I heard that there was an episode that amalgamated the two fight sequences of "The Dark Knight Returns" against the Mutant leader...
Is Ep #104 that episode?
And if so, does anyone know when I can catch it again to tape it? I missed it during the marathon. :-\

The episode was entitled Legends of the Dark Knight and featured three vignettes:
1 - A homage to the 1960's Batman
2 - A homage to Frank Miller's Dark Knight
3 - A homage to the current animated series
As for the next airdate, not until March until the earliest. But if I hear anything I'll post it up here or in the newspage. Here's the synopsis and info of the episode from the episode guide:
Episode #104 - Legends of the Dark Knight
Original Airdate - October 10th, 1998.
Several children give their much-varying viewpoints of who and what they think Batman is and represents.
You can read a review for it HERE. I hope this helps!

Was I the only one who caught the "Joel" Character, who thought of Batman wearing Rubber, and driving the Batmobile up walls?
He was portraied in a very homosexual way. Note, I spoilered that, cause..well..it's somewhat un-P.C.
oh well...I liked that ep. =D

Also, you may want to note that the sign behind the Joel character says "Shoemaker". :D
I remember when the episode first premiered, everyone here couldn't stop talking about it. It was like the show rose up and attacked Shumaker for his travesty.
Bright neon....classic. :bosko:
LOL yeah I noticed that too, I'm suprised they showed this. Was kid's name really Joel? *megalol*

That was a deilerate stab at Joel. Word had it that many of the people on the animated series weren't happy at all with how Joel was running the movie franchise. Batman & Robin was supposed to be a tie in or lead in, of sorts, to the new animated series - but that obviously fell through when anyone set eyes on the movie.

Yup, I remember that Subzero was supposed to come out at the same time as the movie, before it was inexplicably delayed. I like to think that the decision to do that was because Subzero made B&R look like utter poo.

Well I don't think B&R needed Sub-zero's help to look like utter poo. It got THAT job done all by itself. ;)

I don't think anyone missed the Joel joke. It's one thing to think he's a bad director, but I thought it was was in pretty poor taste to attack him for being gay.

Is he really a homosexual or does he just direct movies with that frame of mind? I've never heard about him actually being gay...

Yes, he's an actual homosexual. And no, he doesn't direct movies with "that frame of mind." Some of his films include:
A Time to Kill
The Client
Falling Down
Flatliners
Lost Boys
The St. Elmo's Fire
And for the record, I don't see how the movie Batman & Robin comes off as "gay." It's campy, yes. But that doesn't make it "gay." And yeah, Batman had nipples on his suit, but didn't Batgirl too? I know they showed a close-up of her butt when she put on the costume for the first time. And they showed Poison Ivy wiggling her ass in the camera when she first appeared on-screen too. The movie was awful, I agree. But I don't think depicting Batman in a sexual way is a mistake, but some fans seem to have a problem with that. He's a sexy character. And so are Catwoman and Poison Ivy. And they were appropriately portrayed that way in the movies, and no one seemed to complain about it.

I recorded that episode and watched it today for the first time. It was so cool. The 80s version was great. It was kind of like what Batman would have been like in Heavy Metal.
I'm not a big follower of the comics. In fact, I've never owned a non-animated Batman comic in my life - only read some in stores.
The way I interpreted it was that the 50s Batman paralleled the 50s Hanna Barbera animation. The 80s Batman was a tribute to 80s animation.
Yes, the Batman and Robin movie was very gay. 1/10

When we see "Joel" in that episode, he's dressing manequins in a storefront display window, which is a job that the real Joel Schumacher had when he was young, before becoming a director.

Be that as it may "Joel" was fondaling a pink boa. Listen I didn't like what Shumacher did to the Batman franchise but it was kind of a sucker punch at the man.
As for compairing the 80's Batman to Heavy Metal, that assessment is slightly off. Heavy Metal took its animation from rotoscoping, which was far from the techniques that Frank Miller incorperated in Return of the Dark Knight. Of course if comparisons to the Heavy Metal comics is being observed, I can see the similarities.
One quick final point, camp only works when its not expensive, pointless camp, that requires you to take it deathly serious at times. Batman and Robin wanted to be everything, a satire, a comic book movie, a character study all rolled inot one.
