Image Comics Solicitations for March 2007 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=9173)
Offhand comments:
- Something about the solicitation texts for Dynamo 5 and After the Cape make them feel like the same comic. Nice cover to After the Cape #1 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200703/afterthecape01.jpg), though.
- Casanova gets its first TPB. The second of the "Fell-format" books from Image, this comic is wall-to-wall crazy insane-o ideas as fast and furious as Matt Fraction and Gabriel Ba can get them out. It's incredibly dense and wildly fun. I think the TPB will be severely shortchanged without Fraction's commentary material at the end of the book, but either way this comes highly recommended.
- Elephantmen gets the collected HC treatment. Don't think I'm going to double-dip. I'm not even sure that what we've seen so far really warrants a deluxe hardcover treatment yet. Very stylish and atmospheric cover to issue #8 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200703/elephantmen08cover.jpg), though.
- Image also collects Phonogram in a TPB. I'd be a lot more willing to experiment on this if it weren't for the fact that 1) most of the reviews I've read out in the blogosphere love it because of the musical references, and 2) I don't know or don't like the music that seems to be the soundtrack to the collected comics blogosphere. So color me maybe.
- Love that cover to Negative Burn #11 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200703/negativeburn11.jpg). Not enough to put the comic back on my pull list, though. Also a pretty cool cover to Noble Causes #28 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200703/noblecauses28.jpg).
