I couldn't find a talkback thread for this one on this board (if there is and I missed it, please feel free to merge this post). I just wanted to let everyone know that a review of the recent Harveytoons: The Complete Collection (http://reviews.goldenagecartoons.com/harvey/) DVD set has been posted on GAC.

Thanks for posting it, Jon. I loved it. I might also add that the Paramount Cartoon Studios bulding on HARVEYTOONS really confused me as a 1960s kid..I had expected to see...um..HARVEY CARTOON STUDIOS (all references to Paramount and to Warner Bros.were done away with by "a.a.p" releases udner Guild Films in WB case) and of course in 1988 like Gumby with the Capitol Seely/Loose/Shaindlin/Capital music, rights precluded the continuation ofthe Paramount music, which also sadly included too many of Winston Sharples more sahccarine compositions, but others were underrated. I would have loved to have like Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, for Winston Sharples to be allowed to spprinkle more Paramount songs, thouhg MGM and Wrners toon seemed more sutiable (Betty Hutton's Paramount song especially seemed more suited for Herman and Katnip than Casper IMO>)

Great reveiw.(I first thought it was a link to the GAC thread on the subject.)

Just curious, Jon, who owns the Casper, Little Audrey, etc. cartoons from the 1940's?

The pre-1950 Famous cartoons (including the early Noveltoons, Little Lulu, early Caspers, etc) are owned by Republic Entertainment (a part of Viacom). They also have the rights to all Fleischer shorts (except Popeye and Superman). Sadly, there is no interest in releasing that material onto DVD at this time.
