Comic Book Culture fans, here it is:

The 4th Annual Toon Zone Readers Awards!!

The Nominations Thread (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=179609) has wrapped up, and now it's time to cast your actual votes! This special "End of the Year" event has occurred 3 times previously, and we're out to continue the tradition!

For those that want to take a look back at prior year's voting events, you can check out:

1. The 1st CBC Readers Awards thread. (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=95913)

2. The 2nd CBC Readers Awards (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=127628)

3. The 3rd CBC Readers Awards (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=157070)

And now to cast this year's votes...Unlike the Nominations Thread, you are only allowed to cast one vote per category. The 1st few categories have choices that you should pick from in casting your vote, (these are your nominations from the previous thread)...now if you don't like any of the nominations, in addition to voting for a nominee, you can also make an "honorable mention" for a choice you'd rather vote for, but it's from the pool of nominees that we will declare winners.

And remember, this year we will be counting the votes for the top categories, and the winners of those categories will receive a Theme Week dedicated to the winner in January/February of 2007!

Here's the Top Categories, along with your nominations, (to make it to this final round, your nomination must have recieved at least 3 votes in the preceeding round...with as few nominations as we had, it seemed like the most fair way to advance a nominee):

1. Best Continuing Comic Book:

A. Daredevil, (written by Brian Michael Bendis, with art by Alex Maleev, followed by Ed Brubaker as writer, with Michael Lark on art).
B. Captain America, (written by Ed Brubaker, with art by Steve Epting).

5. Favorite Villian:

No clear nominees! (Lex Luthor was the only villian to get more than 1 vote...and he only recieved 2 votes!...while it's good that we have such a wide selection of loved villians, this means no Theme Week for the villians this year!) In this category, vote for whoever you want!

6. Favorite Team:

A. Astonishing X-Men, (Cyclops, Emma Frost, Wolverine, Beast, Kitty Pryde, Colossus).
B. The Ultimates, (Nick Fury, Captain America, Iron Man, The Wasp, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Hulk, Giant Man, Black Widow).

i'll get to the other stuff once i refresh my mind and see what everyone else voted for.

1. Best Continuing Comic Book: all star superman
2. Best Writer: geoff johns
3. Best Artist: john cassaday
4. Favorite Hero/Heroine: superman
5. Favorite Villian: phantom zone criminals (general zod, ursa, non)
6. Favorite Team: astonishing x-men
7. Best Limited Series/Mini-Series: batman and the monster men

8. Best Multi-issue Storyline or Story arc, (in an ongoing series) - batman/detective comics "face the face". james robinson got it right and fixed everything. batman is no longer a jerk. batman and robin are a team again. jim gordon and bullock are back. batman is now working with the police again. the list can continue on and on with everything that was done right.
9. Best One-Shot, (a stand alone comic book, or a one-issue story from an ongoing series) - superman returns prequels
10. Best Cover - batman and the mad monk #1. a great homage to one of my favorite batman covers, detective comics #31
http://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/19151/200/19151_2_001.jpg http://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/87/200/87_2_000031.jpg
11. Best Cover Artist - adam hughes. those superman returns prequels covers and the prequels trade cover were pretty good. especially the cover for the krypton issue.
12. Best New Title of the last 12 months - all star superman
13. Best New Character, (male or female)
14. Best Supporting Character - the question in 52
15. Best Fight Scene
16. Best Romantic Couple
17. Most Improved Book
19. Most Underachieving Artist - jim lee and matthew clark. lee has talent and i gave him best artist over the past couple years. but there is no excuse for the lateness of all star batman. clark almost got away with not getting underachieving artist because he wasn't doing anything i was reading, until i noticed that he was filling in for ethan van sciver in superman/batman. matthew clark once again gets underachieving artist because i feel this guy has no talent what so ever.
18. Worst Book - none.
20. Least Enjoyable Writer - none.
21. Least Enjoyable Story - none.
i am pretty shocked here. i can't think of anything bad this year. worst book and story should go to all star batman, but only one issue came out and it was miller's best of the entire series so far. i really hope things get better, but i'm not expecting much. miller is spared least enjoyable writer for the same reason, only one release in 2006 which happened to be good.
22. Best Comic Book Related Merchandise - superman ultimate collection dvds
23. Best Publisher - DC

Here we go...

1. Best Continuing Comic Book: Daredevil. Brubaker has taken Daredevil and made it better than ever before. In a market filled with inconsistant books, Brubaker has taken the reigns and not once failed to deliver. Everyone should read this book.

2. Best Writer: Ed Brubaker. For the reasons mentioned above, plus his awesome work on Captain America.

3. Best Artist: Mark Bagley. Still the very best at what he does.

4. Favorite Hero/Heroine: Daredevil. Spider-Man has become so out of character and often tedious whilst Daredevil is becoming a much stronger character.

5. Favorite Villian: The Kingpin. Twisting everyone to get his immunity and trying to ruin Murdock again all in the same arc? Brilliant. Plus, no one else was up to snuff this year, with the possible exception of the reformed Riddler in Detective Comics.

6. Favorite Team: Astonishing X-Men.

7. Best Limited Series/Mini-Series: Marvel Zombies. A brilliant idea turned into a brilliant mini series.

8. Best Multi-issue Storyline or Story arc The Devil In Cell Block D. No real question here.

9. Best One-Shot, (a stand alone comic book, or a one-issue story from an ongoing series). Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #2

10. Best Cover Marvel Zombies #1

11. Best Cover Artist The guy who did the Marvel Zombies covers, sorry, I can't recall his name.

12. Best New Title of the last 12 months Pass.

13. Best New Character, (male or female) Zombie Spider-Man. Sadlyenough, he's been more entertaining that the 616 Spider-Man this year!

14. Best Supporting Character The Winter Solider

15. Best Fight Scene Captain America Vs Iron Man from Cival War. Simply brutal.

16. Best Romantic Couple Ultimate Peter Parker and Kitty Pryde.

17. Most Improved Book Ultimate Fantastic Four after Millar took over.

18. Worst Book Ultimate Fantastic Four after Millar took left.

19. Most Underachieving Artist

20. Least Enjoyable Writer Mike Carey

21. Least Enjoyable Story Ultimate Fantastic Four God War

22. Best Comic Book Related Merchandise Justice League Unlimited Season One DVD

23. Best Publisher Marvel. I don't read enough DC to justify thier posistion here.

1. Best Continuing Comic Book:

C. Ultimate Spider-Man, (written by Brian Michael Bendis, with art by Mark Bagley) Bendis really shows his talents in this title, and as long as he keeps putting out compelling material issue after issue, I'll be buying.

2. Best Writer:

D. Mark Millar, (writer of Civil War) This one was tough. I was caught between a rock and a hard place, but at the end of the day Millar deserved it for shaking up the 616 universe forever while bringing a compelling plot along with it.

3. Best Artist:

B. Mark Bagley, (artist on Ultimate Spider-Man) Great art, and an obvious ease in drawing Spidey.

4. Favorite Hero/Heroine:

A. Spider-Man, (starring in Ultimate Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and having a prominent role in Civil War). Isn't it obvious?

6. Favorite Team:

B. The Ultimates, (Nick Fury, Captain America, Iron Man, The Wasp, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Hulk, Giant Man, Black Widow). I don't normally read The Ultimates but hey they're the one I like.

7. Best Limited Series/Mini-Series:

D. Civil War, (written by Mark Millar, with art by Steve McNiven). Is it that obvious?

12-19-2006, 09:36 AM
1. Best Continuing Comic Book:
All Star Superman, (written by Grant Morrison, with art by Frank Quitely)

I voted for this comic becuase it got me interested in Superman again plus it's the funnest book on the stands.

2. Best Writer:

E. Grant Morrison, (writer of All Star Superman, Batman, Seven Soldiers of Victory, and co-writer of "52").

For the same reasons above Grant Morrison has made Superman fun again plus his work on Batman was good too.

3. Best Artist:

B. Mark Bagley, (artist on Ultimate Spider-Man)

As much as I love Cassaday's work I have to vote for Mark Bagley. This guy is just on the ball month in and month out with rarely a misstep. He draws the definitive Spider-Man.

4. Favorite Hero/Heroine:

B. Superman, (starring in All Star Superman, Action Comics, Superman, and having a prominent role in Infinite Crisis and in the new Justice League of America).

Spider-Man has gotten so off-base lately and as much as I like Captain America's character in The Ultimates and when written by Ed Brubaker, I have to give it to Superman again. He's finally becoming as interesting as his animated counterpart.

5. Favorite Villian:

I'll have to give it to Lex Luthor becuase I don't consider Iron Man a villain.

6. Favorite Team:

A. Astonishing X-Men, (Cyclops, Emma Frost, Wolverine, Beast, Kitty Pryde, Colossus).

The best X-Men team in years no question.

7. Best Limited Series/Mini-Series:

C. X-Men: Deadly Genesis, (written by Ed Brubaker, with art by Trevor Hairsine).

Out of the above choices I have to go with X-Men: Deadly Genesis even though Marvel Zombies deserves a mention.

8. Best Multi-issue Storyline or Story arc, (in an ongoing series) - "Up, Up & Away" in Superman
9. Best One-Shot, (a stand alone comic book, or a one-issue story from an ongoing series). Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #2

10. Best Cover - Action Comics #844
11. Best Cover Artist - Arthur Suydam
12. Best New Title of the last 12 months - All Star Superman
13. Best New Character, (male or female) - Batwoman

1. Best Continuing Comic Book: All Star Superman. It's the most fun I've had reading a comic in a long time. Grant Morrison really gets Superman, his world, and all his supporting characters better than any writer in years.

2. Best Writer: Ed Brubaker. I've really only read his Captain America stuff, but Brubaker's made it one of my favorite books every month. His spot on characterization and the mysteries and sub plots are the best Captain America material to come out in a really long time.

3. Best Artist: Mark Bagley. Bagley's the most underrated artist in comics today. Month after month he turns in amazing work on Ultimate Spider-Man, but he doesn't get nearly as much recognition as he deserves.

4. Favorite Hero/Heroine: Spider-Man. I've been enjoying the Civil War stuff going on in Amazing recently, but it's mainly Ultimate Spider-Man that I've liked this year. He and Kitty are a really fun couple to read, and all the stuff he's gone through with the Clone Saga has been great too.

5. Favorite Villian: Red Skull. I love how he's been lurking in the background of Captain America, slowly working on his next big plan. Even without a Cosmic Cube the Skull still seems really dangerous and I can't wait to see what he throws at Cap next.

6. Favorite Team: Astonishing X-Men.

7. Best Limited Series/Mini-Series: X-Men: Deadly Genesis

8. Best Multi-issue Storyline or Story arc: Up, Up, and Away in Superman and Action Comics. A well writen story that hit all the elements that make Superman so iconic.

9. Best One-Shot: Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #2

10. Best Cover: Ultimates #12

11. Best Cover Artist: J. G. Jones.

12. Best New Title of the last 12 months: Iron Fist. I know it's only had one issue, but I love Iron Fist and Brubaker and Matt Fraction did a good job of establishing who Iron Fist is and setting up the series.

13. Best New Character, (male or female): Ultimate Spider-Woman

14. Best Supporting Character: The Winter Solider

15. Best Fight Scene: The Ultimates vs. The Liberators in Ultimates #12

16. Best Romantic Couple Ultimate Peter Parker and Kitty Pryde.

17. Most Improved Book: Nightwing

18. Worst Book: Nightwing before Marv Wolfman took over.

19. Most Underachieving Artist:

20. Least Enjoyable Writer: Frank Miller on All Star Batman.

21. Least Enjoyable Story:

23. Best Publisher: Marvel

Just some quick answers:

i'll get to the other stuff once i refresh my mind and see what everyone else voted for.

Yes, this reminds me to let all of you guys know: You can certainly vote for some things now and fill in the other catagories later after you think about it some more.

9. Batman/Spirit (If that even counts)

Yes, it does indeed count!

Most Underachieving Artist: Assuming you mean the artist that gets little work or "props" for his work while Michael Turner and Jim Lee (crap artists) get praise and assignment after assignment, I'm going with the man, Stephen Sadowski. This guy should be the top artist at DC.

Actually, it was a polite way of saying, "Worst Artist"...what you describe is more along the lines of "Artist Most Deserving of Wider Recognition"...which can be a new catagory certainly. :)

3. Best Artist: None (not familiar with either artist, not to mention there seems to be a low amount of choice)

Yes, the "Best Artist" catagory and the "Favorite Team" catagory didn't quite get enough nominations...we had several nominations that had 2 votes, but if I included them, then we would've had 10 nominations in a single catagory...and so I felt it best to just stick with the rule of "you must have 3 votes for a single nominee to advance to the final voting thread."

As mentioned, you can either not vote for that catagory, or vote for whichever you prefer and below that make an "honorable mention" for someone you'd rather vote for...

I'll be back to place my votes eventually...

Allright, time for my votes:

1. Best Continuing Comic Book:

A. Daredevil, (written by Brian Michael Bendis, with art by Alex Maleev, followed by Ed Brubaker as writer, with Michael Lark on art).

This was definently a defining year for the "Man without Fear"! His partner Foggy was thought to be killed, (and Matt Murdock was unable to do anything about it), and he was forced to fight for his life in prison forming an uneasy alliance with his most hated foe the Kingpin! "Devil in Cell Block D" featured a wonderful all star cast, a literal "who's who" of villians and past Daredevil cast members, (including some memorable moments from the Punisher). This book just gets better and better!

2. Best Writer:

A. Ed Brubaker, (writer of Captain America, Daredevil, Uncanny X-Men, and Criminal).

Not only does he write my pick for "Best Ongoing Comic" but he also writes the consistently good Captain America and Uncanny X-Men! Ed Brubaker knows how to keep the plot twists coming, and beyond that, he actually RESPECTS continuity, (and that gets a HUGE "thumbs up" from me)!

Grant Morrison comes in close at 2nd place, but the ending of "Seven Soldiers" was kind of a let down...

3. Best Artist:

A. John Cassaday, (artist on Astonishing X-Men)

Cassaday deserves the aclaim, for his work on Astonishing X-Men.

4. Favorite Hero/Heroine:

C. Captain America, (starring in Captain America and having a prominent role in Civil War and all it's spin offs).

He's still the shining example of heroism in my book, (take THAT Superman!) and this year was another good one for the Captain. He took a stand and stood up for what he believed in during Civil War, (and he wasn't wishy-washy like Spider-Man, or Superman during Infinite Crisis). The epitomy of what it means to be a hero!

5. Favorite Villian:

I'm going to stick with my choice of Apocalypse for his scheme in the pages of X-Men. With 90% of the world's mutants depowered thanks to M-Day, Apocalypse seeks to even the playing field, and live up to his theme of "Survival of the Fittest" by trying to eliminate 90% of the world's human population, and letting the survivors fight out for domination of the world after that!

6. Favorite Team:

A. Astonishing X-Men, (Cyclops, Emma Frost, Wolverine, Beast, Kitty Pryde, Colossus).

Joss Whedon's script in Astonishing X-Men showcases one of the best X-teams in years!

7. Best Limited Series/Mini-Series:

A. Batman and the Monster Men, (Story and Art by Matt Wagner)

Definently gotta go with this miniseries: Matt Wagner taps into the greatness of the Golden Age Batman, and updates him with modern day sensibilities! Prof. Hugo Strange makes for a perfect villian for Bruce Waynge to face in his 2nd year as Batman, and the action sequences against the Monster Men are well structured and exciting!

And now for the rest of the categories...

American Comic Book Related Categories:

8. Best Multi-issue Storyline or Story arc, (in an ongoing series):

"Planet Hulk" in the pages of Incredible Hulk. ALL SHALL FEEL HULK'S WRATH!!!

9. Best One-Shot, (a stand alone comic book, or a one-issue story from an ongoing series).

"What if: Featuring Avengers Disassembled": Take that, Brian Michael Bendis! This alternate version of the Avenger's Worst Day shows the potential that Bendis' storyline could've had!

10. Best Cover:

Astonishing X-Men #17:

11. Best Cover Artist

Ladronn, for his work on Incredible Hulk. Such as...

http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale/covers/0906/HULK_98_PREVIEWS_sm.jpg

12. Best New Title of the last 12 months

It's a little more than 12 month's old now, but I still have to give kudos to "X-Factor". Peter David is back, and cranking out some classic tales!

13. Best New Character, (male or female)

Miek, from the pages of Incredible Hulk. He started off as a "loveable sidekick" of sorts, but he's morphed into a tragic, noble figure, who's as spirited a fighter as the Green Goliath himself!

Runner Up: Darwin, from the pages of Ed Brubaker's "X-Men: Deadly Genesis" and his run on uncanny X-Men.

14. Best Supporting Character

ummm, this catagory is pretty similar to the "Best New Character" catagory for me this year...I'll choose "Miek" once again.

15. Best Fight Scene

Damn, "Planet Hulk" is going to steal all of the awards for me this year...I definently have to give the award to the Hulk and Caiera the Oldstrong, for their battle in Incredible Hulk #98. When there fist's collide, the entire landscape shakes!!!

16. Best Romantic Couple

Gert Yorkes and Chase Stein in Runaways!!!

17. Most Improved Book:

Uncanny X-Men: Claremont's gone, and Brubaker's taken over, and given the book a renewed sense of direction!

18. Worst Book: Red Sonja. Somewhere along the way, somebody forgot that this book was "Red Sonja" and not "Lord of the Rings". You don't need epic "Save the world from an ancient evil" storyline's in this book! It's Red Sonja, she's a female Conan, just send her on treasure seeking adventures, don't turn her into She-Ra!!!

19. Most Underachieving Artist:

David Finch: His artwork is slowly, increasingly, turning me off every time I pick up a book with his artwork inside of it. His version of Moon Knight was a gaudy, mid-90's Image wannabe book, in my opinion.

20. Least Enjoyable Writer

ROBERTO AGUIRRE-SACASA: His work on Sensation Spider-Man just isn't cutting it for me.

21. Least Enjoyable Story:

"Feral", in the pages of Sensational Spider-Man.

Also, runner up would be "Savage Red Sonja: Queen of the Frozen Wastes"

22. Best Comic Book Related Merchandise: Yeah, those Justice Leage DVD's are indeed pretty nice, aren't they?

23. Best Publisher

Marvel....simply because I've read more enjoyable stuff from them this year than I have from DC...but that's pretty standard, for me.

Any remaining votes? You now have 72 hours left, (3 days) to cast your votes. I would usually have closed this thread on Sunday night, but since that's New Year's Eve, (and I've got places to go on that date) I'll leave this thread open till Monday night at midnight, (EST). This will be my final reminder, so if you haven't voted yet, be sure to do it soon! :)

I think a lot of my choices are going to be defaults based on which of the choices I've actually read...

1. BEST CONTINUING COMIC BOOK: Has to be All-Star Superman. Not reading any of the others.

2. BEST WRITER: Easily Brian K. Vaughan. Any writer who can produce as much varied work as Y the Last Man, The Escapists, Ex Machina, Runaways, and Pride of Baghdad in one year (and, unlike Grant Morrison, make them all comprehensible ;)) has to win something.

3. BEST ARTIST: Don't think I can really go with either one. As time goes on, I get less and less fond of John Cassaday's hyper-realism, and while I certainly respect Mark Bagley for his professionalism, his art just doesn't grab me the way other artists can.

4. FAVORITE HERO: Superman, based on the Up Up and Away arc, the All-Star Superman arc, and the current Kurt Busiek run.

5. FAVORITE VILLAIN: Since it's a write-in, the Adversary of Fables.

6. FAVORITE TEAM: The Astonishing X-Men by a country mile.

7. BEST LIMITED SERIES: Batman and the Monster Men, also by a country mile.

Taking a shot at some of the other categories:

8. Best Multi-issue Storyline or Story arc, (in an ongoing series): Either DMZ's "Body of a Journalist" or Runaways "Parental Guidance"
9. Best One-Shot, (a stand alone comic book, or a one-issue story from an ongoing series): Conan #28, with a killer story by Kurt Busiek and art by Eric Powell that pays tribute to REH while sounding like something he'd write. The latest installment of Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson's "Stray" series in The Dark Horse Book of Monsters is pretty close, too.
10. Best Cover: Runaways #18. (http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=271577&zoom=4)
11. Best Cover Artist: Tossup between James Jean and Jo Chen.
12. Best New Title of the last 12 months: Easily Casanova from Image Comics, although the Hero Squared ongoing would seriously challenge it if it hadn't been 3 mini-series before 2006.
13. Best New Character, (male or female): Still Casanova Quinn from Casanova. From Image Comics. Read the first issue free! (http://www.newsarama.com/ImageComics/Casanova/01full/CNV01_full.html)
14. Best Supporting Character: Awesome Andy from She-Hulk, Old Lace the dinosaur from Runaways, or Zinda Blake/Lady Blackhawk from Birds of Prey. Come to think of it, you could probably just put "the entire supporting cast of She-Hulk" here and I'd be totally OK with that.
15. Best Fight Scene: Even though I hated the mini-series so much I stopped reading it mid-way, I think I have to give the nod to the scene in Sgt. Rock: The Prophecy where Rock shatters the chair he was tied to and tortured in, and then beats up an entire room of Nazis with the pieces (http://the-isb.blogspot.com/2006/07/badass-week-begins-toughest-man-in.html). I mean, how can you not love that?
16. Best Romantic Couple: Mark and Abby from Love and Capes (http://www.loveandcapes.com).
17. Most Improved Book: Closest I can come is Birds of Prey, not because it was ever bad, but because Gail Simone keeps coming up with cooler and cooler things to do with it.
18. Worst Book: Probably Sgt. Rock: The Prophecy. Was certainly the biggest disappointment to me this year, and one of the only books in a long time that I wasn't even interested in finishing.
19. Most Underachieving Artist: Adrian Alphona and Stuart Immonen, although they're more "underrated" artists than "underachieving" artists. I can't think of any real artists who I thought didn't do as well as he/she could have.
20. Least Enjoyable Writer
21. Least Enjoyable Story
I am deliberately leaving both of these out. I try to ignore comics I don't happen to like and would rather spend the time on comics that I do.

22. Best Comic Book Related Merchandise: Marvel Legends figures. Having Beta Ray Bill as an action figure is too cool for words, even if they never managed to get a decent Thor out, and then you get Kitty Pryde with Lockheed and the MODOK figure wave that just came out.
23. Best Publisher: Based on hit/miss ratios, I think this has to go to DC this year, though Dark Horse comes in a very close second.
24. Best Manga Book: Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service.
25. Best Newspaper Comic Book Strip: None. Don't read the daily comics.
26. Best Non-Superhero Book, (romance, western, sci-fi...any category!): This year, probably Y the Last Man. Retro Rocket would have made the grade, but gets dinged significantly for lateness.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Well, the deadline has passed, and it's time for this thread to come to a close...except for one small problem: We have a tie in 2 catagories!!!

Begin overtime!!!

The tie exists between the following contenders:

Best Writer:
Geoff Johns, (writer of Infinite Crisis, Green Lantern, Teen Titans, co-writer of "52", and co-writer for Superman and Action Comics).
Ed Brubaker, (writer of Captain America, Daredevil, Uncanny X-Men, and Criminal).
Grant Morrison, (writer of All Star Superman, Batman, Seven Soldiers of Victory, and co-writer of "52").

Favorite Hero:
Superman, (starring in All Star Superman, Action Comics, Superman, and having a prominent role in Infinite Crisis and in the new Justice League of America).
Spider-Man, (starring in Ultimate Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and having a prominent role in Civil War).

Here's how this will work: The "CBC Readers Award" thread will remain open for 3 more days, (till Midnight EST, Thursday night). We're looking for any remaining holdouts who haven't voted yet, (because of the holidays or for whatever reason). If you haven't voted yet, YOU can help determine the final vote in these two catagories!!!

Those of you who haven't voted yet can also vote on all of the other 24 catagories if you want, but the goal is to try and break these 2 ties in this final round. If, after 3 days, we still have a tie in either of these 2 catagories, then we'll end the thread and officially declare a tie in those catagories.

If you've already voted in this thread, you cannot vote again, but if you've got a friend or associate on the CBC forum that hasn't voted yet, ask them to post their votes! Your favorite writer/superhero depends on it!

While I personally like Superman more, I'd say Spider-Man had a bigger year. Yeah, Superman had his movie come out, but as far as in-comics goes, Spidey unmasked to national notice (it was in USA Today and friggin' E! Television), and Ultimate Spider-Man passed the Issue 100 milestone with the entire creative team intact. All this despite having a fan-loathed power change and panned costume change.

Spidey's had a pretty big year.

can a user vote again if their favorite writer/hero did not make it to the final choices?

No, I'd like for ties to be broken by people who haven't actually cast their votes till now. It seems unfair to allow someone who voted already for Captain America, to now turn around and vote for Spider-Man or Superman. Voting for multiple choices is what the Nominations thread was all about, here you're supposed to only get one vote.

There actually were a few other people who voted in the Nominations thread who have yet to vote here in this thread. We just need one of them (or someone else) to step forward and break the tie!
