The Return of a Two-Parter Episode Part III: I Think This Is Like The Third One Isn't It

I'm not watching every episode of this series, but occasionally tuning in to see if it ever stops being so godawfully cliche and cheesy. The scenes are still horrible (generic "young, shy romance", generic "found at the murder scene, falsely accused, generic anime bathhouse, etc.). But it does look like there might be some interesting plot elements developing, and the characters are somewhat less two-dimensional and hackneyed (except for generic Mr. Hard-ass Guard Captain). The 20 minute opening theme is still annoying; I can only watch this on the Fix.

Naked chicks? Good enough for me.

A+

P.S. Character designs were more on model than usual, the best they've looked in weeks.

Paid for by Byzantium Chamber of Commerce.

Abel's still a dork. Vash the Stampede was never this big a baby.

So much for Ion's happy homecoming.

"Alphonse's" voice has dropped.

The music in this episode reminds me from the Rurouni Kenshin OVA's. Especially the scenes when Esther and the pope are talking with each other.

Also, seeing dead bodies lying on the ground isn't the first thing you want to see when coming back home.

Well, this episode is earning it's TV-MA-V rating. Toonami it isn't for.

Fanservice FTW.

This episode is truely AS material. I wouldn't be surprised if this episode got high ratings(for Saturday at least).;)

Star birthmark? Why to knock off Tokimeki Tonight.

Wow, an actual episode that genuinely kept me interested most of the time. Of course.... it just could have been the bathhouse moment. Man, vampire boy (still don't remember his name) may have an annoying scream, but he sure knows how to kill someone....

That wasn't the pope. That was the young vampire who was an emissary for the empress. The one who Esther tried to kill a couple of episodes ago. Though, seeing how dull some of these character designs are I can see how you could get them confused.

Abel does act a lot wimpier than Vash. I guess it's because one's a priest and the other's an outlaw.

The Royal Guard guy had one really kickass sword back there.

Overall, a pretty fun episode. I enjoyed Esther in this episode, from getting stern with Abel to shooting a gun again.

One annoying aspect of this episode, was the continuing fading transistions-not only from scene to scene, but within each an every scene in the entire show.

It was like watching a bad YouTube video gone crazy...

I must be one of the few people who is actually enjoying this show. This episode was pretty good and I think its the beginning of a 5 part arc so hopefully things will pick up. BTW who is the voice of Asta? Is it Carrie Savage?

I think people throw around words like "cliche" and "hackneyed" way too much nowadays. It's like some people watch shows just for the sake of pointing out every way they slightly allude to something that came before. Never mind that the story is actually engaging and the characters very likeable, I guess we must hate it because it's not the most original concept ever concieved.

And the opening theme is actually longer on the Fix. On TV, it's shortened to 30-seconds.
