Was that it for Superman!?!?!?

That was the first time I ever got to see this "Legacy" episode that I've only heard about!

GAHT DAMN BRILLIANT episode!!!!!

Is there a continuation? Will there ever be? Or do we just get to watch the further adventures on Justice League?

Speaking of that, when does the hand of Paul Dini return to DC Cartoons?

I really miss his touch.

Once again, Legacy.... in-frelling-credible!

I missed it! :( :( :( Was that one the one about Superman being under control of Dark Seid?

yes, it was, sorry. I think the creators of the show had notice that they only had so many episodes left, so they were able to wrap up the series very nicely, with an opening for further episodes if given the go ahead.

The writing for the two episodes was great as well. There were so many memorable lines and speeches. My favorite was when Darkseid and Superman on Apolcalypse fighting:

Superman sidesteps punch from Darkseid and connects with one of his own.

"That was for Dan Turpin," says Superman.

"Who?" Darkseid asks with a puzzled look.

"The good man you murdered."

"Had I known one man's death would have pained you so, I would have killed more. And kill more I shall. Take that agony with you to oblivion, Superman."

And who could forget the twist at the end. Totally unexpected and unheard of in cartoons stateside. Plus there were many references by characters to God and Heaven.

I just wish Batman had gotten an ending like that.

On the upside, when Darkseid appears on Justice League next season, expect them to deal with (or at least mention) the events of "Legacy". The pilot of Justice League was originally going to have a throw away comment by an Army General about how Superman can't be trusted. He makes a comment about it at a recent interview at WF:

Once again, Legacy.... in-frelling-credible! While technically there are a few episodes that come after Legacy in the production order Legacy is the series finale.

But the kicker JC is that originally Legacy was planed to be the fourth season premiere. At the time they still had a 65 episode commitment from kids WB, but then kids WB decided to shift the production from the remaining episodes of Superman to the new episodes of Batman Beyond.

The remaining 11 episodes that we would have gotten would have dealt with the aftermath of Legacy, Superman trying to regain the trust of the people, the introduction of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, and another team-up with both Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) and Batman. The fourth season finale apparently would have been designed to set up a Justice League series if kids WB wanted it.

There are scripts for the 11 lost episodes, but they haven't been released to the public. If they ever get around to releasing all of Superman on DVD than those scripts would make one very nice extra for the fans.

As for Justice League and Legacy, well it seems that the production team has some "things" planned for the second season. And Bruce Timm has said that if they're going to bring in Darkseid, season two will be the best place to do it. So here's to hoping... :)

As for Dini, he could return for the second season, or not. It all depends on Dini. I do know that he was writing "The Brave and the Bold" (a GL/Flash centered episode) but had to hand over the script to another writer due to a wrist injury.

JC, if you liked "Legacy," you've got to see the "Apokolips Now!" two-parter. It also involves the Darkseid. Definitely must see.

Darkseid appearing in Justice League... thank you God. :)

Apokolips Now? What happened in that epsidoe, I might have already seen it.

My favorite and most chilling line was, "...here, I am God."

And wow, they were throwing the sexual innuendos left and right in that episode. You totally know that ol' Supes got it on with that Whip Chick.

Once again, damn good episode.

You know what, I wish they'd introduce Superboy. I used to follow that comic pretty religiously.

Well, it's when Darkseid attacks and kills many innocents. Definitely one the best episodes ever. It also has the most quoted line, "In the end, the world didn't need a Superman, just a brave one." You've got to see it.

"Apokolips Now" was the two parter where Dan Turpin was "murdered" by Darseid when he invaded Earth (which was mentioned in "Legacy"). The final scenes were especially touching, and I even shed a tear. Yes, I am so weak that I cried of a cartoon character's death :D .Seeing Superman bound by that rolling tank device was wonderfully done, as they showed the horror and shock in the people's faces at seeing their hero bloody and defeated. .

If anything, they should have run the Apokolips Now two parter along with the Legacy two parter as they compliment each other very well.

Most definetly they should have done it. I loved the Darkseid episodes. They were very dark and showed how strong Superman is when he's mad. I mean, both episodes hit me emotionally. Too bad we never got the season 4. At least we get "Justice League."

Okay, here you go:

Superman faces off with Darkseid. Almost kills Darkseid, but decides not too. He throws Darkseid to all his slaves and surprisngly, they treat him like a God, which prompts Darkseid to say, "I am many things, but here I am God." Supergirl joins Superman, so Superman realizes she is alive. Then Superman returns to the city and almost everyone, even the Professor at Star Labs have turned against Superman. The only people reliable to Superman are Lois, Jimmy and Supergirl. The show ends with Lois and Superman together, with Lois saying that Superman can only get their trust back one person at a time.

Ahhh, k thx. I figured it was something like that. It's funny how everyone turned on him so fast. Although, did the STAR labs guys always seem KINDA wary of him?

Yeah, in a way, the professor was always wary of him. However, I think Superman kind of confided in him and for him to turn on him was pretty emotional for him.

Well, seems Lex had more affect on ppl than we (viewers) thought. This was a very intense closer, probaly one of the most intense cartoons. Darkseid is a very interesting enemy to say the least.

"...Victory has its price" thats just hit me hard and Supes reaction, tight......

I just wish they played Magneto like that in the old X-Men cartoon or Apocaplyse
