View Full Version : G4TV Thought
I don't watch G4 very often, but I watched Attack of the Show last night because they had Brain from Kotaku and Chris from Joystiq on for the Loop segment. They were discussing video games in 2007, but I felt as though the segment was to short. I've been thinking that G4 needs to develop a full half-hour or even full hour show similar to the Loop where personalities within the industry could discuss video games. It could certainly help G4 get back on track.
Your thoughts?
On track for what? They aren't a video game channel anymore. Almost every staff member is a gamer, which gives some gaming opinions in nearly every show, but really, all you have is X-Play (which is new 3 times a week), and Cheat, which is also still brand new every now and then. I think they are improving, at least when it comes to the 'original shows' that they produce like X-Play, Cheat, and AOTS. The rest of the network needs work, but at least they produce a couple good shows.

I used to watch 'X-Play' a lot, but stopped after Morgan Webb got 'secretly' married (having once been part of the MW fan community I know these things). I watch AOTS occasionally but not regularly, and I don't much like many of their non-gaming shows...I miss the old G4TechTV :(

What happened to G4? What's the point of calling it "Video Game TV" if it only has 2 shows dedidcated to games? The other shows DO NOT belong there. Espeically, "The Man Show!" and "Arrested Development!"

Wait, so you quit watching X-Play, because Morgan Webb, who you will never meet in person or ever date got married? Least I quit watching because G4 kept moving it around the schedule to the point that I have no idea when it's on anymore.

I stopped watching X-Play because it became over-reliant on skits. They try too hard now, and it shows. It's just not funny anymore. Not to mention they shoot new episodes with re-run game reviews, so there's no point in watching half the new episodes anymore.
I could care less if they steer away from Video Games. Would I like them to have kept it like they used to? Yeah, without a doubt. I liked that format. But I can see why they chose to broaden the market.
My issue is what they chose to broaden that market with. I don't mind that they brought in new shows, I just barely watch it now because most of the new shows they picked up aren't that good. Get some better ones video-game centric or not, and I'll watch more.
Although, I must admit, I am kind of addicted to Ninja Warrior.

I watch the podcast reviews, but even when confined to the reviews, they are grating. Look, we all know the 4Kids Luffy has an annoying voice. We were complaining way before you were. You don't have to repeat it ad nauseum as part of a skit.

GFarceCrapTV is nothing but a stinkhole...
Take X-Play for example. Their reviews are laughably predictable:
review game
make stupid
repeat unfunny scene throughout the review
poke fun at a celebrity
add some unfunny character to comment on the review
rate it (A 2....out of 5)
And the awards episode bugged me because for best fighting game, Mortal Kombat Armaggedon got nominated, even though they bashed the game and gave it a 2.....out of 5. WTF?
On to the rest of the channel...
Since when do the shows Cops, Star Trek, and some stupid Man Show have to do with video games!? This isn't Spike TV, you know!!!!
IGN or Gamespot should seriously have a television network, they would be 10x better than GFarceCrapTV. :p

Kristin Holt, actually. She also used to be a professional cheerleader and an American Idol contestant. She's kinda cute, too...

Yeah, Kristin Holt was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
