I of course think that the cowl is a much more effective disguise than some stupid. My friend here however, thinks that if you can get by with a pair of glasses why use a cowl. it's too darn hot!!! He may have a point. if Clark Kent can disguise himself with just a pair of glasses, why not Bruce Wayne..... My frined and I have been arguing about Batman and Superman all night long. Help me with this friends. Convince this guy that Batman rules!!! And the cowl is supreme!!!!

thats one thing i've never understood about superman. his face looks the same in the superman costume and when he's not in it. and the cowl rules

Obviously in reality, the cowl would kick the glasses' booty and send it limping into the woods. A better debate would be between glasses and a mask (Like the ones Nightwing and Robin wear): Even with very small eye holes, when you're only covering very little of the face, much would stay the same. Would people recognize you?

There's no way Clark Kent is Superman; he has GLASSES! I'm surprised that barely anyone has figured out Superman's identity, yet. I mean, come on, they're just glasses!

Cowls rule for sure! :D

I think the more important thing would be who you socialize with.....

All of the Comic Books do it...the character in "Civies" hears about something..dons his costume, and breaks it up.

Now in the real world, these sort of people would be found out, because you start at the source and work your way out...and the closer you are, the easier you are identified.

Clark saving Lois as Superman would be found out in no time.
Spiderman is probably next...how many times has he saved Gwen Stacy (until he didn't...but thats another story) Mary Jane, etc.? Gee, you'd think Spiderman likes saving the female intrests of Peter Parker, the guy who ALWAYS is photographing him.

See my point?

@least Batman doesn't fight that often for people he knows...but he does seem to protect Wayne Industries a bunch...=\

--at least, in the case of Harvey Dent. They were good friends before half his face was turned into scar tissue. Ironically ol' Harv/Two-Face never would buy in a million years his oldest friend is the Bat (cf. the Hugo Strange ep)....

I know this may be off topic, but I've heard references to Gwen Stacy dying in the Spiderman comic. What I'd like to know is:

1. Who is she?
2. How did she die?
3. Why didn't Peter save her?
4. Why is her death such a big event in the comic?

Gwen Stacy was a girlfreind of Peter's who got chucked off a bridge by the Green Goblin. She was plunging to her death, Spidey webbed her foot, but the sudden stop snapped her neck. Not really Pete's fault - she would have died regardless. It's a big deal because it was a great, now classic, storyline. It's one of the few Marvel deaths that hasn't been reversed. Now in Ultimate Spider-Man, Gwen is new girl at school, and she has a big chip on her shoulder and likes to pull knives on people.

As far as this glasses vs. cowl thing - neither disguise would work. The only comic disguise that can work is one that covers your entire face - like that of a certain wall-crawler.

You know. I've always wondered that. But I guess if that could be explained, so can the way no one has been able to figure out who superman is with a pair of glasses.

The cowl all the way! You know, I've actually had a conversation like this with friends of mine. They would ask me how in the world no one would be able to figure out that Clark and Superman are the same person...and the answer of course is that first off, it's a comic/cartoon...story. and that everyone is stupid, lol. I also had one friend ask how no one knows that Robin and Dick Grayson are the same person. He was like, he just has a little mask that covers his eyes! Batman has the cowl, obviously no one can tell who he is, but it must be easy to figure out who Robin is. Well, I said again that it's just a comic and everyone is stupid, hehe, but, I also said it was te hair ^-^. Dick Grayson has his hair slicked back, and Robin's hair is all fluffy and stuff, hehe. When I started going off on this tangent...my friend stopped asking me these kinds of questions.

The neat thing about Superman's disguise is that he doesn't have to worry about getting unmasked. Crime fighting would be lot easier without having to worry about your arch enemy unmasking you and discovering your secret.

Then again, a new risk would also be added on his normal life. It would be hard cleaning off those glasses on a daily basis; Especially at the Daily Planet with reporters everywhere.

"Oh My God! Clark's Superman!"
"How do you know?"
"He took off his glasses!"
"My God!"

:p

I guess it just depends on how much time he actually spends on his normal life than his superhero to be discovered.

Here's why noone can tell that Clark is Superman. He has mental powers. The glasses are like a hypnotists tool. The hypnotist implats something in your mind and a whistle or a cod word triggera subconscious reaction. Clark Himself may be unaware of this power. But it makes sense when you think about it. He doesn't think anyone can recognise him with his glasses on, so no one can.

Kryptonians are supposed to be more advanced than humans. Perhaps all of them have tepepathic abilities and like Clark's other attributes, his mental powers are strengthened on earth.

This would explain his ability to fly as well. He's not flapping his arms after all. And he's not leaping and crashing to earth. He's actually flying. How? He's moving himself with his mind.

SHOVELER: "Yeah, if we had a billionaire like Lance Hunt sponsoring us."

MR. FURIOUS: "That's because Lance Hunt IS Captain Amazing!"

SHOVELER: "Oh, not this again. Look, Lance Hunt wears glasses. Captain Amazing DOESN'T wear glasses.

MR. FURIOUS: "He takes them off when he transforms!"

SHOVELER: "That doesn't make any sense! He wouldn't be able to see!"

I'm just waiting for a story where somebody smacks Clark's glasses off and points at him, yelling,"See?See?!See?!!"

You've got to remember tho, the glasses aren't the only thing that clark changes - he also has to redo his hair and what not to the entire appearance down. Besides I have seen people that look a lot like me and aren't me and I know people were in shock when I finally got rid of my glasses. If you wear glasses all of the time people don't seem to think of you without them. Besides, gotta remember Supes as Clark acts like a supreme panzy - not being able to take the simple abuse of the people around him. I guess we'll see what happens now that President Luthor knows his secret (yea, like the average people can't tell that his bald head is covering an evil that has risked their lives numerous times - try explaining that one).

I wouldn't say that. Batman's out mostly at night, so the chances aren't that good that anybody would recognize him. In contrast, both Superman and Clark Kent are very visible individuals. That's where the impossibility is. There's no way the glasses would work. A full mask would work best, but Batman's cowl still works.
