to be published in two different magazines, ImagineFX and Zoo Weekly. At least one of them will have an article recognizing the artist's work.

But it doesn't end there. The artist got contacted by Bongo Comics and she was hired to draw a manga-style Simpsons comic that Groening and co. have been lying around for weeks. They decided her style was the perfect style for it.

And it STILL doesn't end there. Then she got a call from the Director of Illustration of FOX. Basically, she might get hired to work as a concept artist for the NEW EPISODES OF FUTURAMA.

More info at her LiveJournal entry: http://space-coyote.livejournal.com/157500.html

The Internet is surely an amazing thing.

Wow, that's amazing. It hasn't even been there very long, and she got work. She's good for the short manga Simpsons comic, and at first I was skeptical about her being able to design for Futurama, but then I saw some of her Groening-style work, and she's able to do that well too. I tip my hat to the lucky woman.

Edit: The Futurama manga piece is even beter than The Simpsons one.

credit should also be given to digg.com who brought the story to the masses.

I'm happy for her. Is it still okay for me to think it looks terrible? Because it does. I had never considered the possibility of manga-styled Simpsons before, and now that I've seen it I don't like it.

That does sound great for her, and all the best, but... ZOO? What the hell would a magazine more concerned about who's got the biggest breasts that's even more tabloid than FHM.

Well... at least it'll be publicity for her, so well done!

I just left a comment on her LiveJournal account (blog).

That's truly amazing! Good luck to her, then!

Wow I can't wait to see that as a comic.
And buy it accordingly.
EDIT: Oh and the Futurama one isn't bad either.

I echo everyone else here. Good for her, but I really dont like that art. In fact, the more I look at it the less I like it.

Please, don't let the new Futurama episodes become Mangafied.

Please, don't let the new Futurama episodes become Mangafied.

Considering that they only hired her because she can draw characters in Matt Groening's art style I highly doubt that.

It took me forever to finally realize it, but Bart looks like young Vash from Trigun.

I think the FUTURAMA characters are better suited for that style.

Seconded; because I still dream of being in the animation industry, and know it's not going to happen.

Anyway, my congrats to her. (That sure is one amazing way to get a job!)

We should all be as lucky as that young lady.

And I hope we all get to see her work real soon.

Wonder if any of my stuff will ever be noticed by anybody in the comics/animation field.
