Watching Legacy today got me thinking, Supergirl should appear on Justice League. Then I remembered that at one point a Supergirl series had been proposed (at some point after Little Girl Lost was made).

I also remember that there was a proposed Lobo series, and a Legion of Superheroes, and the Catwoman series. What ever happened to these shows?

Any I forget?

There was also a proposed Robin series. Both those and the Catwoman series were proposed back during the height of BTAS. The Robin show would have been aimed at the younger folks -- but I think the reason it didn't fly was because, at that time, Robin was in his 20's.

Didn't they re-propose that one when kids WB was asking for a Teenage Bruce Wayne as Batman series?

A Robin series would have been nice, but a Nightwing series would be even better.

Anything would have been better than the waste of time and ink that Batman Beyond was.

a "womans night out" type episode using Supergirl, WW, Hawkgirl and Batgirl would rule.........

So you would have rather had a show where they took Bruce Wayne and made him into a hip, teenage Batman and tossed everything (comics and previous animated series) out the window just to appeal to kids over a series that respected what came before it and at least made some sense continuity wise?

Now, now, Batman Beyond wasn't a bad show, it was just...well...missing something. For what it was, it WORKED, but it just didn't seem to be from the same place as the original Batman came from. Apart from Bruce Wayne being in the show and the character being called Batman and other little things, it just didn't seem like "Batman". It was strange.

That being said, I thought the unedited Return of the Joker was very good. It seems they were just hitting their stride when they cancelled everything.

I'm not sure, but I don't know if a solo Tim Drake-Robin series would have worked. His Robin was the way Robin should be -- a sidekick. He couldn't have carried a show on his own.

I would have loved to see the Catwoman series. :(

If Batman Beyond was a waste of time, why did you waste your time watching it? And posting about it on a message board that's partly about Batman Beyond? ;) "The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference."

No, the opposite of love is 4 hours of Dragonball Z a day on CN and Scobby Doo on KidsWB!.

I would really like to see a Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing series- heck even a Supergirl series would be sweet. I would rather have any of those than Batman Beyond. BB wasn't to my liking altough it did have its moments. After JL I'd like to see any of these series materielize.

That in a nutshell is X-Men Evolution. WHile I give you some time to ponder over that, I think we all would have welcomed an independent Nightwing series that would have introduced elements from the comic book series. After all we really didn't learn much about Bludhaven from the series.

Nightwing would be perfect for an animated series. It could take place a few short months after the end of TNBA. Nightwing realizes he needs to make his own mark andheads to Bludhaven (or Plasmahaven - a KWB friendly name! :)). There he doscovers himself as well as fights a corrupt town. It would be ideal for the occasional Bat-villain to drop in as well as some new Nightwing rogues. It would almost be a no-brainer. Bring back Loren Lester and you got on heckuva show.

I didn't know there were people that didn't like Batman Beyond. Interesting.

I always wanted to see a Nighwing series. Too bad it never happened.

And that's a good point, why isn't Supergirl in JL? Keep in mind that I've only seen one episode so far, so I don't know that much on how the characters gel in the show, but it makes sense for her to be in that show. Unless she's taking care of business that Superman usually does while he's away somewhat like in Legacy.

I must be the only one who doesn't like Nightwing.

About Supergirl, I figure she's still working hard on her schoolin, and that's why she's not always fighting crime.

Oh, and speaking of things we never got to see, here's an excerpt from Batman: Animated by Paul Dini:

The Fox Network, on the assumption that kids won't watch a kid's show unless kids are in it, soon began insisting that Robin be prominently featured in every episode. When Fox changed the title from Batman: The Animated Series to The Adventures of Batman & Robin, they laid down the law-- no story premise was to be considered unless it was either a Robin story or one in which the Boy Wonder played a key role. Out were underworld character studies like "It's Never Too Late"; in were traditional Batman and Robin escapades like "The Lion and the Unicorn." A potentially intriguing Catwoman/Black Canary team-up was interrupted in midpitch to the network by their demand, "Where's Robin?" When the writers asked if they could omit Robin for just this one episode, Fox obliged by omitting the entire story.

Looking back, there was nothing drastically wrong with Robin's full-time insertion into the series-- after all, kids do love him. Our major gripe at the time was that it started turning the series into the predictable Batman and Robin show people had initially expected it would be. For the first season, Batman had been an experiment we weren't sure would work. We were trying out different ways of telling all kinds of stories with Batman as our only constant. For better or worse, having a kid forced him, and the series, to settle down.

Although, I would still invest my own money to see a Paul Dini written Capt. Marvel series, I wouldn't mind a Nightwing series. Expecially if they threw in ocassional appearances of the Teen Titans.

If they ever made a Nightwing series...you would have heard on the news about a girl dying with this huge grin on her face, lol. I would be so estastic if they made a (GOOD) Nightwing series. Speaking oh shows that never were, and I know that this has been talked about before...but wasn't a live action Bruce Wayne show a possibility. I was getting my nails done for a school dance, and picked up a magazine to read...I instantly grabbed for the Entertainment Weekly because the guy who plays Clark on Smallville was on it. And in the article it said that originally they had a Bruce Wayne, before Batman kind of show in the works, but it just flopped and they couldn't get it off the ground. And when they were approached about doing a Clark Kent show, they took it, and it took off. As much as I would have loved to of seen a live action Batman series again. I think that a "before Batman" series would not have been successful at all.

They also could have maybe worked in a Flash guest-appearance since he and Nightwing are buddies. :D

Forget Lois and Clark, I want to see a Dick and Barb series! :)

I actually think that would be cool, a series focusing on them and their relationship, as well as their crimefighting, with Batman and Robin making cameo appearences. :D

I'd heard rumblings (pre-ever hearing about Smallville) that a 'Gotham City' show was planned featuring a pre-Batman Bruce Wayne. It was either called 'Gotham City' or 'Bruce Wayne', I can't remember. For whatever reason, it fell through.

I'm thinking that the possibility of a 'Year One' movie may have had something to do with it at the time.

No, No... This could have been really good !! Think about it-
Not in a High School "Smallville" kinda way, but in a Now-we-get-to-see-Bruce-abroad in his studies with detectives, magicians, scientists, sensei, etc. that would be needed for his future destiny. That could have been AWESOME !!
